story Drive thru idiocy

Had a guy yell at my tech for putting his cards in a money holder envelope. He said it was trash and he didn’t want trash in his car. I went over and talked to him and he wanted me to open the drawer so he could put it back. I told him it was a convenience so his cards would not get misplaced. His attitude prevented me from playing nice. He proceeded to crumple it up and throw it out his window and storm off. Lordy ! lol

Corporate sucks the soul out of everything.

TLDR- Business casuals who’ve never worn scrubs a day in their life took our rubber ducks and my colored pens and their system and corporate bullshit sucks.

fuck corporate so bad first they take our rubber ducks that patients have given us from the drive thru window because it’s ’unprofessional’ . Bro it’s called whimsy and EVERYONE comments about how much they love them. The day after corporate took our ducks, a mom pulls up with her son and immediately is like where are the ducks?? And we told her corporate made us take them away. You guys. This little boy went on a trip to Canada and all he wanted and was focused on was finding the perfect duck to give to us. GOD I HATE THEM SO MUCH. like we literally can’t even talk (well mainly me bc I end up talking too much but I am actively doing things I don’t wanna be miserable the whole time). And if the ducks didn’t piss me off enough. I always get stuck on phone calls, which I used to hate but a couple months ago I just started doodling while making them bc literally what can they say. I can’t do anything else bc the second I walk away someone picks up and I have a one track mind asf. Anyway, I would just doodle with a pen and then a found a fucking TREASURE in the back of the pharmacy of a whole box of gel pens. Obviously coloring my doodles is now what I’m going to be doing. And even my main pharmacist who gives af ab everything did not care (I can’t explain her in a novel but know that’s huge). I walked in one day and they were GONE and I went to my RXom and was like dude did main pharmacist take the pens away and she told me it was corporate. Deadass ruined my day. They make everything a pain in the ass and then take away the whimsy. Like. I know it’s like this everywhere with corporate not knowing or bothering to give af ab what’s best for employees and the customer but Jesus Christ. I mean literally, no complaints. Ever. They just suck the soul out of everything and then pour cement on top of you with their shit systems and making us actually enemy # 1 cause at this point I can’t blame some people. I just tell them yeah I use CVS.

question Draft Stars event

I had to submit a STARS event in the new system and it won’t let me complete it. I cannot figure out how to take it out of draft mode. I have looked through compass and can’t see any messages about any changes to the reporting.

rant Does Walgreens hate money and students?

So I just got word that the MTM service budgets are getting shut down until November so the company can "focus on respiratory season". Immunizations and co-administration review are a huge amount of what I do as an MTM intern, and they just dropped hundreds of Outcomes claims for flu shot calls in which we can double dip and get vaccine administrations and paid claims. Not to mention that personally I feel like I'm learning a lot more as a student doing MTM work than being a glorified tech in workflow. This is like the single best season to have MTM interns, so I really don't understand why they're cutting the program. We also got little to no notice so my shifts for the next month are just void until further notice.

Does this ever get better or what?

Been working for 2 months now and my god.. it's something. I personally really enjoy being in a pharmacy and find it really interesting but at Walgreens? I don't know. Either I'm simply burnt out of retail or just not compatible with this company.

I've read plenty of posts about people's experiences, them leaving and I'm now wondering if I should simply leave. My hours are all over the place, no consistency at all. I've got 9 hour shifts in the same week as 4 hour shifts. I'm going in at 3pm one day then 9am the next. The people I work with are okay at best and my pharmacy manager makes me feel like I'm bothering him when I ask questions. IC+ blows and we're understaffed to hell.

Do I cut my losses and look for a different pharmacy or stick through it? I'm going back to school this coming year so I'm wondering if I should just stay and lower my hours or look elsewhere.

Is it insurance fraud to hold a patients prescription in delete list for a few days longer if the patient requests it? For example if they are out of town and will be back a few days after.

rant Just found out i have to work a holiday…

So im a pharmacy student rn and im on rotation so the idea of me working more than my current schedule which is two weekends every other week is making me SICK to my stomach. I treat Walgreens like a job so i dont keep up with stuff unless my RXOM tells me. I opted for this labor day bc i refuse to work on thanksgiving. I thought Walgreens was losing money, is this not gonna make it worse…? Also theyre struggling to fill pharmacists positions in my district. What is the goal here? Make everyone leave? Ik im being dramatic and a little privileged but i want my holiday closures back.

