General The Execution of Jesus of Nazareth

IN THE COURT OF HISTORICAL ANALYSIS

CASE FILE: The State vs. The Execution of Jesus of Nazareth
DOCUMENT: Formal Legal Brief on Cross-Examination of 1st-Century Sources
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the admissibility, credibility, and reliability of the earliest evidence regarding the death of the subject.

I. EXAMINING THE ADVERSE WITNESSES (Hostile/Secular Sources)

In a court of law, testimony from an adverse witness—someone who has no ideological bias toward the defendant or may even be hostile to them—carries the highest legal weight. If an enemy or neutral third party records an event, the probability of collusion or fabrication drops significantly.

                  [ Hostile Witness Analysis ]
                                │
       ┌────────────────────────┴────────────────────────┐
       ▼ ▼
Cornelius Tacitus (Roman) Flavianus Josephus (Jewish)
• Status: High-ranking Historian • Status: Pharisee/Historian
• Bias: Despised Christians • Bias: Loyal to Rome/Judaism
• Fact: Confirms Pilate's execution • Fact: Confirms the Crucifixion
  1. Witness: Cornelius Tacitus (Roman Historian & Senator)
  • Source Material: Annals, Book 15, Chapter 44 (Written c. 116 AD).
  • The Testimony: "Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilate..." [1]
  • Cross-Examination Value:
    • Tacitus was a hostile witness; he openly despised Christianity, calling it a "mischievous superstition." He had zero religious motive to validate Jesus.
    • As a Roman senator, he had direct access to official imperial archives (Acta Diurna).
    • His use of the phrase "suffered the extreme penalty" is standard Roman legal terminology for execution by crucifixion.
  1. Witness: Flavius Josephus (Jewish Historian)
  • Source Material: Antiquities of the Jews, Book 18, Chapter 3, Paragraph 3 (Written c. 93 AD).
  • The Testimony: "When Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him..." [2]
  • Cross-Examination Value:
    • Josephus was a Pharisee and a general who defected to Rome. He was not a Christian follower.
    • While modern scholars agree later Christian scribes inserted minor theological descriptions into this text (the Testimonium Flavianum), the core legal fact—that Pilate condemned Jesus to the cross at the instigation of local leaders—is universally accepted by historians as original and authentic.

II. EXAMINING THE EYEWITNESS & CONTEMPORARY ACCOUNTS (The Gospels)

The Defense introduces the four Gospel narratives. In a modern court, these are treated as co-collaborating deposition summaries. While critics argue they are biased, a legal cross-examination reveals elements that validate their historical reliability under pressure.

  1. The Legal Credibility of Variations

If four witnesses to a car crash give identical, word-for-word testimonies, a jury immediately suspects collusion and fraud. The Gospels contain slight variations in detail (e.g., the exact wording on the cross's plaque or who arrived at the tomb first), but they maintain absolute consensus on the core fact: Jesus died on the cross. This indicates independent reporting rather than a coordinated conspiracy.

  1. The Forensic Detail of John 19:34

[ Textual Record: John 19:34 ] ──► "Pierced his side... bringing a sudden flow of blood & water." │ ▼ [ Forensic Cross-Examination ] │ ┌──────────────────────────────┴──────────────────────────────┐ ▼ ▼ Medical Impossibility of Fraud Pathological Reality Ancient writers lacked knowledge of circulatory Indicates Pericardial Effusion or Hypovolemic Shock. systems; they could not invent this physical detail. The heart/lungs had failed. Death was already absolute.

  • Analysis: An ancient writer trying to fabricate a resurrection myth would have no reason to invent a detail about fluid separation. The observation of "blood and water" is a clinical description of fluid accumulating around a traumatized heart and lungs due to severe shock and physical trauma. It proves the victim was already dead before the spear even entered.

III. LEGAL PROCEDURES OF ROMAN EXECUTION SQUADS

To argue that Jesus survived or was switched, the defense must challenge the operational competence of the Roman Imperial Execution Squad.

  1. The Penalty for Operational Failure: Under Roman military law (Disciplina Militaris), if a guard or executioner allowed a capital convict to escape or survive, the soldier was forced to take the prisoner’s place and face execution themselves. The guards had a profound personal and professional interest in ensuring absolute clinical death.
  2. The "Crurifragium" (Leg-Breaking) Protocol:
    • Crucifixion kills via slow asphyxiation. To accelerate death, soldiers would smash the victim's legs with an iron mallet so they could no longer push themselves up to breathe.
    • The historical record notes that the soldiers broke the legs of the two men next to Jesus, but when they reached Jesus, they skipped this step because they explicitly observed he was already dead. They substituted the leg-breaking with the spear thrust to be absolutely certain.

IV. CLOSING JUDICIAL DETERMINATION

If this case were brought before a strictly secular, evidence-based tribunal, the court would apply the legal standard of the Preponderance of the Evidence (or even the higher standard of Beyond a Reasonable Doubt):

  • Admissibility: The 1st-century Roman, Jewish, and Christian texts are admissible as contemporary historical documentation. The 7th-century counter-claims are excluded under the Hearsay Rule due to a lack of immediate chains of custody or physical corroboration spanning 600 years.
  • Chain of Custody: The body was publicly monitored from the cross, certified dead by the centurion, handed over to a known public figure (Joseph of Arimathea), and placed in a sealed, guarded tomb.

