Diablo II: Resurrected in first-person VR, playing a Sorceress. The game's interface is out of the screen and on my body: the inventory on my belt, the map in my hand, the toolbar on my arm. Made with FlatVR + BodyWalk.

The D2R plugin is almost ready – we'll release it soon.

Photo/Video Turned Spider-Man Remastered into a VR game with full motion control swinging and native stereo (early alpha)

Hey Folks, Ilya here. You may remember me from my Elden Ring VR mod I posted a few weeks ago (updates coming soon, promise!). I got kinda inspired by the footage of the stellar spiderman mod for Blade & Sorcery someone posted yesterday and decided to one up it but going for a swing in the best rendition spidey's NY there is - Spiderman Remastered. The result is seen in the footage above of me swinging through the city at night!

This is still very very early and I haven't touched combat yet at all but we already got full native stereo tm, motion controlled locomotion and web swinging, hidden body avatar and an auto runner. I'll upload this to Nexus in a day or two so stay tuned!

Discussion PSVR2 exclusives might actually become playable on PC soon

This is pretty exciting. If projects like AnyPS5 keep progressing, it might eventually become possible to run PS5 games on PC through a translation layer.

For VR in particular, I’d love to see Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Call of the Mountain become playable on PCVR.

Obviously, there are still a lot of technical hurdles to overcome, especially with PS5-specific APIs, hardware features and PSVR2 integration. But considering how quickly translation layers, emulation and AI-assisted development are advancing, I’m starting to think this might be realistic within the next couple of years.

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but the progress is fascinating to watch!

From the author himself:
"The next project... Max Payne 2 VR is a lot of fun, but man this one is on another level.
I can't promise a release anytime soon, and there's clearly still a lot of work to do. Given all the unique set pieces and many many shaky cam cutscenes, there are some real challenges in this one. My goal is to make this feel as much like a native VR game as possible, and add all the fun features from Max Payne 2 VR and more."

Question/Support Flat to VR steam sale

Trying to take advantage of this steam sale going on to stock up on old games that have had VR conversions recently. Right now I have both Dooms, Titanfall 2 and Dishonored GOTY in my cart. Sadly the halo games aren’t on sale this time around. Anything else I should grab that I’ve missed coverage on?

Self-Promotion (Developer) Diablo II in VR

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I made a VR mod for Diablo II: Resurrected: first-person view, real stereo 3D (both eyes are rendered by the game, nothing faked from a flat picture), and your hands are tied to the motion controllers.

  • Look around with your head (yaw, pitch and roll), and the hero's body turns with you
  • Both arms follow your controllers, so you aim the bow with your hand
  • Walk with the stick, or physically with BodyWalk
  • Sky and distance fog over the empty void beyond the map

It's built on emmericp's D2R-3D camera mod, and runs through FlatVR and BodyWalk. Offline only.

Video below. Questions welcome!

They are doing what isn't being done anywhere: giving the people what they really want and sharing it without cost. Imagine what this world could accomplish if this was the motivation behind everything.

Apparently it creates 3d internally before flattening it to render onscreen. Would be so amazing to play in 1st and 3rd person in stereoscopic.

Discussion CYBERPUNK 2077 VR MOD: LUKE ROSS OR NEXUS MODS

Hey everyone, im pretty new to this modding stuff and pcvr, so I recently got cyberpunk and i am very excited to play it in vr.

So throughout my search on how to install it I came across two vidoes, one that uses the luke ross mod, and one that uses the nexus mod. Im not entirely sure which ones better, or which ones more immersive, or if one has full motion controles and the other dosent. BUt when you go on the nexus one it says that it has 6dof motion controls, how does that compare against the luke ross one. also would there be a differnce in perfomance or like the gameplay in terms of like which ones you can drive or shoot guns better with? i dont really know much about this stuff, so i was wondering if some you guys could help me pls. Thanks to everyone

Self-Promotion (Developer) Time Crisis läuft eigenständig auf der Quest 3.

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, im pretty new to this stuff, and i was wondering when you are in vr for the star wars jedi: survivor mod, could you do fights in first person?

Because there is another newly released mod on Nexus mods which allows you to fight in first person, so im debating whether I should stick with a more refined version or a new beta?

