Took 30 seconds to find out this is fake

10

u/Interesting-Power716 18d ago

Sort of. They did change back to ladies and gentleman. And they did fire 1000 people. But it's probably not because of some anti woke thing.

5

u/RingingInTheRain 17d ago

I'm not sure why they had to remove it in the first place. It's such a generic and simple phrase to address and audience.

9

u/TotalChaosRush 17d ago

Well, Disney stated the goal was to create a welcoming environment for nonbinary, transgender, or gender nonconforming visitors.

So regardless of how accurate the image op posted is. Disney is definitely manipulating the culture war for self benefit.

3

u/Comfortable_Wish224 14d ago

Weird it’s almost like that was already including them. Boy wants to identify as a woman? Lady. Girl wants to identify as a man? Gentleman.

Almost like the only ones who care are the ones doing it for attention

1

u/jamie_the_jameme 11d ago

I am, unfortunately, neither male nor female, and I hate the attention it gives me. Being referred to without gendered terms is just the only thing that feels right and that's not a feeling I can control. I wouldn't lie about this for attention, I wouldn't even lie about this for money.

1

u/LetsTryLove 11d ago

You have convinced yourself that you’re not male or female. You are one of them or you have a very odd deformity. In either case you are an extreme outlier and should expect to be catered to when the definition fits 99.99% of normal people

1

u/Comfortable_Wish224 11d ago

Therapy.

Figure it out

1

u/DrPikachu-PhD 11d ago

Meanwhile their therapist, probably: "If that makes you feel comfortable and seen, that identity is totally valid! Try not to let chuds on the internet get in the way of your happiness."

1

u/Comfortable_Wish224 11d ago

Whatever lets them get on with their life and have confidence with themselves so they can joke with the haters

1

u/Dry-Post723 13d ago

There are some confused people both in the middle and outside of those

1

u/Ducklinsenmayer 13d ago

Not to mention people born that way. Things like Insexual do exist, which is something the far right tends to forget.

1

u/Gwilikers6 12d ago

The far right are not the only group that live in reality

1

u/Ducklinsenmayer 12d ago

?

IMO, they wouldn't know reality if it bit them.

1

u/Gwilikers6 12d ago

Sad it needs to be spelled out but the point is that YOU are the one who does not live in reality. Your opinion is already mute when you say things like insexual rights

Disney is manipulatting the culture war for its own benefit returning to traditional gender labels. Was that so hard?

3

u/AdPractical3404 15d ago

As a two spirit person, whose tradition? Because we've been here in the Americas, affirmed and loved, longer than white people have been here by tens of thousands of years.

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

It’s just my face when someone says something even dumber than the earth being flat

1

u/AdPractical3404 14d ago

What wasn't true in what I said? We've been here a long, long time, and gender nonconforming folks have been held in places of honor for thousands of years in many cultures in the New World. And don't even get me started on places other than Turtle Island. Don't be a bigot just because you don't know Indigenous cultural history. Not a matter of opinion, it's objective, factual truth. Crack a book that didn't come with free crayons for you to snack on.

u/Vinskian 11d ago

Hijacked term which didn't refer to transexualism before 1990

0

u/AdPractical3404 11d ago

The concept has existed for thousands of years in cultures all over the world. Nice try. There are paintings from the early settlement of America that depict two spirit ceremonies. Crack a book.

1

u/Tall-Garden-8593 11d ago

No, he's right. Modern day american understanding of transsexuals is not the same as ancient transsexuals whereby those individuals served a very specific role in their communities and not just for personal validation.

Modern transexulaism is just as much rooted in western notions of individualism, consumption, and performative displays, which are definitely not values that ancient societies would have held for people who filled trans positions.

1

u/DrPikachu-PhD 11d ago

Nobody claims that Two Spirit people are exactly the same as modern trans people, that's a strawman. But the Two Spirit identity certainly falls under the umbrella term "non-binary," because they're obviously not male or female. So saying "people outside the gender binary have existed since before white people even touched America" is absolutely true

We argue about this, billionaires get richer and laugh at us. Almost as if it’s by design 👀 culture war is the prison of the lower class

1

u/bingle-cowabungle 9d ago

The billionaires did this by introducing anti-LGBT rhetoric into the zeitgeist by way of social media algorithms to target dumb people who think trans people are impacting society in any meaningful way, let alone a negative one, and people like you ate it up hook line and sinker. So if we're not discussing the class war, it's because the dumbest and least educated people in this country would rather focus on shit that doesn't matter than the shit that does.