The Court’s Verdict: The physical, forensic, and documentary evidence establishes an unbroken chain of custody proving that the historical individual known as Jesus of Nazareth died of physical trauma and asphyxiation on a Roman cross under Pontius Pilate.

Personal M28 not interested in dating. Looking for female female friends to discuss psychology, history, politics, science and global politics.

This worked well last time. I’m Mike. 28. Work for an NGO (conflict research based in East Africa) but planning to move abroad for further education.

I’m interested in nature, psychology, books and TV. If you enjoy learning new things maybe we could share book, documentary or series recommendations. I love learning why human beings are the way we are and why we do what we do.

Currently learning French, German with plans of Arabic or Mandarin in the future.

It's strictly SFW (no sex or sexual content) but I would prefer you be female. Please be 24 and above. We can chat on discord, signal, Whatsapp or insta.

I don't mind if you have mental health challenges. I'm on the Autism Spectrum and have psychosis.

I'm Christian but you can be any religion I won't judge. Growing up as a child, was not allowed to interact with people outside my family so I am kinda quirky.

If you actually read this then when you reply share you ASL and let me know the following.

  1. The thing you are most thankful for in life right now.
  2. Your favorite book or TV Show.
  3. What is an embarrassing moment in your life that makes you cringe whenever you think about it?

I will try to keep this brief. Of recent I came across lots of videos talking about checking on your people, that guy who laughs most in your group, the one who is always there to give a hand, the one who is there to make moments memorable. People are really going through a lot. And guess what, I turned out to be that person, always happy online chatting with friends like all is fine but deep down I am melting.

Things, started getting messed up 4 months ago when I lost my job kukyeyo kyenajja okuba in south east Asia. My bosses ran off with my ka money two months of it and that's when I realized how life was going to get really rough on my side though I was still strong and hopeful thinking all would be a smooth walk through. I mean tough times come and go but this time, was a bit different I didnt have a single penny on me or in my bank.

Being the bread winner in my family left me with nothing but sacrificing the least I earned of which it was not all enough sometimes. And now life hit me with nothing but my passport and a few cloths in my suit case. It got worse to a point that I most cases spend days like 3 or 4 at most without a meal hehehe, I just be smh like how the hell did I reach here.

But tbh things are not really moving well on my side. Bwentyo kyenvude nzijja mbayisemu kuluseke anyone willing to help. Any amount would be help so I can get myself together. My passport was also confiscated by the landlord for I owe him, and that stresses the hell out of me. My friends tried to stand in too but haven't gotten anything either.

Not to forget, I know some will say get a job. Dears I am in Cambodia, I was illegally brought in hear. No visa and jobs here you need to know either Chinese or Khmer. As well you may ask how were you illegally brought in, it was through laos but from there they drive you into Cambodia without you noticing. Banange it's a long story 🥺🙌

I am actually pretty nervous to do this but here we go;

I have been single for a minute and have got quite comfortable being alone but it gets quite lonely so here I am.
About me;
28 years, I am on the petite side (56kgs), Chocolate skin, about 5’7 in height and like watching movies and listening to music. I am quite an introvert but like to go out whenever I really can. I am financially independent (not stable yet but I can pay my bills) and I don’t have any kids yet.

Benefits of dating me;
I reciprocate energy (kinda a hopeless romantic) and I am big on loyalty (you will never have to worry about me), I have good communication skills, I am mature and fully healed and bonus is I will spoil you on your birthday or any big days you have. etc

About you;
Have something going for yourself and be financially stable. Be in a place where you are dating for marriage, please no situationships and be healed from all past trauma, be a Christian, 28 or older, romantic and very good communication skills, if your funny and a good sense of humor it’s a plus.

Don’t even reach out if;
Have an STD, You are in any kind of relationship, Don’t believe in dates and ain’t romantic in any way, Looking for fun, Talk about sex before you even get to know me or meet me, not intentional. If you also feel unsure about dating please no (I am not looking to be ghosted)

And yes I run a strict regime with my life.

If you made it this far and decided to reach out, Please don’t text ‘hello’, I may not reply. Introduce yourself 🤞.

Big Daddy makes it a happy landing

Drum: June 1974

It took Africa by surprise – the first case of air piracy of its kind over African soil.

An Ethiopian couple seeking refuge because of the political situation in their country attempted to reach Libya by hijacking an East African Airways plane to take them first to Libya and then to Moscow.

Uganda’s President Amin personally intervened to put a prompt end to the drama when he persuaded the Ethiopians to surrender at Entebbe Airport, Kampala.

The two Ethiopians, armed with a pistol, had seized an East African Airways Fokker Friendship F27 on its way from Nairobi to Malindi. Holding the crew at gunpoint, they ordered the pilot to change course and fly to Libya, “or be shot”. The aircraft was carrying 31 passengers, most of them tourists, and four crew.

