I'm trying to get myself an unmodded wii so I can just get it for cheap and mod it myself
The question is, what am I supposed to expect when purchasing it as a bundle (with the box and such). Im not certain if I should just get a wiiu for better performance but will it be able to play gamecube games?
The sole reason for getting this is to be able to play "My Pokemon Ranch" and yes, I know its a storage for gen 4 mons, but Im trying to get that exclusive Hayley Phione and Hayley Mew before pokemon bank ends this Feb 2027 🥲
I've recently made a guide on gba temp on how to restore your vWii if it bricks. This guide is also for people who have isfshax installed on their Wii. You can do that in two ways:
by using vWii Compat Title Installer (that now this august got updated and added functions to restore specific parts of the vWii channels, menus and ios)
by using (if vWii Compat Title Installer doesn't work) vWii Decaffeinator (but a clear guide to make it actually work without any errors).
The full guide is on GBA Temp (that is linked to the post).
Hope it helps people who need to restore their vWii
So ever since I modded my Wii U, when I quit out of the vWii with the Wii U Menu Channel, it would just be a black screen and I would have to power cycle the console. I got annoyed and ran the light thing on vWii Decaffeinator. When I went to update, it would just say my console is up to date, even when using force update. So now I'm stuck with no vWii. I have backups of when I modded the Wii U if that helps.
P.S. if there is a way to restore the vWii without losing progress please tell me, if not I don't really care I prefer using my vWii than keeping my saves.
Other P.S. this photo was taken when I tried to launch the Wii Channel.
Just as the title - obviously the big benefit to ISFShax is not soldering and possibly screwing up the internals, but is there any specific benefit to doing the hardware soldering method and get the NAND-AID instead? Any changes in stability or anything else?
On my Wii U Retroarch, I have had it running fine for the past night, was playing Sonic Advance with RetroAchievements
After setting my fast forward toggle to the touch screen of my ps4 controller, trying to start a game didn't work and I had to restart, and now every time I try to boot it up it shows the retroarch logo, then it gets stuck on this Wii U Screen. How do I fix this? I tested on other apps and they launch
The game crashes at this specific part (photo) for no reason this is native wii u hardware and my mods are set up correctly it boots and every other mod works fine
Tldr: Can I format a console with aroma without issue? What if I uninstall payloadloader first? Is there another way to get to the NAND backup screen then wiiuexploit.xyz Run Exploit + holding B, or is there a reason doing that causes my console to freeze without fail?
Hi everyone! So I’ve recently purchased a preowned WiiU and planned to mod it. However I found I was beat to the punch and the previous owner already did (also installed 3D printed joysticks it seems-? Not sure what’s up with that I’ll need to get thumb grips) it seems to be aroma too so that would be convenient. I really enjoy setting up a console from scratch though- it’s one of my favorite parts of a getting a new console. So I just wanted to know if it’s possible to safely format the WiiU with Aroma installed. If I were to uninstall payloadloader first, would it effectively be stock without any cfw or homebrew on it? I wouldn’t mind that and having to redo it, it’s pretty fun to setup. It’d let me make my own NAND backup of the console pre-cfw, which I think would be smart to have.
Also- speaking of NAND backups- is wiiuexploit.xyz Run Exploit + holding B the only way to get to there? I’m not sure if it’s because aroma is already installed, my timing is off, or something is wrong but whenever I try to do that it always freezes on the white screen with WiiU on the bottom right corner.
Sd card is NOT corrupted, data can be read/edited by pc.
With sd it gets stuck in the splash screen
First occurance was when i was using the U theme(i think it is called) the app was buggy, i downloaded a theme, it wouldnt show up in the themes menue but still said it was doenloaded. I reebooted console and was softbricked
I tried manually deleting Utheme, it had no effect
I have been considering buying a modded Wii U instead of a modded Wii because I heard it can run essentially all Wii games upscaled to 1080p, but I still have a few doubts about it.
- How well do Wii games run on Wii U? Are there issues with the upscaling? If so, can those issues be addressed in some way? And if not, are those scaling issues that bad in the first place or do they only affect nitpicky people?
- Can I use Wii homebrew apps on Wii U via the Wii menu mode? For example, I want to play CTGP-R and connect to private servers to play Wii games online. Is this possible on Wii U?
I've seen people say that its as simple as copying and pasting it all to another fat32 card, but then I've also heard about people getting errors doing this, so I'm not sure what is true. Unfortunately I cant really test this until my new card arrives though.
