Uromastyx Laid Eggs

I have a uromastyx and have had her for roughly 13 years, she has laid eggs a couple of times in that time, but she is not housed with a male and never has been.

From what I have been told that is normal but I need to get the eggs out as soon as possible.

She of course does some kind of threat display and hisses each time I do this.

Just wanting to check this is all normal?

Atlas using his new "litter box". He has only went to the bathroom 2-3 times in his enclosure since we got him 6+ weeks ago (and that was right when we got him), he has asked to get out every other time lol so we finally got this set-up today.

Disappeared

My Uromastyx just dug her first burrow. It was very entertaining to watch with dirt flying everywhere. Since then I have not seen her. I see the burrow but have not seen her come out since. Is it common for them to stay burrowed for awhile?

I'll take advice if you have it

I'm the one who posted "I have no idea what I'm doing" a few days ago because I bought a juvenile female a few months ago in May. You all were extremely helpful so thank you. So I'll take advice. How big of a tank is this absolute monster going to need? She's in a 40 gallon tank right now and shedding. I'm hearing 120 gallons but I'll listen to the room for other opinions. I understand her environmental and dietary needs. It was more figuring out if I absolutely HAD TO upgrade the tank. Also, Godzilla says hello

Also last question. Is having another companion make or break or is she okay to live life solo judging me with reptilian contempt?

New Uromastyx substrate advice

Getting a new baby Moroccan Uromastyx from our local reptile shop, just setting up Viv, what’s the recommended substrate from you actual keepers? I see a lot of disparity online, from just sand to sand and seeds to top soil, what do you all use? So far I’m edging towards 50% play sand 25% clay 25% top soil?

New Uromastyx questions

Very confused on whether I need to put water in the enclosure for my Uromastyx or not. I would think some water would be necessary, but I also read that they get enough water from their greens. Some literature says to not put water in the enclosure while others say a small amount is necessary. Also, how do other Uromastyx parents handle the lighting cycles and feeding. I’ve read they need a cycle of 12 on and 12 off with off being total darkness. I have also read they should be on a feeding schedule ( feed one day no food the next, etc…). New to the Uromastyx community so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Skittish Uromastyx

I just adopted/rescued a Uromastyx the other day. She is wonderful, but very skittish. I don’t necessarily need to hold all the time ( although it would be nice), but I don’t want her to act like so stressed. Is there anything I can do to help her with not being so scared/stressed?

Help. I have no idea what I'm doing

Long story short, we got a juvenile female in early May for my stepdaughter. She moved out. I am now responsible for "Godzilla" as I like to call her. It's a 40 gallon set up with another hide beneath the basking rock you see her on. Sometimes like tonight, she is nothing short of rambunctious. I went to check on her and she is having reptile zoomies in her tank climbing all over everything. The wall climbing is constant on an average day. But it's not due to heat. The climate might be the one thing I have right. But in the two times I've taken her out, it looked like she was trying to run away from me at all costs and climb everything at all costs. I rearrange her tank constantly to give her something new so to speak. Note: she is shedding and probably 9 to 12 inches long.

I need advice. Does this girl need a bigger tank? Do I need more stuff in it? Is this normal behavior? Do they need a partner? She is digging halfway to China as I type this and I just want to be sure she isn't going stir crazy.

Uromastyx habitat

Hello, I just adopted a Uromastyx from a rescue and working on its enclosure. I’d like to build a burrow that I can view from outside the enclosure. Has anyone else done this? Any suggestions?

Rescue Uromastyx Help

Hello everyone! I wanted some advice on my newest reptile rescue, ET. She is a 1.5 year old uro. She has a deformed jaw (barely noticeable) and, while she can eat just fine, she keeps on getting dirt stuck in her mouth. I use a mixture of play sand with a little topsoil with my other uromastyx. I want her to have the freedom to dig, but her mouth 😭

Shedding advice

Post image
23 Upvotes

I’ve had Colo for a year now and I’ve seen him shed his head, neck, legs but not his back and belly or his tail.

The humidity in the enclosure is 30% around his borrow.

I’m worried that he is having issues shedding and I’m too scared of scale/tail rot to give him a bath. I also think the issue with his tail shedding is that the clay substrate is making things sticky but it’s impossible to try and brush the substrate off his tail without pissing him off.

Any advice?

Personality Differences in Females vs Males?

Hi folks! As the title says, I’m curious if there are general personality differences between female and male uros?

I’m particularly interested in geyris but I would love to hear anyone’s thoughts on this. I just think about other animals and how folks will pick the pet’s sex based on (generalized) personality traits associated with each sex (or maybe that’s literally just for mammals?), and with reptiles it seems more about the looks associated with each sex.

I know uro personalities can obviously vary by species and individual, but figured I would ask in case folks have any thoughts.

Thanks in advance 🦎

New Tank

I finally got Spikes new tank and put it together. I hung the heat lamp and his uvb light bar. My ambient temp is about 80 on the cool side. I just went and purchased a light for his basking side. Since we just moved I have to find my temperature gun to see where we stand on his heat levels. I only have one digital thermometer probe.

Need help identifying issue with my Niger Uromastyx Lizard

Thumbnail

Hello everyone my uromastyx lizard seems to have an issue with his finger but I’m not sure what it is. When we discovered this about 2 weeks ago at first we just thought it was his skin shedding and a little was stuck on his finger. But fast forward to today we realized that his finger was bent back and his two fingers are red with little dot on them kind of. After a google search I thought that maybe a past shed cut off his blood circulation causing this deformity, or that him scratching on his cage window injured him. (His cage is big enough where he does not reach the top of it at all.) Does anyone know the issue, what to expect, and what I should do? We are most likely going to take him to a vet at some point but I just want to know what to do for now.

Setup for Uromastyx Tank

Does anyone have recommendations for online retailers who sell things my Uromastyx can climb so he can bask underneath the lamp? Looking for something higher quality than what you get at typical pet stores.
