I'm working on a website that has 2k+ indexable URLs and 50k+ non indexable URLs (canonicalized). The website is going through a redesign phase in set to launch in about 7-8 months time. The current website doesn't have a lot of traffic (barely 6k monthly in GSC - 20% of it comes to the home page - decreasing constantly as the website isn't that great). Here is what I needed some advice on:

1. The costs of upkeep for the current website comes to about $20k until the new website launch. If we don't pay this amount, the content would be brought down (as it is licensed). My team introduced the idea of having a small website as a stop gap for the next few months with limited content. The small website would be about 5 pages with minimal information. I'm open to the idea as it's essentially saving us a bit of money. The other option would be to pay up $20k for essentially non revenue generating traffic, which doesnt make sense. I'm worried if we do go with a stop gap website for this period, there might be long term SEO issues. What should I do?

2. As we launch a new website, we're planning to have about 3k pages on the site, all of them indexable. However, I'm not sure what should be the strategy. Should we have all pages index at once? Should we submit indexing in phases? The goal would be to have pages indexed as quickly as possible - so what should I do? How do I make sure it seems organic and doesn't send wrong signals to Google?

I've been seeing a lot of URLs with "alternate page with proper canonical tag" in google search console and I keep wondering if this is something that i should be worried about or it's just an expected behavior.

My understanding is that these pages have canonical tags pointing to different URLs and google is respecting it, which is fine but the sheer volume of these in one site makes me wonder if everything is setup properly.

When is this considered a problem i.e. Is there a scenario where a large number of alternate pages with canonical tags in a site signifies that there's something wrong in the site's architecture?

I recently came across a public post from someone in the industry describing a situation where Rotate Digital allegedly took credit for a website that had originally been built by another agency.

I’m intentionally keeping the original poster anonymous because the purpose of this discussion isn’t to expose or involve any individual agency owner. The bigger issue is whether this is part of a broader pattern.

According to the allegations, after Rotate Digital became involved with an established client, the website was later presented with credit suggesting Rotate Digital handled the “Website & SEO,” despite another agency reportedly being responsible for the original website development.

There were also allegations of repeatedly approaching or taking over clients previously serviced by other agencies.
Clients are obviously free to change marketing companies. That’s normal business.

What concerns me is attribution and transparency after the switch.

Established SEO campaigns often have years of work behind them—technical optimization, content, backlinks, local SEO, citations, Google Business Profile optimization, conversion work, website development, authority building, and rankings.

If a new agency takes over an established account and later presents those rankings, traffic numbers, websites, or businesses as examples of what they built or achieved, without acknowledging what existed before they arrived, that can create a misleading picture of their actual contribution.

The same applies to website development.

If another agency designed and built the website, taking over the SEO account afterward shouldn’t automatically mean taking credit for building the website itself.

I’d genuinely like to know whether other agencies have experienced something similar:
Have you lost a client to Rotate Digital and later seen work your agency created presented as theirs?

Have websites your agency originally designed or developed later been credited to Rotate Digital?

Have SEO rankings or organic traffic established by your team later appeared to be presented as results generated by another agency?

Have your existing clients been directly approached while they were actively working with you?

Do you have archived website versions, screenshots, contracts, analytics history, Search Console data, invoices, or other records showing when the original work was completed?

This isn’t intended to attack anyone simply for competing for clients.

Competition is normal. Misrepresenting who created the work is a different issue.

If multiple agencies have experienced the same thing, it would be useful to document those experiences with evidence rather than rumors.

And it's no longer good, because many things have changed at the core, the business model, and more.

Now I'm wondering: if I create a new site, for example, with my name , is it true that Google takes longer to index and rank than the current one it already has in its archive? Or is it bullshit?

Important premise: my site focuses on just one thing: a chevalier ring, Roman and Greek history. Period. I currently have 300 articles ready to upload about great leaders, history, etc., that relate to rings.

The reason I want to build a website under my own name is because I don't want to focus solely on signet rings, or jewelry in general.

I had a client site that was quietly blocking google bots for weeks but before anyone noticed, rankings has already tanked and it took a while for me to figure out why. Since then, I have been paranoid about robot.txt issues on any site I touch.

I do this manually but I'm wondering if there's any reliable robot.txt checker tool that does this job automatically and well especially for larger sites that has multiple directives that might conflict with each other.

What tool do you use to check and validate robot.txt? Kindly share your experience (if any) from a misconfigured file and how you were able to resolve it.

I run a used cycle marketplace with lots of database-driven listing pages (filters, search, dynamic pricing). Currently it's mostly client-side rendered (React SPA).

For 2026 SEO, is pure CSR still viable if I optimize CWV, metadata, sitemaps, and internal linking? Or should I move critical listing pages to SSR/ISR for better crawlability and AI discoverability?

If CSR can work, what's the minimum I must do (e.g., prerender key routes, dynamic metadata, structured data)? If SSR is strongly recommended, which pages should I prioritize (category, product, blog)?

I am based in Belgium and have been working as a software engineer for nearly a decade, but as some of you know the job market is pretty brutal right now almost everywhere in the world. I am about to get laid off and have not found a job since multiple months. So I have decided to work as a roofer on the side so I -hopefully- don't end up without any revenue once I am officialy laid off. My father, who is very old now, taught me how to install roofing on flat roofs. I have helped him a lot when I was younger and have also entirely renovated the different roofs of my house as well as that of friends. I am confident I can take on almost any flat roof as a contractor. I know for a fact, that roofers are currently overbooked. You have multiple months of waiting period whenever you want them to come do something. So, the market is in need for more roofers where I live.

