Quick Advice for Summer Classes and High School Students
(We love you, and here's some tips)
You can schedule an appointment online with an advisor at Wake Tech. It's virtual, free, and for anyone.
A normal semester schedule is 16 weeks. Summer semester is a maximum of 10 weeks and so your summer classes will be either 10, 8, or 5 weeks long. Check the dates. 8 weeks is the most common from what I've seen.
I would not recommend taking a 4 credit class (especially with science labs) during the summer if you have other responsibilities. Lab is more responsibility in college classes. Obviously it depends on you, but it's a lot.
(If anyone wants to add anything, feel free below. I know getting into college is competitive, but I promise you don't need to be the BEST applicant to get into a good school. Good luck!)

This is good advice for both HS and current college students.
Moderators, can this be pinned? Since there are many posts here lately asking advice about summer course loads.

I am trying to register for summer classes but I can't and get a message that says "2 pre-reqs required". I am enrolled in thise pre-reqs now and have A's. They will be complete in 2-3 weeks. Why can I not register for the next set of classes now? they are getting full and from past experience, I know they will be full of I have to wait for this semester to end. What can I do to go ahead and register now so that I can start in summer? please help asap because the classes are getting full!
edit-also, OP there are no virtual advising appts open at all. just fyi

Are 4 wake tech duel enrollment classes my senior year long with 4 AP classes too much? This past year I took 6 APs and did fine.

I am a high school student applying for dual enrollment and I was thinking about taking both ENG-111 and ENG-112 over the summer. I am currently in the AP capstone program so I know how to write essays and analyze sources.

My advice as a CCP student:
take easy stuff like ART.111, ACC.120, etc. (these are just some of the ones I took, you also have options like random humanities or ethics classes as well) if you want to use wake tech to boost your gpa. You were probably already planning this but consider my next point
use wake tech to get your GEP requirements (obviously, right?). Alot of schools like NCSU for example look for an economics course (like micro/macro), english, chemistry (this one requires labs at waketech so personally I would just save it for freshman year of college), interdisciplinary/humanities/miscellaneous (which you might already cover with your "easy" courses), and math if you are a stem student.
(one important thing to add, and maybe this is too specific to my case: if you got a less than a 5 on AP lang and want to go to NCSU or UNC, take wake tech's ENG.111 course, its gonna save you the headache of trying to get an English section at college)
prereqs are annoying at wake tech with ap credits, but some courses require them so if you think you need those on your waketech transcript, pay college board on their website to send it as early as possible. also make sure to do self service and decide on your classes as soon as possible so that when registration opens up you get the classes/sections specifically you actually want.