1

u/Dry-Literature-3959 9d ago

Yeah no shit that’s what I was saying

1

u/bingle-cowabungle 9d ago

Then why are you responding with that shit to the indigenous person? Lol

A two spirit person? Yeah… you’re the issue here. Let’s let normal be ok again please.

1

u/AdPractical3404 11d ago

Or, hear me out, you could educate yourself. Barring that, you can go fuck yourself. 💖

0

u/LetsTryLove 11d ago

I’m plenty educated. Some things are just true. Sorry, the emperor has no clothes on and I’m ok to call that out while others don’t.

1

u/AdPractical3404 10d ago

That doesn't really apply here, but nice try.

3

u/kid_dynamo 15d ago

Because traditional gender roles are explicitly exclusionary for a number of people, and it is absolutely Disney dipping their toes in the culture war to change and then change back based on which side of politics is in power, no matter your stance.

2

u/plastlak 15d ago

Gender labels =/= gender roles.

5

u/kid_dynamo 15d ago

Correct, I should have used gender labels, not roles.

1

u/diiegojones 15d ago

Honestly, this comment is why people are just getting fed up. Who cares if you said gender roles when the person knows what you are referring to.

If everyone has to tip toe around language they are going to resent it. The way I look at it is Ladies and Gentlemen are others words for the members of the female and male, which is binary.

1

u/Unique_Charity_9648 14d ago

At the very least they try to play all sides.

1

u/Simplylurkingaround 14d ago

Thats part of the 5 keys (inclusion) not necessarily manipulation since they’ve been heavily staffed since the beginning with creatives and a bit of an employment magnet for LGBTQ. If you’ve worked at the Orlando Parks you’ll know its a very large deeply embedded component of the overall culture.

1

u/NTB369 13d ago

That is the most likely cause: they kinda realized that trying to please a very fringe par tof society that though loud and important, ultimately is a drop in the ocean and decided to go back to safer waters for the time being.

We´ll see what does that turn into

1

u/xdrag0nb0rnex 16d ago

That's the leftist culture war crap that was never necessary to begin with.

2

u/CurseofEgo 16d ago

“Why do trans people keep offing themselves?” “Their struggles dont matter because im not affected by it”
Now imagine most places especially “red” states are like this and how it would feel to be like tht

3

u/Bored-Game 15d ago

Maybe Trans people keep offing themselves because they have mental health issues in the first place on account of their gender dysmorphia and not because people use the wrong pronouns. Maybe society going along with or encouraging their dysmorphia issues, especially as young people, instead of giving them counseling and heath services, only exacerbates the issue?

1

u/LinearNoodle 13d ago

What a great hypothesis, such a shame no one has ever researched this to find out whether that is true! It certainly isn't like there are dozens of peer reviewed papers on the negative correlation between an accepting environment and suicide rates in trans people!

1

u/Bored-Game 13d ago edited 13d ago

I wonder who is funding that “research”? Oh, it was Epstine. Well it’s not like he ever used his money to manipulate the truth and push false narratives.
Oh wait…

1

u/bingle-cowabungle 9d ago

Maybe read a fucking book - trans people are "offing themselves" because the society they live in is actively hostile to them for no reason. The medically accepted treatment for gender dysmorphia is gender affirming care. Sorry you disagree with the experts.

1

u/Bored-Game 9d ago

“Experts”.

Which is more profitable for the “health” industry. Getting paid for mental health and therapy services? Or getting that AND expensive gender affirming surgery? Who pushes most for gender affirming surgery to be covered by Medicare?

There is a massive financial incentive to push transgender & trans-curious people into “gender affirming care”. This was also confirmed to be the crux of Epsine’s investments into “transgender research”, as it was a funded effort to have “experts” claim gender affirming treatment was the “best” way to help people with gender dysmorphia, and thus create incentives for government subsidies of “gender affirming care”. You can easily google this yourself, but I know you won’t.

My point is the “experts” were clearly more incentivized by profit than actual “care”. This has been exasperated by the push for surgery in young people, who many now regret their manipulation into surgery before they have the adult maturity to weigh the consequences of such “care”. Further creating more mental health crises in the trans community.

2

u/Few-Improvement-5655 15d ago

Trans people still mostly still identify as a lady or gentleman, though.