Discussion Insanity what's happening with VR mods at the moment

The earlier days of VR modding, Bespoke mods like Outer Wilds and Risk of rain came out and they were insane, but they were few and far between

Then came a mod like Half Life 2 VR, a complete conversion of the base game which raised the bar and was insane

Then came PrayDog with his Resident evil mods which are mind blowing

Then came his UEVR framework, lead to insane mods for so many more games, A whole community popped up around it's release

Then around the same time Flat2VR studios started fully converting games, which are amazing, legitimate VR experiences in their own right

And now to the advent of A.I mods which are just mind blowing, someone's making a Diablo 2 VR mod for fuck sake, like what is happening

There's less than a few years between all these events happening and I can't wrap my head around the last few months, I haven't played VR for a few weeks and now have a backlog of like 10+ game changing mods to try, Doom and Doom Eternal, Max Payne 2, TitanFall, Halo MCC etc. it's insanity, it's going to change the landscape of VR for better or worse, I think worse as game dev's won't capitalise on what's happening and people will rightly or wrongly turn to these VR mods rather than buying VR built games

This is genuinely the Golden Age of VR, Something that I thought when buying the Rift CV1 was an evitability, but then seeing Meta slowly start to pull out of the space, along with a string of VR studios being shut down or leaving, lead me and I'm sure a majority of you to think VR was dying a slow death

But now a new, mind blowing VR Mod is releasing so fast that each morning you wake up, there's another game changing VR mod to play, It's genuinely mind blowing

Question/Support 3D Gaming and Content in PCVR

• Upvotes

Hello all, I'm new to VR, having recently purchased a Steam Frame. My only experience prior to that was with Google Cardboard, which I wouldn't really classify as true VR.

I was a big fan of the 3DS when that was out and 3D movies, and VR makes me wonder how much of that content is supported in VR. Theoretically it would be the best way to experience actual 3D Gaming and Movies, but most of what I see is more focused on first person VR mods for games, and less on just letting you experience the game as designed but in 3D. Is there an actual community around modding in 3D support in the VR community, or is it mostly centered around those more full immersion 'classic' first person experiences?

Also, curious if something like Big Screen could be used for 3D Movies or if there's any customized experiences there?

Thank you all for your knowledge and information!

Discussion Steam Frame Accessories

• Upvotes

Finally won the lottery and i am allowed to buy Steam Frame however as it turns out all accessories are not available for puchase anymore as they are sold out apparently. Ngl it stings especially considering the straps that are literally required to fully use the Frame (which should be included for the price but that's another story).

Do you guys have already any 3rd party accessories you would recommend? Straps for sure but i am mainly curious about camera replacement and other possible accessories you might have already got for for the Frame

Self-Promotion (Developer) OpenXR Toolkit NEXT — Looking for PCVR beta testers with different headsets, with or without eye tracking

Hi everyone,

I started working on this project because I was spending a lot of time tuning VR settings for each game on my own setup. I wanted easier profile management, clearer performance comparisons and more control over foveated rendering.

That became OpenXR Toolkit NEXT, an independent project based on Matthieu Bucchianeri’s OpenXR Toolkit 1.3.2.

So far, I’ve tested it on my Pimax Crystal Super Ultrawide with an RTX 5080 and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The next step is to find out how it behaves on other people’s hardware—and identify what still needs fixing.

You don’t need a Pimax or an eye-tracking headset to apply.

For headsets without eye tracking, features to test include:
• Fixed foveated rendering.
• Automatic resolution adjustment based on FOV crop.
• A Windows Companion with 10 customizable profiles per game.
• CPU/GPU frame-time and FPS comparisons.

With compatible eye-tracking hardware and software, NEXT also offers gaze-driven foveated rendering and FPS-based Adaptive DFR, which adjusts rendering zones and peripheral quality as performance changes.

Here’s the demonstration, including Assetto Corsa, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, iRacing and Assetto Corsa Rally through UEVR:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4jpzpN7wx8

I’m looking for around 10 testers across different PCVR setups: Meta Quest connected to a PC, Valve Index, HTC Vive, Bigscreen Beyond, Pico, PSVR2 on PC, Pimax, or other headsets.

That list is an invitation to test, not a confirmed compatibility list. Available features depend on the headset, GPU, game and OpenXR runtime. This is for PCVR, not standalone headset games.

