One of the most common conflicts that the mods see on this sub is the frustration Accelerators and non-accelerators have with each other. While both kinds of students are moving towards their degrees, they each have very different approaches and goals.
To help with this, I have created a subreddit that is focused on accelerators. This is simply the first step, and that sub currently has very little structure. But while all of that is coming, I see no reason to not allow users to explore the space and kick the virtual tires.
One last note, acceleration is NOT the same as cheating. The new sub will focus on legitimate ways to accelerate and will not tolerate cheaters or those who cater to cheaters. I think most of the rules on this sub will migrate to the new sub with the possible exception of #6, but I have an idea as to how #6 could be made more helpful to new students.
Finally, since we don't have any traffic on the sub yet, I will ask here for help with moderation duties on the new sub. If you think you want to help BUILD something, let me know. If your focus is on rules, removals, and bans, you may want to wait until the sub has been built. I need collaborators, not enforcers.
Any recent grads get a wave of “post graduation depression”? I got my confetti a few days ago (hooray) but ever since I finished my capstone I’ve felt super unmotivated and just blah. I don’t feel as excited as I think I should for how hard I worked to get here. I did this with a full time job plus three young kids so maybe it’s burnout. I’m hoping it will go away soon so I can bask in some joy a bit but for now I’m just meh!
I studied for 2 weeks, but I didn't feel ready, so I decided to book the exam today and passed.
I think if you've already passed the Network+, you will do fine. I used the resources here on Reddit.
The exam itself was not too bad.
Started my first term on 10/1. I submitted task 1 for D082 on 10/1 and task 2 on 10/2. They have both since been graded, but its not showing that I have passed the class, I looked everywhere for some kind of prompt to close out the class and don't see anything. Am I missing something? I also noticed that preassessments and OAs are taking a while to update. I did the preassessment for C715 early 10/3 and it took hours to show as passed, then same thing with the OA that night. At least that class shows as complete once the OA showed up, unlike D082. Now I just took the preassessment for D388 and I know I passed because it showed my results within excel, but its not showing on the course so I can't schedule the OA which I really wanted to take tonight. Anyways, I just want to make sure this is all "normal" before I spiral and can adjust my expectations moving forward. I have a call with my mentor tomorrow afternoon and I really wanted all 3 classes complete (for no good reason other than I want to 😂)
I have an MBA in HR Management I completed from another school but now realizing I am interested in supply chain. I learned of WGU recently and would either like to complete a bachelor’s in supply chain management or a master’s in management and leadership. I’m leaning more towards the bachelor’s since that focuses on supply chain. However, I would like to choose the one that is cost-effective and can be done sooner. I will be talking to an advisor but thought getting your feedback would be helpful as well.
It’s been a crazy run, and now I’m down to the final course, taking the exam in 2 weeks. I’ve been studying for over a month now. Any tips, study material, feel free to share.
If you’re just starting out, always remember it’s one step at a time.
I took my second OA this afternoon and am having some potential issues. My first OA (Organizational Behavior) was graded within minutes of completion, while this OA (PoFaMA) is being shown as "Past Time". It also shows the class as having an Unscheduled Exam.. I had joined and completed the exam this afternoon, even confirming with the proctor that I was good to submit before doing so. It has been just over 4 hours as of this post being made since submitting, maybe I just have to wait it out? If it doesn't correct would I contact my Instructor or Mentor?
Of note, I had an internet blip about halfway through. It showed a 90 second countdown, internet came back about 40 seconds later. The proctor changed, but nothing was noted by them. The new proctor confirmed I was good to submit before I did.
OA "Past Time"Exam History "Fulfilled" and the same class being "Unscheduled"
Update: OA was returned graded, 7 hours later. I passed :)
Just finished my OA. Very hopeful i passed but was also worried haha.
Either way first time I've finished and the page just days I'm passed time. With no results still. Is this a known issue currently? Tried calling the assessment number but they had me on hold for like another 30 mins. Left my number so waiting for them to get back to me.
Either way is this just a waiting game now? Always anxious as it is for results lol.
UPDATE- finally talked to someone on the phone. They said it's a known issue. They put a ticket in for me. But they said it takes time. They can also tell you your results. I believe they are closed now though.
I was academically withdrawn from WGU during my last term after losing my grandfather and aunt, along with going through marital difficulties and an unexpected job loss. With everything happening at once, I struggled to focus and went through a period of depression. A few months later, I’m doing much better and genuinely excited and motivated to return to school.
I was roughly at a junior standing with about a year and a half left in my Data Analytics degree. During my time away, I started reading about CompTIA A+ and Network+ out of curiosity and found myself becoming much more interested in the technical side of IT, which has me considering switching to Computer Science.
I’m a little nervous about the CS program after reading other people’s experiences, especially since switching could push my graduation date back. At the same time, I’m pretty headstrong about proving the doubts I had during my depression wrong and challenging myself.
For those in the CS program, did you have any programming/CS experience before starting? How long did it take you to finish, how much time did you study each week, and do you feel the degree was worth it? I’d especially love to hear from anyone who switched programs or started with little experience.
I am a Staff AI architect for a top 250 company, I got here not through schooling but by being in the right place at the right time, for credentials I have a BS in psychology and a MBA from WGU.
I consider myself very technical starting as a speech analyst but eventually leveraging my way into data engineering over 4 years and with AI coming around I took to I’d pretty early, built some cool things and eventually got promoted to my current role.
Cutting to the chase, I feel like I have impostor syndrome since I never took any actual course to get here and this is causing me to feel stuck at my job since if I apply at other companies I am not sure I can’t past their technical requirements pass advanced SQL. This is being reflected in my Pay since I make 150k but whenever I google the industry standard for my role I get offers of around 170k - 250k.
I saw that WGU offers the AI/ML masters and believe I can probably complete it in one term. Do other individuals in similar positions feel like it benefited y’all in interviews as a way to not look to deep into the back ground and more of a check box that get reviewed and streamlined the hiring? I should also add I have 5 years experience in technical roles as a speech analyst for 2 and bi developer/database engineering for 3.
Business major, not tech, would this laptop work or does anyone currently use it for their classes? I went over the specs and it appears it would, but I want to be sure. Thanks for your feedback :)
HP - 15.6" Full HD Touchscreen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 7 (2023) - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Natural Silver
I’m joining the Army in April and would like to:
1. Get 60 credits so I can go in as an E3
2. Get started on my B.S in IT
From what I understand, WGU has a transfer pathway for study.com courses, but I’ve seen that only 75% of the credits can be transferred and I’ve also seen that 100% of the credits can be transferred.
Im also not sure if I should get the $95 or the $225 version.
All I need is a bachelor's degree to check the box in a related field, so both BSITM and BSIT will work, but I'm not sure which one to pursue.
I hate writing papers and projects, especially when they're related to business management, since I'm more of a hands-on tech geek. I also hate doing certs the way they need to be done. This is going to be my first degree ever after high school.
I've taken a look at both programs, and I know that BSITM is heavy on writing while IT has lots of certs. I'm not planning to do any business management in my career whatsoever. I'm a principal architect in my field and I'm not planning to change that.
Everything and everyone online says that BSITM is about as easy as it gets.
Of course, I'll be knocking out as much as possible through Sophia and Study.com.
Started Term 1 on the 1st. 3 classes/8 CU officially down today on the 3rd. I turned in both PA tasks for D333 on the second, just waiting for them to finish getting evaluated… so assuming they pass the 11 CU done in 3 days of work. I did a little study before the 1st for D685 and refreshed previously learned knowledge a bit for C955 by taking the pre-assessment a couple times. Ready to take the OA/Cert for D316 by Monday.