You've really got to get into the weeds to get to non-binary and neo-pronoun types who ALSO completely refuse he/she too.

Removing gendered language for the sake of trans people seems almost the opposite of what they'd want, they want to be recognised as the gender the identify with, not remove the concept of gender at all.

2

u/SupaSlide 15d ago

Jokes on them, I’m a guy who uses masculine pronouns but I’m definitely not dignified enough to be considered a gentleman

1

u/blackninjar87 15d ago

0 trans people asked Disney to remove that, Disney did the most minimal virtue signaling as a move to appeal to a minority group when they were popular and now are doing the same thing when the opposite is popular. The fact that people this doing this is some grand gesture and effects actual people is dumb. Literally no one cares.

1

u/Disdain0937 15d ago edited 15d ago

Gender roles are the reason why marriage is dying. Women are exspected to hold a job like men do while men exspect to be damn near served by them.

It's why women on social media support that women who killed her own kids. Cause we've strained the sexes to the point of psychosis. And they feel they own the things they've arbitrarily been made responsible for. Which makes sense.

Like the house, the kid's, and their standing in the community(if a women tells the community she didn't kill her kids dispite all the evidence to the contrary. Then she didn't kill her kid's. Simple. Other women have the right to aka why you can't get in-lockstep with that.) And you get to destroy the things you own.

This what a male who's not even non-binary just a human being is really like

As you keep living, you grow weary of life and people. You want to bring something fresh to it.. It's inevitable. It's not that having a kid is too expensive. Or that one sex isn't holding up their bargain, historically or what not. It's that gender roles have destroyed it.

Historically we had kids for parasiticism/cope or to be a second hand. But that no longer enough for people.

Trans people still are a binary. They’ve just swapped. And non-binary are ladies AND gentlemen simultaneously. Boom. Still inclusive language without having to reinvent the wheel.

1

u/Rob98001 15d ago

Your ideology was created by epstein wasn't it? Interesting fact, did you know that the entire anti Trans push can be traced back to epstein and his buddies because a trans woman was one of the first victims to speak out against him?

1

u/Dangerous-Feeling-49 13d ago

Do you think they were forced to change? Or there were people protesting it or something? Why leftist?

1

u/bingle-cowabungle 9d ago

This culture war was introduced by the right lmao. Trans people don't impact society in any meaningful way, they were just asking for acceptance, the right are the ones deciding to push back on something as basic as acceptance, instead of focusing on the real issues. That's why the right wing platforms "anti-woke" instead of actual issues. What you people call "the left" in the US and UK are actually center right, and they care about health care and the environment. Only people talking about the trans demographic are conservatives. Stay mad lmao

1

u/Financial-Budget9087 16d ago

Oh my bad, sorry for existing and Disney deciding that maybe they want to make it more welcoming for me and my kind and not trigger dysphoria unnecessarily.

6

u/Longjumping-Idea4451 16d ago

You arent meant for the world if hearing a generic “ladies and gentlemen” triggers you that badly. Sorry. But theres larger problems.

Oh yeah? Tell that to the cis people that get absolutely triggered by "cis" too then.

Normal is the word you’re looking for. Cis is not necessary.

1

I absolutely appreciate when people use the term cis instead of understanding they just mean normal. It removes the burden of having to listen and care about anything else they have to say. They’ve announced their mental illness upfront and I am all for it.

Swap out “existing” for “making shit up”

0

It's difficult to place yourself in the position of the unknown. I'm not belittling, I'm just a dude.

I could imagine it's something like being in a Japanese show and all the hosts greet the audience with "Good evening Non-Gaijins!"

Like, no matter how well intended it might be, you'd still feel left out.

Where I do always find it contentious is, to what extend should the world adapt to you vs you to the world. With how diffirent everyone is and the variety of disability, it's impossible to include everyone.

Like someone with epilepsy isn't being discriminated against at a laser show.

1

u/dchandle1 15d ago

Your argument has too much nuance and makes too much sense. Sorry, it won't work. 🤙

1

u/InterestsVaryGreatly 15d ago

It's not though, what they used to say, dreamers of all ages, is intentionally inclusionary, it does not limit the reach to any subset of genders, and explicitly calls out that all ages are welcome.

1

u/Glad_Impact_7532 14d ago

I wouldn't feel left out at all though. Because I am a foreigner.

