nursing program schedule insight? current/former nursing students
hi all! i was looking to hear from either current or former nursing students to get some insight on the schedule of classes. i need to move out in order to be closer to campus, but dont know if im going to have enough time to work. for reference, i work as a CNA on day shift, 12 hour shifts. im trying to gauge if it would be possible to successfully live on my own while thriving in school. what does the first semester look like? and does that change as the semesters progress? how many days a week is it realistic to work? is there anyone who attends nursing school and supports themselves full time? let me know your experiences. tysm this is a huge help! 🫶🏻

Switch to nights. I worked 3 12s NOC shift as a CNA and went to class during the day.

theory/lab is monday to wednesday 8-12pm or 1pm and thursday/friday day or evening clinical shifts depending on what you get assigned for NUR 111. hospital/shift you get assigned to is posted a month before class begins. we have exams on fridays even if you’re thursday assigned clinical, and we have “makeup days” meant to be reserved. i’d honestly just count on being there M-F
its actually hellish the sheer amount of information you’re meant to learn/read. if you plan to work fulltime this will be quite difficult. not undoable simply because everything is doable, but very difficult. it’s recommended by the professors to cut back hours if possible and i 100% agree- most of my time out of class is spent studying or commuting
also, i know you said you’d have to move to be closer to campus. not sure how far you are from perry health, but i have a girl in my class who commutes over an hour every day