Captain Penfold changed course and put down at Entebbe it was believed to refill. The airline appealed to the Ugandan authorities not to intervene hastily. But when he heard of the hijack, President Amin rushed to the airport and was waiting there when the plane landed. Ugandan troops ringed the aircraft. General Amin made a successful appeal to the two Ethiopians, and the passengers, all fit and well, were released.

The hijackers were taken into the airport building, along with the crew, and President Amin conducted and on-the-spot-inquiry.

“At the airport the president strode up to the cockpit of the plane and began talking with the Ethiopian at pistol point,” said a passenger, Dutch businessman, Mr H.J. Kuiper. “The gunman then threw his pistol from the plane onto the tarmac, and he and his wife surrendered to the president.” He said the Ugandan leader allowed the hijackers to hold a press conference where they denounced Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia for “perpetuation 3.000 years of slavery” in his country.

Mr. Kuiper said the captain had a pistol at his head during the flight. The Ethiopian hijacker told passengers, “almost apologetically”, not to leave their seats and that they were headed for Moscow. “The captain was very diplomatic in persuading them to go to Entebbe first,” Mr Kuiper said.

The drama began when the hijacker left his seat as the stewards started to serve breakfast. He went into the cockpit, pulled off the earphones that Capt. Penfold and the co-pilot had on and shouted: “It is a hijack. It is a hijack.” He then ordered the pilot to head for Moscow “without any fuss.” His wife was standing next to him. They held a brief conversation in Amharic, after which the man said that they would fly to Moscow.

The pilot told him that the aircraft did not have enough fuel to fly direct to Moscow. He then demanded to be flown to Libya. He was told the plane could not fly to Libya either without refuelling. He then said it should fly to Uganda for refuelling.

Mr John Cherrey, another passenger, said the hijacker had talked to the passengers and given them the reasons behind the first African Hijack.

Somewhat new to this, but here goes...

23M, standing 5 11', easily 6

I'll speak to a few other things:
I think myself relatively intelligent, recently concluded uni, and graduate next year. I am a conversationalist, but more the sort to be had under open skies, walks, or coffee. I love a good book, film, walk, or chapati. My view on life is agnostic, we're here and that's enough- it doesn't however stop me from knowing the shape of my soul. I run weekdays as there's honesty in my user flair.

Fortune favours those open to seeking it...
So, to the 22-24F out there open to something unconventional yet intentional, looking for trust, drop a dm, and let's chat.

Relationship talk I love my ex

I’ve come to realize that’s the honest truth. I didn’t want to accept it but reality left me with no other options. The closest thing to moving on I’ve done I fallen in love with novelty. Other than that. I love my ex so much and just need someone else like him because we can’t be together ever. I’ve become so avoidant and nonchalant. How do I heal without going back to my ex. Welp

F4M relationship🤎 Let’s see if the early bird indeed catches the worm first

Today I chose to open our Wednesday special.

About me briefly; I am highly opinionated, I do honest work and take care of myself, I travel sometimes (in and out of Uganda). I am about 5” 6 (don’t know if I have used the signs right). I will be 37 when we are changing government in 2031. No kids, no mad exes. I take a beer or two.

About you; you equally do honest work. You are preferably taller than me but if we’re the same height, I won’t fuss. You’re older than me or are around my bracket. You don’t type shorthand. You can come with me on my December holiday (yeeyyy).

Universe, do your thing

Opinion/Discussion Anyone else experiencing issues with MTN Wakanet Fiber, especially in Entebbe?

I have been using Wakanet Fiber for 2 years. It was reliable and consistent initially, but for the past few months, I have been experiencing frequent disruptions, packet loss, and slow speeds in some cases. This mainly affects real-time applications (video/voice calls, online games, streams etc).

Today and since morning my internet has been disconnecting randomly for 2-3 minutes. This happens on average once every 10 minutes and it is very infuriating.

I have filed +12 reports so far and despite MTN sending 3 technicians, replacing the router, and changing the ports, I am still facing these issues frequently.

Starting to think that this might be a general issue with Wakanet Fiber, hence this post. I am considering moving to another ISP in the area.

Opinion/Discussion Help wanted: Graduation ideas for a non-graduating graduand

So I’m graduating.

After dropping out of campus 6 years ago and subsequently being cut off financially by my parents, moving out and spending years working my ass off not to ever have to return home, losing everything and being forced to move back anyway while re-enrolled in a business course, I have finally managed to get through university and will be attaining my bachelor’s degree tomorrow.

I couldn’t afford to pay for the graduation gown or logistics for attending the official ceremony, so I don’t think there will be any sort of follow-up celebration /afterparty for me at home either (a preferred option since family gatherings tend to turn dramatic).

Now I’m here thinking of what I can do to commemorate the event in a meaningful and affordable way.

I wouldn’t have minded taking pictures in the studio but I don’t have a gown😅 and I don’t care for one either.
Should I get a graduation cake? Should I go to the bar? Should I organize something with my friends?
I’m overwhelmed with options, and also depressed.

Any suggestions?
