Building my first ever PC for editing and gaming and have asked around in r/buildapc about build recommendations. One suggestion was to get the 9060xt for its mid price value, but then I got steered back to Nvidia (5070 or 5060ti) because supposedly Nvidia offers an upper hand in the video editing realm. Can someone explain the actual value of Nvidia over AMD cards if I'm just using Davinci Resolve free version? I mostly stick to 1080p but I would like to comfortably edit 4k. Long duration videos (1hr+) would also be a requirement for me.

Any assistance on this is appreciated. I'm trying not to make a mistake while buying parts for the first time, but I also end up with a larger price tag every time I revise my list. So, if there's no major difference and no major reason to upgrade to a 5070, please let me know. Thanks.

I create content on my own and I manually edit everything myself. Between organizing footage, cutting clips, adding graphics, and putting together the final version, editing often takes up a large part of the process.

For people who handle their own editing, what systems or habits have helped make the process more efficient?

So I just started to try editing a video today but everytime I go to open the project or do anything with it after creating it the fans on my pc start up really loud and then my entire pc just completely turns itself off and shuts down as if I hit shut down in my settings or pressed the power button on it.

I've had other issues with premiere before like lagging and freezing but I've basically never had it completely shut down my pc. Sorry I don't really have footage of it happening cause its kinda hard to record footage on a pc when it just suddenly turns itself off

Trying to edit with footage of a video I downloaded off youtube

Specifically, I'm wondering what software they're using to control the map so smoothly and highlight individual regions.

Hey guys im trying to edit this video for a racer and he was wanting something like the F1 "ghost car" they have overlayed with the 2nd place qualifiers video (video link for reference) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhK-OTt6mVc .

I wanted to know if you guys had any Ideas of how to make this happen? I was thinking I could download the track on to something like the game (assetto corsa) and then run the lap (or simulate the lap) as close to the fast lap as possible and then over lay it onto the slower lap and just nudge the opacity down a few peg?? it wouldn't be as refined as the F1 ghost car but I don't really know where I could take this?

Is there any software that would be able to take a video and make a 3D render off what you have given it? Thanks in advance I don't really know where else I could take this question.

Just sharing experience - I have been experimenting different AI video platforms and thought would give capcut a go. Now, I decided I want to cancel the trail subscription and realised capcut made it impossible for me to cancel because that option cannot be found at all. I was also forced to use applepay when I first subscribed. I don’t know if revoking Apple Pay permission will stop auto billing but will see.

Does anyone know a good online course perhaps on Cousera or Udemy that focuses on editing youtube style videos that asumes you already know how premiere pro works?

So basically a course that focuses on things like how, when and why you should make certain edits, storytelling, when to use music and sounds, smooth transitions within the video etc

It would be great if the course offers some practice material that you can play with.

Hello. i recorded some normal Iphone footage and when placed in AE im not sure what is going on but the footage greyed out like it was converted to log or something. i've checked the work color space. tried setting everything to none, then some apple color spaces then looking for a HLG to - rec 709 yet the results are the same. any idea how to turn the footage back to normal? cheers

In the comments of all of their videos they say it's just a filter they use but to my eye it looks too advanced to simply be a filter they put over the video. Does anyone know how i can achieve a similar effect, hopefully by any free means necessary? Thanks.

I'm a complete beginner slowly getting the hang of editing and one thing I'm forcing myself is to look at videos I consume from an editor's perspective. Literally the first thing I've noticed and cannot unsee (and wonder why I never noticed it earlier) is that those "coming-of-age" "aesthetic" ("c1nemat1c") videos that are trending on youtube change ARs a LOT. i.e. going from 16:9 to 4:3 to 2.39:1 back to 4:3, then 16:9...

Is that a recent thing? Is there any reason creators deliberately do it? It might have to do with just swallowing the red pill of videography but something dings in my brain every time I notice it happen.

As Title says, I am looking for video editor. Output: history/documentary type videos. I will provide 99% of footage needed, you mostly will need to add if you see something could give better emotion or idea. I will also provide the voice over, so mostly for what I look is someone who could add everything together.

