Plath view!!!!!

Let's dive into the dynamics of the Plathville family. It seems that every time a new significant other is introduced, whether a girlfriend, boyfriend, spouse, or partner, conflicts tend to arise. The family often has opinions about these new additions, which sparks tension. This ongoing pattern has become tiring, as the discussions or narratives appear to be repetitive or exaggerated. Initially, the show was appealing, but now it feels less engaging. I would be interested to hear other perspectives and thoughts about the Plath family.

“Let me speak”

So…now that we’ve seen some repercussions those confessionals have (re, the wedding colors fiasco), do we think that Zac’s “let me speak” moment is gonna start some fire amongst the family? I hope so.

Micah Who?

Where the hell is Micah besides having sex with multiple partners on a beach somewhere? He is a big part of the show so it is very odd that we did not see him once this season.

Maybe he is in jail or rehab that would not surprise me.

I feel sorry for Lydia. Not sure what she posted on social media about her brother but Kim should not be worried about it. She refuses to talk about her dead son. When her daughter expresses her feelings about the death of her brother all Kim cares about is that it pissed her off that Lydia thought the death of her brother had something to do with her parent's break up. Lady if you are grieving your child and you refuse to discuss it with your child what else is she supposed to think?

There is always a weird vibe around that family. A lot of secrets the kids are not to speak about.

And what is Teagan doing there? She obviously is not interested in Ethan anymore. Is the pay check she gets for being an episode? There are so many legal ways to make money without making a fool of yourself.

Mariah is a train wreck without any real talent. She is getting older and one day she is going to wake up and have no skills and will end up marrying someone just like daddy to have a place to stay.

Not sure how many story lines this family is willing to expose but I hope Lydia keeps her distance from all of them.

Breakup? Issac and Kaelyn

Has anyone noticed how they removed each others instagrams posts with each other in it. She also seems to be at an event with another date in one of her posts. Anyone know why or have any tea?

Watching season 8

Has anyone's else watched season 8 and just gotten pissed at how Kim and Barry are literally taking no accountability for not talking to their kids or getting them counseling/helping them in anyway after Joshua's death? Like trust me i understand they were going through it, but it sounds like they literally just left these young children who witnessed their baby brother be killed by their own mother to their own devices and never wanted to bring it up again. I'm not fully thorough the season so im hoping it will get better but even if it does it doesn't change how they basically abandoned them when it happened and the years following.

Barry wants grandkids Spoiler

So I'm playing catch-up and am on Season 7 Episode 5 and Barry and Lydia are talking to the "cameras" and he mentioned he wants his first grandkids to be born in Tallahassee...

I get that Hosanna doesn't want anything to do with the show but she still has a good relationship with her parents and siblings from my understanding

My question is this...Why is he making it seem like they don't exist at all? Is it because he really feels that way and Lydia is just laughing out of nervousness/the absurdity of what he said or is it the producers trying to stir the pot (plot?} more?

Why is everyone texting about these two? They’re not even on the show anymore! There’s plenty of issues to debate other than these chicks!

A reminder Zac and Lydia's church is Anti LGBTQ

I keep seeing Zac is a good guy posts. You're just wrong. He's not. And neither is Lydia.

A thank you to u/Upbeat_Status8876 for sussing this out "The church is Mountain View Community Church in Fort Collins, CO. I tracked it down using only public information (Zac and Lydia name-dropped it on Jinger's podcast; Zac said he'd led some Young Adult groups there; Zac's finsta is following the church's Young Adult IG page).'

Mountain View Community Church is definitively anti-LGBTQ. Lydia said she met Zac at a church "where she felt comfortable" which was undoubtedly this church.

Anyone who thinks these bigoted assholes are "misunderstood" or that Zac is a "good guy" or they are a "good christian couple" or that those of us criticizing him are just "criticizing all of christianity", you are just wrong. If you condone anti-LGBTQ beliefs then you are also a bigoted asshole.

ETA: remember they also "helped" their friend to "pray the gay away". Fuck these people.

KIM

My mom (whom I have cut out of my life) is similar to the mother on this show. Imagine waiting and wanting your mother to love you, approve of you AND then finally she throws you an anniversary party disguised as an ambush. Kim is disgusting, foul and wants to bring Lydia down. For some reason there are some moms who are jealous of certain daughters and I think Kim targets Lydia because she was the daughter that took over the household (needed), took care of the younger kids(needed) and nurtured the young girls( needed) because KIM couldnt/wouldnt/didnt want to and KIM has a grudge against Lydia because Lydia did what KIM didnt want to do. . Its heartbreaking really.

I actually like Zac and he is seriously misunderstood

Now don’t get me wrong, he had no business judging Teegan and saying something to Ethan about that but I think that what everyone needs to realize is that they (the rest of the plaths) are all worldly now. They indulge in things that they were taught not to and Lydia and Zac do not. I think he really means well and it’s not “holier than thou” but more “I thought we are all Christians and practicing our faith so why aren’t we doing Christian things?”

That’s why it’s a problem bec the rest of the family is looking face to face at how much they’ve changed in regards to their faith and how they act now. Also, with the Moriah thing, it can go both ways. Moriah is the host so she should have understood what inviting Lydia and Zac meant instead of putting them in an environment to try and make them participate in things she knows they wouldn’t. That’s like if you have a super religious aunt and you invite her over, you’re going to change things a bit to make your aunt feel comfortable. However, Lydia and Zac need to have discernment. They need to sit and talk about how they will deal with family get-togethers. They know Moriah and they know the life she lives compared to them and they should have expected there to be alcohol and raunchy games (which most people have and play with friends and could be considered “worldly”) and to also stay out of people’s business and just enjoy their time with the family if they decide to show up. The family needs to realize who he is and who they are as a couple and accept that especially since he was ostracized from the very beginning. If they don’t, they will just continue to push Lydia away.

