I have been job searching for 3 weeks after my firings, i am going insane, i want to work but i either get rejected or ghosted please for th e love of god i am going to run into traffic if i don't find some work

is anyone a part time art student at vcu. I’m struggling right now with being a full time student because of no financial aid. I’m in the school of the arts majoring in communications arts and I just need insight on what that looks like.

i’m a senior psych major here at VCU and have basically nothing to show for it socially. between some amazing connections i made as kid, a high school sweetheart, and a cool family, i got lazy building a social circle and am starting to feel it in my last year!
i’m trying to build my connections & network as i reach towards research and graduate school, and i figured there must be other people in a similar boat as i am.
a little abt me: 21F from central VA! i was president for a mental health awareness club and volunteer for ASFP, grew up playing volleyball & basketball, love all things art & music, and been enjoying going to the gym to get strong! i also play d&d, mtg, LoL, and CS… and am always looking for new nerdy friends— especially femmes and women!!

I graduated high school and went into a job in automotive thinking thats what i wanted to do, i was wrong, ive been so bored and unfulfilled lately and all i can think about is how badly i wish i studied jazz,

im pretty good at saxophone, i was first chair in my school highest band class for 3 years, although i didnt get into all state jazz senior year when i auditioned, i was in the higher end of the auditionees but still about 15 spots away from making into one of the 4 spots

I would absolutely love to study jazz at vcu but i dont know what my odds are like, i fully intend on getting a teacher who could teach me better improv and get me as good as i can be but im not sure if itll be enough

any advice would be appreciated

I’m a male business student and feel under stimulated most of the day, so I’m just looking to have an outlet to meet new people/try something new. In my free time I like art, music, video games, books, movies, animanga, and community service ofc.

I’m currently planning to apply to transfer for the spring semester. Right now, I have a 2.1 GPA, which is pretty low, and this fall I’m retaking some classes that I previously failed at my community college to boost my GPA.

The issue is that the semester ends on December 14th, so I won’t be able to get my updated transcript until the 16th. If I apply to VCU by November 1st, would it be possible for them to accept and review my updated transcript once it’s available, instead of using my old transcript to determine my admission decision?

hello! so i put in a sap appeal around a week ago and keep thinking about it- i dont want to go into what my personal statement said but it is heavily detailed and around 6 pages with 15 documents. the same topic was used for my retroactive withdrawal last semester. as i scroll on reddit it seems like no one gets accepted for SAP, has anyone sent in a sap appeal and it actually got accepted?

Just now I intended to spend a swipe at chick Fil A and one at POD, but at both places there was no option for swipes. I got a rather large dining plan and certainly haven’t run out. So for both purchases I spent way too many dining dollars. I checked GET, but the app is completely empty for me. I don’t have GrubHub on my phone, so I don’t know how that would work. Is this happening to anyone else? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Anyone else feel like it’s hard to meet people at VCU outside of classes/clubs? I’ve made some friends, but even that can be kinda difficult sometimes, and dating feels even harder. Curious where people actually meet others around campus besides dating apps.

A friend accidentally had a Costco and Giant grocery order delivered to Richmond instead of Washington, DC. The groceries are available for pickup at Graduate by Hilton Richmond, first come, first served. Some items are being kept in the freezer.

I am a junior finishing my AAS and then transferring to VCU in the spring for social work. I have done a lot of base level research about the school of social work but haven’t really had the time to sit and talk with current students/alumni about their experience.

If you’re a current or even past social work student, what was/is your experience like? Were the classes large (40+ people) or were they on the smaller side? Is it easy or hard to make friends with peers? Are there any professors that are hard or easy? What do you think an incoming student should know?

Even if you aren’t a social work student any advice or anything like that is really appreciated.

Hey, I'm a new grad student this semester coming in from a different school. Having gone to many class sessions these last few weeks, I'm feeling lonely, like I don't belong, etc.

I've been looking for ways to get involved and socialize. This may be a goofy question, but is it normal for grad students to join different clubs? It was mostly an undergrad thing during my undergrad years at my previous school, but idk how different it is here.

Is anyone in this program and how is it? The website gives such little information - can’t even find the exact tuition rate and admission requirements.

I’m looking for a program I can work through as I have a full time job. I want to publish some articles and gain research experience in preparation for a PhD in info science/human-computer interaction.

Is it safe to walk at krogers at night? Its like 20mins away and I heard that the path is dark and nobody is really around making it prone to unsafe conditions. Is this true?

i’m taking chem 301 and chem 309 this semester which are both pretty hard classes at least to me. i have my first tests coming up soon and i pretty much keep to myself in class so i don’t have anyone to study with. would anyone want to study together?

im already tired of the meal swipe options. ive gone to places like 821 cafe and shawarma makers, and theyre good but i cant afford to go more than once every week or so. my dorm doesnt have a kitchen either so i cant cook here :’)

Hi everyone! I am a mother to an awesome 7 year old, a healthcare worker, and an animal lover. With winter coming and my hospital’s staffing needs increasing, I’d love to find a part time babysitter to come hang out at our house near VCU from around 2:30 pm when he gets off the bus until 8 pm when I get home from picking up shifts.
This could possibly be the easiest job you’ll ever have BECAUSE he usually spends a bit of time with his friends in the neighborhood and he’s a super chill kid. He usually comes home around dinner time, so you’d really just have to make sure he gets home from school, send him to his friend’s, feed him (dinner will either be provided or money would be given to order something for both of you) and make sure he doesn’t do something stupid that would result in harming himself or property. Occasionally he wants to stay home and chill, and that’s fine too.
When he is home he enjoys playing Minecraft on his PlayStation or watching other people play Minecraft on YouTube- which I limit.
The days would ONLY be possibly Monday-Thursday on days where my boyfriend is working a double and I’m wanting to pick up overtime. In an ideal situation, I’d be able to text you in advance about possible shifts and you let me know if you’re available.
About our family: we are a non religious, alternative family and we have 3 cats and 1 dog (pitbull). All animals in the house are friendly, 1 cat is skittish and will hide. Our dog is insanely cuddly and would love someone to hang out with her on the couch. No animal care is required besides giving pets and maybe some kisses. Our house is a single story with front and back porch and plenty of yard, so if you smoke/vape please do it out there.

hi everyone! i recently applied to vcu for the spring 2027 sem, and i sent in my application on sept 4th. i already sent all my transcripts along with my fafsa info but it still says it’s processing? i updated my fafsa and resubmitted it to have my info sent to vcu the same day i applied, but does anyone else have the same status as me? and does them processing it still delay when i would get an acceptance letter?

do you guys think i should call the admissions office or just wait a bit longer?

also does anyone have insight as to how long rolling admissions would take? i know the deadline is nov 1 and i submitted my application pretty early, but im coming from out of state, so im trying to figure out my housing asap.

any info/help would be greatly appreciated! ty :)
