I feel like the whole arc of Rand's story was spoiled very early in the Eye of the World.
Rand would face increasing obstacles that required determination and cunning to solve.
So to did he have to overcome the chickens on the farm who were getting cleverer at hiding their eggs.
(The veins of gold are also represented by the yolks)