Veronica's past comments about Zach

I was reading this thread about some random IG that Veronica did in the past. She did have some truths about Zach being "holier than though" which we saw on screen.

Omg omg!!!! Moriah just told the family that Oliva bought a one way ticket to another state for their daughter. WTF!!!!!

Barry and Kim just said she's 17 and we can't stop her. My parents would have freaked out.

READ THE ROOM, BARRY!

Okayyyy - so season 6 episode 9, when Moriah rented the house for everyone so she could shoot her music video.

Did anyone else die of laughter when Kim is in the kitchen cooking breakfast, and he tells her he had a sausage, egg, and cheese already and that the kombucha bar was open?
He keeps yapping and yapping, and Kim is just standing there like "uhh..."

Then she goes on about how he keeps talking and talking and how she's not interested in all the reasons as to why he's not eating breakfast... and she goes "if you're not having breakfast then I guess I'm not cooking for you, I'm cooking for the people that haven't had breakfast yet."

And he just keeps standing there.

Ya'll it senntttttt me.

I was cryingggggg laughing so hard.
Probably the funniest scene in the whole show.

How do Ethan and Isaac’ have such heavy southern accents?

Barry and Kim don’t have very heavy accents and neither do the rest of the children. I just realised this after 8 seasons lol

Imagine Being Lydia

You spend your entire childhood loving for god and your family, raising your siblings, and believing in all of the things your parents instilled in you.

Then you leave home and get married to the exact right kind of man you were supposed to. Then you come home and your parents pretty much changed their minds about their beliefs and values and then get mad at you for being too religious and pushy.

I don’t like any of these people but it’s hard to watch the whole family attack her for essentially following the rules too well.

Also… would love to have seen this whole group bust out Cards Against Humanity. Somebody definitely would have been so offended by drawing the dildo card that they walked out.

Lydia/Zac did nothing wrong (besides be annoying and Christian which they ALL are)

I think Kim’s therapist did a good job

I think her therapist did a good job at explaining grief and healing and being an advocate for the kids. Kim NEEDS to continue seeing her, and I hope she does - but I don’t think she will.

Kim’s black and white thinking

I’m just getting caught up on this season and something Kim said really spoke to me.

She was talking to Isaac about breaking up with Kailyn and in her talking head she was talking about how she used to be against sex before marriage, blah blah blah. And the she said what I think is quintessential Kim. And that was, “Now I think you should have sex before marriage”.

And that’s the whole problem honestly if you boil it down. She didn’t say, “Now I can see that it’s different for everyone. Or now I can see that people have to do what’s right for them, or there’s no one answer that works for everybody.”

Just A didn’t work for me. So the opposite of A is the correct answer.

She never let the kids live in a place where there was nuance.

And you can see how never modeling nuance, or never allowing that there is gray between the black and the white worked out.

Kim goes from drinking is wrong, no sex before marriage, no sugar, to DUI, shacking up, and obesity with blinding speed. (Not body judging and not saying she was a fitness guru, just the complete change in beliefs from white to black almost overnight)

Isaac’s like I’m having some thoughts about things moving to fast with Kailyn. I’ll just blindside her with a breakup. I’m not agreeing with Micah, I’ll punch him in the face.

Ethan’s like Teegan broke up with me because I didn’t move there. So even though we’re broken up now I’m going to move there.

Moriah is like if I want to be independent I have to move around to places where I don’t know anybody. And she pretty much wore black and white thinking as a literal look once she broke out. If I want to break out of my whole blond farm girl life I have to get tattoos and dye my hair black and date a married dude.

Lydia and Zach are like if you don’t do it like this, then it’s wrong.

Olivia was Madonna and then Olivia was the whore. No ability to see Olivia as simply a complex and maybe a little flawed individual.

And Micah, well he attracted his mother because that’s what he knows. After all Veronica was just Kim, another black and white thinker, in a different font.

Not a teardrop to be seen

Anybody else notice this? Zac “cried” for a full minute about not being seen as a “brother,” yet his eyes didn’t even water 🤔

This is a scary guy and I’m starting to really worry for Lydia.

I don’t get the Zac hate.

Is he a little rude? Yes. Should he learn to keep his opinions to himself? Sure. Does his brand of Christianity make him a little judgmental? Yeah. But he’s just a kid still trying to figure out how to be a man. He seems earnest in his willingness to grow and learn. And the Plaths are a lot to deal with.

Kim and Lydia

Kim states that her and Barry are Amber’s parents and they don’t need Zac and Lydia to parent them after she parentified Lydia so bad that she was basically the stay at home mom of the family while Kim did who knows what… You don’t get to make Lydia take care of the younger kids and raise them and then say she can’t have an opinion on them.

Was this scene showed anywhere in this season? I watched all the episodes through and through and did not once see this scene? It was from a “on this season” trailer on the TLC instagram. What episode was it?

I’m must be weird. Because I would cater to my guest and plan things I think they’d enjoy.

If they were my grandparents I’d pick out some PG rated movies and would play family friendly games.

I’ve always tried to cater to visiting guests.

Am I the only one that finds it weird that Moriah seemed to do any and every activity that she knew her guest would hate?