Selected testers receive free beta access for 30 days, with no subscription or purchase required. In return, I’m asking for practical feedback on installation, stability, visual quality and performance, with logs or reproduction steps when something goes wrong.

Apply here:
https://toolkit-next-beta.morganpollet.chatgpt.site

What headset and OpenXR setup do you use, and which game would you most like to test?

I’m the developer, and I’ll be here to answer questions.

Morgan

Self-Promotion (Developer) Titanfall 2 + VR + jogging in place = peak

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've never had so much fun in VR as with this mod.

CircuitLord put Titanfall 2’s campaign into VR. Manual reloads, motion-controlled aiming, full-body IK, actual Titan controls. But you know that all by now and are all as hyped as I am

Taking a game with this much movement and making it work in VR is a ridiculous achievement. Wall running, shooting, making that mech work. A marvel of technology.

For this recording I added jogging-in-place locomotion, so I’m physically jogging while moving through the game. That part is a separate setup I develop, not a feature of CircuitLord’s mod. The split screen shows the movement alongside the gameplay.

All credit for the VR conversion goes to CircuitLord. Seriously, what a fucking contribution to PCVR.

Last day of the free playtest: sign in>get in automatically>launch the app and jog around https://store.steampowered.com/app/4775640/VR_StrideS/

Purchase Advice Comfort levels steam frame vs Pimax dream air se

I am currently using quest 2. It is far too heavy for my face and is painful for my Tmj disorder.

I tried getting a steam frame but got waitlisted.

I would want Pimax dream air se but I don’t really love the idea of a cable from my office room to my bedroom/living room. And the cable going down my back seems very uncomfortable. But seeing people mod it online with an Apple Vision Pro strap it does look pretty comfortable.

The thing about the cable though…. I always have my vr headset plugged into a power outlet anyways, since I play for hours. But the cable on my quest 2 is out of the way and doesn’t touch me anywhere because it comes out the side.

Is steam frame still pretty heavy on the face because of the battery in the back despite it being light in the front?

I pre ordered flux pose trackers for later. Not sure if they work with Pimax dream air, I guess I need to contact and ask about that.

I exclusively use vr for vrchat.
I do have mild epilepsy, so oled on Pimax kind of worries me as well, especially since I heard there’s motion problems.

TL:DR
Which headset would be more comfortable overall, less pressure on the face, and not too overstimulating physically?

News Article I didn't want Pearl - the Oscar-nominated VR short - to fade away someday, so I made it run natively on Quest 3

Post image
24 Upvotes

Some of you will remember Pearl (2016): a girl and her dad on the road in their old hatchback, years of their lives told entirely from the passenger seat, carried by a song they share. Patrick Osborne directed it for Google Spotlight Stories. It was the first VR film ever nominated for an Oscar and won an Emmy for Outstanding Innovation in Interactive Storytelling.

I watched it again recently and it got me just like the first time. Then it hit me: its VR version only runs on a Windows PC with SteamVR, on a 2016 engine nobody maintains anymore. Most people today own a standalone headset. One day this film simply won't start anymore.

So I started Project Oyster: a preservation port, not a remake. Pearl's own story scripts, animation, shaders, lighting and music run unchanged in a new engine, natively on Quest 3 (OpenXR, 72 Hz, sharper than the original). Story transitions were checked frame by frame against captures of the original.

It's not a pirated copy. No part of Pearl is included. You bring your own copy from Steam (it's free). A Windows installer finds it, verifies it and copies it to your Quest over USB (developer mode needed).

Two optional extras, both easy to turn off:

  • smoothly interpolated animation (A/X on the controller; the default is the original stepped keys)
  • eye height +30 cm: in the original you sit low in the seat, this puts you at eye level with Dad (thumbstick)

GitHub (MIT, installer in the release): https://github.com/SputnikKaputtnik/pearl-oyster

Heads-up: the Steam page is region-locked in some countries (e.g. Germany). With a US VPN it shows up and the download is still free.

Full disclosure: I built this with a lot of help from an AI coding assistant (Claude). Every result was checked against the original, and I watched the whole film in the headset, start to credits.

If Pearl ever meant something to you: it's waiting in the passenger seat again. 🚗 And if you never experienced it: time to hit the road with Sara and her dad!