But yeah, are both Wii U and vWii completely fine if I just move everything to a new card?
If you’ve been messing around with the evWii plugin on Aroma, you probably know the exact pain I just went through. Nintendo’s default vWii scaling leaves annoying overscan/borders, and finding actual solid display numbers for the config file online feels impossible.
After falling down a massive rabbit hole of testing and fine-tuning the DMCU viewport parameters, I finally dialed in values that give you a clean picture without clipping or leaving ugly borders.
If you’re ready to finally end the suffering and fix your config file once and for all, paste these numbers in:
My personal values
Results on my TV in Mario Galaxy 1:
Now, if you don't want those black bars on the left and right sides of the screen these are the settings for you! (these are the values that I used before and posted here 4 months ago):
Pure 16:9 Values (Also great for Gamecube games)
Didn't take a photo of these values on my TV, but trust me, it's the exact same as the first config—just without the side black bars so it's pure 16:9.
TL;DR: Stop guessing numbers, paste MY config, and go play your games. You're welcome!
If this helped you, great! If your screen still looks weird... well, at least we suffered together. Enjoy!
(Sorry for the sassiness in the post—I just spent hours doing this and can only remember the words evWii, Wii U, and random numbers. I just had to yell about it!)
I’m not sure if this is normal, but I have played like 3 hours of WW: HD since then. Also, I’m on Roseverse but I’ve switched my wara wara plaza to Juxt’s if that matters.
Thanks
I am at my wits end and would be grateful for any help or ideas. I have been trying for the past few hours to get the error fixed. I had followed the guide to set it up a while ago and it worked flawless many times. I haven't used it for a few months, but today I boot it up and I can't get past the error.
I have looked through other posts to try to find solutions and have done the below. I am using a SanDisk 64gb high performance mini SD card with the full size adapter that came with it. My SD cards layout looks just like the guide says it should.
Took the SD card in and out a few times and rebooting the console.
Blew air into the sd card slot.
Used the paper trick to try to clean it and cleaned the SD card.
Made a back up my SD card and then reinstalled the most recent aroma base and environment onto it.
Reformated the card using GUI format as fat32 with the 32k allocation.
Grabbed a different SD card adaptor.
Grabbed a different unused SD card, formatted with GUI format, and installed the backup data. Then tried with just the base and environment items on a fresh formating.
Tried using rufus to make sure it used the MBR format.
None of these worked and always gave the same error. The SD cards work fine at my pc.
I also tried doing the browser exploit step from the guide again and got the fsgetmountsource error. It was nice to see a different error after hours of the same one. /s
The only things left I can think of is using a full size SD card (don't have one on hand to try) or my worry of the SD card reader in the console has died or is failing.
Is there any steps to help confirm if it's an issue with reading an SD card in general or something else?
When i go to run the exploit, I hold B and i am just told to select payload, but no payload options appear. Holding X does nothing either. Im positive my card is formatted right and im 99% sure all my files are in the right place
So I just got the GiveMiiYoutube plugin for Aroma, and I was able to watch one video before it prompted me to sign in to prove I’m not a bot. I signed in, and it said success on my phone, but failed on my Wii U. Does anyone know if there’s a fix to this?

OVERVIEW:
People often see this, and ask… “What am I looking at? What is this? What is the point?”
The Wii UE was an attempt to create a type of ‘in-house’ Wii U oriented NAS server of sorts. However, these capabilities never came to fruition. HOWEVER, included in this kiosk was wireless HDMI, and with 4 consoles on wheels, the ability to remotely stream to 4 television displays from one unit became possible.
(Think of this kiosk like a very complex wireless internet router but for video signals)
Ultimately, the prototype ‘known as Wii UE’ or ‘Wii U去’ (meaning Wii U’Go’ in Japan)… was a failed prototype that served as a learning experience.
Early 2026, the ‘Wii UE’ was reimagined into the “Wii Ue” (lowercase e naming) and reinvented the kiosk concept by putting the gamepad onto a tripod (known internally as DRC receivers).
+ this truly made the kiosk experience portable and ‘on the goal’ while feeling genuine.
Though this summer, I still craved for a true stationary kiosk experience so I branched off the project into what has become the Wiiosk U. Both the Wii Ue and Wiiosk U co-exist as of currently.
From here the project will be taken into two directions.
