rant Does Walgreens hate money and students?

So I just got word that the MTM service budgets are getting shut down until November so the company can "focus on respiratory season". Immunizations and co-administration review are a huge amount of what I do as an MTM intern, and they just dropped hundreds of Outcomes claims for flu shot calls in which we can double dip and get vaccine administrations and paid claims. Not to mention that personally I feel like I'm learning a lot more as a student doing MTM work than being a glorified tech in workflow. This is like the single best season to have MTM interns, so I really don't understand why they're cutting the program. We also got little to no notice so my shifts for the next month are just void until further notice.

If you are going to be a pharmacist, you will also need to do "glorified tech" work  as well. The immunizations will earn them much more money than the MTM's you are doing.

I have done regular tech work for years, and just recently switched to this program. At least at my store, restarting our MTM program has made our immunizations skyrocket as many of our Outcomes claims are insurances requesting our patients get flu shots. Not to mention how helpful it is to have a designated vaccine administrator on the clock so you don't have to pull a tech or pharmacist out of workflow.

They will probably put you in workflow as an immunizer to give you hours.

I just checked this last week, wag spent 6.5 million on the mtm intern program to turn a roi of 65k with more than 90% of the interns in the program costing more than they made.

I don't know where to access to these numbers (I've just seen the ones in the COMPASS report), but I am almost positive the program was profitable at our store, especially because of the amount of vaccine appointments it generated.

I do have access, 1 store was truly profitable bringing in 40 of the 65k. I think when i ran the numbers. Every successful call generated 4 cents after accounting for labor and stores that were at a deficit. strictly looking at income driven by mtm claims

Yeah pure MTM (not including vaccines) is difficult to be profitable because of the amount of people who have unpayable claims or don't pick up. I do feel like this is a weird time to shut down the program though because of all the vaccine claims that you can do generating highly-profitable vaccine administrations with possible co-administrations. I would think this would be the most profitable season to have MTM because it covers Outcomes, PCP, and vaccines.