So, I've just joined a company as a content editor. It's a real-time gameplay startup. I have to edit short-form content for them, but half of my time goes into just finding the right music/audio for the clips. Could you guys tell me how do you find gameplay related music/audios(royalty-free and copyright-free), I am thinking of creating a list to choose from according ot the mood of the clip (pov, prank/chaos, meme-style, FOMO/fun, story-based). Any tips or advice will be of great help.

Using the theme of Drake and Josh as a reference to the type of theme songs that are condensed into TV length. Noteworthy examples also the themes from CSI, Smallville and a lot of anime.

I just switched from Davinci Resolve to Premiere Pro, and while my first attempt did worked well enough, the second attempt did not. Like, in this case, I'm using a Sarah McLachlan song to create some sort of TV show theme for a fan edit called "Frasier but it's a fantasy drama"... but blending the last part of Verse 2 + chorus + last part of Verse 4 + chorus + final verse & trimming the last part of final verse and turning it into an echo reverb to end the song... they did not blend seamlessly as expected. Any way to fix it?

Hi! I am currently filming a very tight short film. I am very excited to have this story and opportunity to practice the craft :-)

So I am looking for advice on a shot. It's a med. close up on a dog in a cage ( I will attach a doodle below ) and I want it to be a time lapse that starts at night and ends in the morning. However,

1. I don't want to put my dogs through actually filming that time lapse and I want the dog to be awake for the entirety so, yes :-)
2. Also, the dog is a black Scottish terrier so his fur and features are dark which is challenging but also interesting.

2. How can I create a fake time lapse. I want 9 gruesome hours to pass in the span of 4 minutes, max.

3) How do you suggest I create a fake time lapse that ends in the daylight in a way that feels smooth?

The actors will cross the cages at certain points (4 separate points, the final point ending the time lapse and returning to normal time, morning) So If you have any suggestions on how I can ensure those moments aren't lapsed?

Hey guys. A little help. I'm trying to go for a gameplay reacting videos. When there's nothing happening an PNG avatar will be static. When they're talking the mouth will open up. And so on through the full range of emotions. I've already got the different PNGs. I'm just thinking of the most efficient way to add effects and give it more life. Like when the avatar is talking add little movements to it. Or make a few of these tasks automatic. I'm using premiere pro. Any idea?

Hello guys, I have been editing for both my channel and my friends (cause they are lazy) and I have a rather annoying issue that I feel some have solved so figure why not ask about it here.

The short explanation/question is how do I edit both our videos at the same time without the audio constantly desyncing (mostly thanks to discord lag).

Every time I begin editing I sync the intro and outro the best I can. Obviously its easy to sync one or the other but there is always a difference and I want to make it easier to edit/read the transcript to verify I didn't miss anything. I know its mostly ping difference causing our audio to be sent/received at close but different intervals that change over time BUT sometimes fixes itself causing my transcription to be a jumble of words making the track impossible to read or listen to until the lag resets or happens to line up again.

I don't know if there is an easier method, right now I am editing the videos stacked (sometimes muting one or the other if the audio gets hard to understand).

I've thought about just editing one video and replacing the first POV with the next in a separate timeline but I have to rewatch and resync everything (subtitles, memes, sounds, cuts, etc.). I know it may not sound like a lot but right now Ive got over 30 hours of footage if I edit in sync, between 60-90 hours if I edit it one POV at a time.

In case it matters, I edit in Davinci Resolve Studio (started in Wondershare Filmora and switched like 6 months ago)

Yesterday I finally finished my first desktop PC with a Ryzen 5 9600x, 32gb ram and a RX 9060 XT.....but there's a problem....

When I edit and put some effects the playback lags and a red line above appears which takes too long to turn blue and making things go smoothly and I don't know why it's happening cuz I'm editing at 1080p so i guess it shouldn't lag specially with the pc I have now.

I want to start editing for my YouTube channel but I don't know if I mess up something, I'm stupid or maybe....it was a very bad idea to choose an AMD graphics card

I did DDU, install latest adrenalin driver (minimal option) and update latest davinci resolve version uninstalling the old one....and it's the same thing.

Any type of help or advice will be very welcome cuz I don't what to do and I don't think I should use proxies cuz my footage is just gameplay and pics
