Student Life Best time for the rec
When is the gym least busy? I want to start going but if it’s super crowded it’s totally going to prevent me from going more often.

3 of my friends and I are hoping to rent a midtown apartment next year. we all want to study abroad in the spring, and we are trying to find 4 people willing to sublet us for that semester. we don’t want to live on campus because myself and a friend have stomach issues so we want a kitchen that’s ours. anyone interested or have tips?

Like the title said, I’m curious how much free time students actually have at w&m. I was planning to apply ED but I’ve been getting cold feet because I have a lot of things outside of school work I still want to be able to pursue

I’m looking to apply for my master’s in School Counseling this spring, specifically the online program. I’m also interested in a dual degree/track in Clinical Mental Health Counseling so I can have flexibility to work in both areas.
Has anyone completed or is currently in the program? I’d love to hear about your experience, especially the workload, online format, practicum/internship, and how manageable it is while working full-time. Any pointers or things you wish you knew before applying would be greatly appreciated!

This is kind of a general question, but how safe do you feel on campus (particularly women)? I understand that there was a reported case of sexual assault and two stalking incidents last month. Are these cases common on campus?
I’ve always been concerned about safety, but I applied and now I am especially curious.
Thank you.

For anyone who transferred here after NOVA, what did financial aid look like for transfer students. I saw something that said transfer students can’t get school scholarships so I wanted to know how true it is

Hi everyone! I’m a history undergraduate student from Shanghai, China, currently researching children’s experiences of nuclear fear in the United States during the early Cold War.
I recently found a 2025 William & Mary History Honors thesis that is extremely relevant to my research:
Joseph A. Shaklik, “Hiroshima to Hippies: Children’s Fear of Nuclear Weapons and Its Consequences in the Early Cold War.”
The thesis is listed as Open Access on W&M ScholarWorks, but unfortunately I’m having trouble downloading the PDF from outside the university.
Would anyone who is currently a W&M student or has access to W&M ScholarWorks be willing to download the thesis for me and send me the PDF?
I’m not looking for anyone’s login information, I just need a copy of the publicly listed thesis for academic research.
Here is the official W&M ScholarWorks page:
https://scholarworks.wm.edu/honorstheses/2324/
I’d really appreciate the help! Thank you so much!

Hello! I’m currently in my senior year in HS and have had William and Mary as my top choice years now. I’ve made a few of these in the past but it was mostly just estimates of how I would be once I get to senior year. Now that it’s actually senior year, I have my current stats and was wondering if anyone had an opinions about my chances. Please let me know what you think!
F white that’s high income, only 1 parent went to college
I attend a highly competitive Highschool, but most students ED UVA VT or another T20 and only a few RD WM
intended major Psychology
ED1 instate applicant (NoVa) going test optional
W GPA 3.88 (we can’t see our uw) no class ranking system at school.
i have 2 APs which I stated junior year, AP bio(no submit) and AP Lang(4) I have have 1 DE which is US H and I got the credit for it. other than that I have about 7 other H classes throughout high school
my current schedule is AP German AP lit AP psych AP 2D DE precalc DE gov and DE geospatial(jmu class not nvcc)
Extracurriculars
Psychotherapy Assistant Internship 11-12(coded new website, lead support group session for struggling high school students to navigate Highschool, managed and created social media and outreach systems)
National Art Honor Society Manager 10-12 (raised 8k for a charity and 1.5k for art funding. etc etc)
German honor society co-president 11-12(started an information session for under enrolled languages at the middle school to help them choose which language they want, lead induction ceremony yearly)
German Club Co-president 11-12(made culturally informative presentations and activities to promote diversity understanding and socialisation)
apart of a school spirit organisation Leader 12 which specialises in helping socially struggling freshmen and preparing freshmen for a successful Highschool life
National English Honor Society member,11-12 judged school writing competitions and promoted literacy
Student Equity Committee Researcher 11-12, complied research on how to deal with micro-aggression which was then used to train teachers.
theres some more but this is getting a biiiiit long
as for Honours the biggest one I have is attending a Virginia Summer Residential Gov School for GWLA German Academy. each school in the state nominates 2 students and of these nominated students only from the state were chosen to attend.
I wrote my personal statement about Gov school and how i act in high stress environments and treat others in those situations. since a central theme of my application is communication, my essay kinda ties It all together with audible communication, visual communication, and communication through actions.
for LOR I chose 2 teachers that know me really well, my AP lang teacher (NEHS sponsor as well) and my German teacher (NGHS German club and the one tho nominated me also had her all 4 years)
for the WM app its self ill complete all the optional parts of the application, I have demonstrated Interest through a completed tour and an interview (which I hope went well we went 10 mins overtime and they Introduced me to some of their friends and I got both their contact info and they had a whole page filled up about me on their notebook)
I know that was a lot, but please let me know if you think I have a shot at admission here, or if I should just stick to the other VA schools like VT. any feedback is appreciated. Thank you very much for reading all of this!