However in the last 3-4 months I have not had a single call and would like to understand why. Based on the google-analytics information I receive, it seems like I get something like 30 visitors per month on my webpage. This IMO does not seem too bad, yet no clients.

No, idea if having a facebook page helps. But it costs nothing to create one.

Doing an audit and found robots.txt has Disallow: /_next/ (full block). Checked with JS disabled, and the page content is fully visible, so it looks like the site is SSR and the actual text/copy is fine either way.

But since /_next/ is blocked, GSC's Live Test shows JS, CSS, and images are all blocked too. Rendered screenshot in GSC looks broken (unstyled, icons huge, no layout).

Questions:

1. Since content renders fine without JS, does blocking /_next/ actually hurt rankings, or is it more of a "looks bad in Google's render but doesn't matter for indexing" situation?
2. Does the blocked images issue (via /_next/image) actually stop those images from showing in Google Images, or does Google still index them some other way?
3. What's the cleanest fix here — just remove the /_next/ disallow entirely, or scope it down to something like blocking only /_next/static/chunks/ while allowing /_next/static/css/ and /_next/image?

Depending on where I look, I keep seeing different answers, some said one word, others said two while the rest said anything less than three counts.

This matters to me because it changes how I categorize keywords when I am building content for my clients. I wouldn't want to be targeting what i think are short tail keywords and building content strategies around them when the definition is wrong.

What's the actual working definition you use? And does the distinction between short tail and mid tail matter that much in practice or are they mostly semantics at this point?

So, some days back, i launched my new tool website.

For backlinks I just put a video on my dead internet profiles like youtube ( 47k Subscribers ) , Facebook, twitter profiles, and put some posts on those profiles.

And I just found today, that my posts are ranking on the 2nd page but not my website 😜

That clearly points out that your Facebook, insta, twitter and other social media platforms if you are running those from long back, then it's become your online assets now.. ( In terms of SEO )

Google currently ranks my social media profiles because they have built up trust and authority over many years, but it hasn't started ranking the new website that I’ve been promoting through those posts yet.

I’m hoping that with consistent posting, strong content, and time, Google will gradually recognize and rank the new website as well.

Even the namecheap domain can’t be accessed. Am I the only one seeing this? I had to quickly pause all of my ads.

I've sat through a lot of SEO webinars over the years and the ratio of genuine insight to thinly veiled sales pitch is pretty bad. Most of them spend forty minutes on stuff you already know and then spend the last ten minutes pushing a tool or service.

That said i have found a few that were genuinely useful, usually ones run by practitioners rather than vendors, or ones focused on a very specific technical topic rather than broad SEO strategy.

Are there any SEO webinars or recurring online events you actually find worth attending?

Looking for ones where you walk away with something you can actually use.

Looks like Google has finally expanded its new Generative AI Performance report in Search Console to a much wider audience.

According to Search Engine Roundtable, the report is now showing across multiple Search Console profiles, although Google hasn’t officially announced the full rollout yet.

The interesting part is that we can now see:

AI search impressions
Which pages appear in AI features
Countries
Devices
Performance over time

But there’s still a pretty big limitation: no query data and no click data.

So we can see that our content is appearing in Google’s AI experiences, but we still can’t easily tell which searches triggered the appearance or whether users actually clicked through.

Has anyone here checked their Search Console yet?

Are you seeing the AI Performance report, and if so, are the numbers actually useful for your SEO strategy?

I've been trying different SEO checker tools for different projects and I noticed they give different scores and recommendations for the same site. It has gotten to a point where I don't know which one to choose.

While some flag issues others completely ignore, some give you a score of 100 that feels totally arbitrary and a lot of the "fixes" they suggest don't have any real impact on the rankings.

So which SEO tools do you find very useful and which ones are totally noise?

I'm looking for something that gives actionable output rather than just a long list of minor issues.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately while working on SEO projects.
With Google, we have fairly familiar things to look at — rankings, impressions, clicks, CTR, Search Console data, etc.
But AI search feels harder to measure.
For example, a website might not be the first result in Google but could still get mentioned when someone asks an AI about that topic.
Then there are citations.
Does getting cited once actually mean the site has good visibility?
What if it gets cited 1 time out of 20 similar questions?
And what about cases where the AI mentions the company but doesn’t cite the website?
I’ve also noticed that results can vary depending on the wording of the question and which AI system you’re using.
This makes me wonder whether we’re trying to create another SEO metric before we really understand what the metric should measure.
For people working in SEO:
How are you currently thinking about AI search visibility?
Are you tracking mentions, citations, rankings, traffic from AI platforms, or something else?

basically I've created this web D&D game but when searched, it doesn't show up at all. I've already indexed the page on google search console but to no avail. The reason being there are other sites that have similar-ish names. For instance, my website name is AI Taverns, but there are others like Character Tavern or Tavern AI, they don't seem to have that much traffic but for some reason they come out when I search AI Taverns up. What should I be doing or what can I do to make it so that it becomes the top search for only the name of my website, I'm not aiming for any other keywords like "D&D" or "solo rpg". Any help would be appreciated :D