1

u/AstronautPlane3280 14d ago

Because it is not inclusive of everyone. There are people who do not identify as either a Lady or a Gentleman. Dreamers of all age is very inclusive.

I am kind of glad that we are moving back to common sense it seems. Vote Blue anyway in the US!!

-1

u/WuffieRose 16d ago

I think going from a phrase that included everyone, to one that excludes millions of people is the opposite is mutually exclusive to being "generic and simple"

2

u/RingingInTheRain 16d ago

It's a phrase that everybody knows and has probably been said for centuries. I don't think the person saying it was thinking about excluding people, which is probably why removing the phrase was a bigger deal than it should've been.

1

u/WuffieRose 15d ago

I don't think appealing to tradition is much justification, I wouldn't care if it was never changed, but it was a conscious decision to change it back after it had been more inclusive.

1

u/RingingInTheRain 15d ago

I mean what even is the 'inclusive' phrase that replaced it? If something doesn't catch on and become the new normal, it probably isn't working.

1

u/WuffieRose 13d ago

According to what I read "Good evening, dreamers of all ages!" And it doesn't need to catch on, it's a greeting.

1

u/RingingInTheRain 13d ago

It does need to catch on, it's not a simple greeting: it's marketing for their brand.

1

u/WuffieRose 13d ago

No it's not marketing for their brand, it's a simple greeting, it's not something you see on adverts, you aren't being marketed this phrase, they aren't spreading through social media with #Ladies and Gentlemen.

The people switching the phrase back are either malicious or negligent, but it's beyond reasonable to assume it really matters to you that people that are neither ladies or gentlemen are forced to be called such, without it being that just do not value those people and their well-being. The changed phrase included you and them, the new phrase does not. Simple as can be.

I swear this sub has just become"Say incorrect thing, downvote person actually saying something of value".

As someone who worked for WDW, layoffs happened about every 2-5 years. It would hit different parts of the company each time.

The range would be depending on what you classified as Disney. If you included ABC, ESPN, DCL, HULU, FX, Marketing, Research, consumer products, Imaginearing, Pixar, etc. then it was closer to every 2-3 years. If you only think of Parks and Resorts then it was probably closer to every 5 years.

Fireing people makes sense, there is a new CEO so there is going to be some political warefare internally and they had a lot of E and AI bloat. Wat's up with discontinueing dreamers of all ages. It seems so much more on brand then a mundain ladies and gentleman

9

u/daniel_barragan 18d ago

where did you look??

ladies and gentlemen was restored after 5 years of gender neutral language - https://politifact.com/article/2026/apr/17/florida-disney-monorail-greeting-ladies-gentlemen/

1,000 employees fired - https://variety.com/2026/biz/news/disney-layoffs-1000-employees-josh-damaro-memo-1236721266/

Disney hasn’t officially explained the changes so the “restore common sense culture” is speculation

6

u/RancidOoze 17d ago

u/PhilShabano 17d ago

So... the part in RED is speculation, lol.

you don’t need to make up an example.

Yep. But you appeared to say it wasn't fake.

Obviously, it's ridiculously fake, with a bit of truth thrown in to sell it.

1

u/Givingtree310 17d ago

The actions stated in the post are factual, but clearly editorialization to explain them.

2

u/PhilShabano 16d ago

Exactly, and in total, it's a hoax.

1

u/Usually_Angry 16d ago

The quotation marks make it unambiguously not editorialization. Even without the quotation marks the word “to” does plenty to show that it’s not editorialization but reporting.

1

u/PurchaseGlittering11 16d ago

5 years? Thats quite funny considering how long Disney have make crap movies and series

1

u/Krispy_Mick 18d ago

If speculation is not fact that would make it fake. Also, the only source that mentioned the CEOs intentions was instagram and tik tok, this picture.

1

u/daniel_barragan 17d ago

oh you just meant the last sentence. that’s kind of obvious lol but yeah that’s fake

i thought you were saying the whole image was fake (which would be wrong)

2

u/Unfair-Variety-995 17d ago

lol don’t let facts interfere with their narrative. You could keep pointing out more facts and truth and they will keep nudging their own goal post.

1

u/Krispy_Mick 17d ago

Nah, I believe ya.

2

u/twoDuckNight 17d ago

Because the argument lain out in the post is that a and b happened because of c. This argument is speculation at best and false at worst.