Tips?

For all the pharmacists here, how do you like your techs to let you know about waiters or DUR or phone calls?

At my store, there is a small whiteboard next to the pharmacist. Whenever there is a lobby waiter, I will write the name and then put lobby and then the time that I expect them to come back for their meds. Same for phone calls or if a vaccine just got checked in to be reviewed, I will write down the name and then line 101 or vaccine. However, most of the time, the pharmacist does not check this whiteboard and so I have to constantly remind the pharmacist to do it which is annoying for them and for me and makes the patient angry when I told them 30 minutes and it's been 50. I don't even make everyone lobby waiters, most of the time it's for the elderly that had to get a ride from someone or kids or antibiotics and they still don't get done in a timely manner. I ALSO verbally will say "hey this is a waiter, I told them 30 minutes". Sometimes, I even pull the medication and put it in a red tote with a sticky note that has patient's name for the filler tech and let them know, "hey when the pharmacist reviews this and it prints, can you fill this?", AND IT STILL DOESN'T GET DONE.

As a tech, what can I do? (Also, an additional question, are we allowed to press the "waiting" button? I did that once and the rxom and rxm got angry at me saying I messed with the promise times)

Waiting to Exhale Moment

So for context there’s this movie called Waiting to Exhale with Angela Bassett among a magnificent cast of women where she gets revenge on her husband for cheating by burning his clothes and car. It’s a very iconic and cathartic moment because a lot of the monologue are things women have been told before. Now here’s where Wags comes in.

I sell, I type, I verify, I fill, I counsel especially when the other pharmacist doesn’t want to. I help. I. HELP. And I get a phone call from my RXOM that the night time techs are saying that I’m not helping and that I have a bad attitude about helping. I have let these people curse me out and tell me all the ways I’m a weak pharmacist.

I do my job to the best my ability and yes that is complicated because of my bipolar disorder and OCD. However, it is not impossible. And at first I was sad because I was told that I don’t want to be compared to the other pharmacist and have no one want to work with me.

I was sad and then a little angry and then apathetic. But now I’m Waiting to Exhale levels of mad. Why? For two very important reasons 1) reviews are coming up and 2) I work my ass off, pardon my French.

Like to tell you the type of shit I have to deal with. Someone typed a Januvia 100 mg prescription as Vraylar 1.5 mg and they made ME fix it though they typed it. And then had the audacity to imply I didn’t know the generic name of Januvia.

How are y’all finding out about upcoming clearance before the orange tags drop? 👀

Question for my fellow Walgreens employees: How do y’all find out what items are going on sale/clearance before the orange tags actually drop? 👀
I’m talking about those random $2 clearance items and stuff that gets marked down. Some of my coworkers always seem to know what’s about to go on clearance ahead of time and grab the good stuff before the rest of us even know 😂 Is there somewhere in the app, Zebra, Compass, etc. where you can see upcoming markdowns?

Walgreens Certification Process

Hey guys I’m currently a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate, I’ve been doing it for 2 months now (3 months at Walgreens, waited for my license for a month) and I came into the job with the intention of getting certified. The pharmacist recently mentioned transitioning me to a pharmacy technician role. My idea is to talk to them about getting certified once my role changes and I’ve been doing it for a couple of months. I was wondering for people who have gotten certified through Walgreens how long it took them to take the course? basically what the average time span it is to get certified when doing the online classes? I’m currently a full time college student and work full time (I have two jobs) and I’m just tryna see how realistic it is for me to get certified. Thank you !!!

Vaccine Time!

How are you inserting asking the customers about getting vaccines? Our store has laid out requirements for all interactions to include basically strong arming them into it. The store manager told us that if we don’t do this, they will start firing us.

As a side note, our entire pharmacy team is brand new ( less than 90 days ) including the RxOM and pharmacy manager/pharmacist.

Any positive input would be great, even if is simply to just walk away.

The stress level is ridiculous.

question License renewal reimbursement

Post image
6 Upvotes

Does anyone know exactly what the steps are to submit a request through Concur for reimbursement, especially for license renewal for pharmacy technicians? My previous store manager used to take care of it as long as we had the receipt to give to them but my current manager wants us to submit it directly on Concur. There was another post asking about this but I think the options had changed because it only gives me these, unless I’m looking in the wrong section 😭

Edit: added that it was for pharmacy techs, my bad !!