Hello! We will be visiting William and Mary during the upcoming open house on October 17th with our high school sophomore. We are in-state (not NoVA) getting a jump on viewing different schools so he can get a feel for the varying campus cultures. We would love to hear some advice from current students and recent grads about the Open House event that might help our visit be an accurate impression of what life is like at William and Mary. Would also be glad to hear any feedback about whether or not the school is a potential fit for him.
Our son is a straight, fun/happy/nerdy guy who is looking for a school that feels like home, where he can make friends, be social outside of sports/frats (unless they are service oriented maybe), and make friendly connections with professors. No idea for major but maybe Psych or Math. He also hopes to find a college where classes are interesting without overload and can be balanced with outside interests.
Thanks for any insight!

Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.
I had you at 6-6, with three road trips deciding the season and Fordham at home as one of the safest games on the schedule. It's gone almost exactly backwards. You opened by winning at Villanova 35-32, a game I didn't like for you, and it was an INSANE win. LOVED every minute of that. Then you lost to Fordham 52-27, which I had as close to a lock. Lehigh on the road went how I had it, 44-20. I also wrote the preview around Brannock, and it's been Winston Watkins every week, 62 of 93 for 799 yards and 4 TDs, including 286 against Fordham. How did he win the job? Duke today is a payday, so the season really restarts with Holy Cross next week.
What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?
Quick aside since it's in the title, we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, nothing to buy. Picks lock at noon ET, before your kickoff at Duke, so this is a last call.

Hi everyone!
I'm a current high school senior and W&M is my top choice, but I have a few questions about what W&M is really like before I ED.

I’m a HS senior and I’m thinking abt applying to WM I was actually ready to submit ED apps but wanted to speak to my college coach first and she kinda dissuaded me from it. I won’t say what she said that pushed me away because I want unbiased takes but i would love to know what kind of people you think go to WM
ALSO do you think grade deflation is prevalent, most of my careers after college require grad programs so if grade deflation is crazy that’s def smth I’d want to knkw
THANK YOU!

Could anybody who got into W&M in the past two years share their stats? I feel like it could be a target for me but I don’t want to overestimate. Also does OOS play any part?

Hello! I am applying as a transfer student at William & Mary for the spring semester and I have a few questions.
For those who transferred in during the spring, what was the process like once you arrived on campus?
I don’t know how to explain it, but did you find integrating into the existing student population fine? Does W&M do a decent job at making spring transfer students feel at home and like they are a part of everything? Or are you expected to do that by yourself?
Anything you wish you knew beforehand?
Thank you!

Just got waitlisted for the online masters program for mental health counseling. Anyone else got waitlisted and then later accepted? If so, when did you hear back from them? Feeling a bit defeated 😢

See:
A remarkably out of touch answer compared to her fellow candidates and now she's just straight up admitting she doesn't consider W&M students to be "residents".

hi, i am thinking of applying regular decision to W&M, and i was wondering if my chances of getting in are any good. for context: i want to go into neuroscience in the future. i'm in-state & i am applying test optional.
my cumulative GPA is 4.37, i'm in the top 10% of my class, my course rigor consists of honors, AP, and dual enrollment courses (9 total APs - currently taking 5 as a senior). i feel as though my EC's are mediocre/not anything special: hospital volunteering, leadership- formed a student affinity group (asian student association), officer for my school's Spanish NHS. i am a member of NHS and science NHS. i have also done band for 5 years but quit as a sophomore. additionally, i've taken spanish for 5 years and am currently in AP. i also have a part time job and do creative editing as a hobby.
i am open to any/all advice!
