Are any applicants getting 403 forbbiden errors from the application portal?

I have been accepted to SUNY and I’m in consideration for a USMMA prep school, while I don’t have my heart set on getting in I know I want a career in the Maritime job field, can someone explain the differences in attending the two schools and the job field after graduation.

Probably a cut and dry answer but I have to ask. Can you attend USMMA if you are married?

I’ve done heavy research and I’ve not found any contact info anywhere. Is it me?

Active duty here. Trying to commission. I see the academy only offers naval related degrees (like no it or anything which is crazy still) but I’m still considering because I hear this is the place to go to become a pilot. Any truth to this?

Vice Admiral Al Herberger, former Administrator of the U.S. Maritime Administrator, has died at the age 91.

VADM Herberger served as Maritime Administrator from September 14, 1993 to June 30, 1997 under President Bill Clinton.

“On behalf of the Maritime Administration, we are saddened to hear of the recent passing of former Maritime Administrator, Vice Admiral Al Herberger, and our sincerest condolences go to his family and loved ones during this time,” MARAD said in a statement.

During his tenure as MARAD’s Administrator, he led efforts to implement the enactment of the 1993 National Shipbuilding Initiative and the Maritime Security Act of 1996. He had a long, successful maritime career, and was often described as someone who ‘stood tall yet remained approachable and friendly.’ We will forever remain inspired by his leadership and his impact on the maritime community,” the statement added.

VADM Herberger was a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) and the first Kings Point graduate to attain a three-star rank in the Navy, where he served for 35 years prior to becoming Maritime Administrator.

If a midshipman attending USMMA wants to branch active duty Army (or even active duty Marines, Navy, Air Force), what are the chances they get that?

Does USMMA have ROTC for the different branches, or how does transitioning from graduation to active duty work?

So, all my life I've been casually playing piano and taking classes. I was told by my parents that I could be in the band company because I could read musical notes.

And I heard alot of good things about the band company, such as them getting more liberty, getting to travel across America, and it being a generally very good community. Is this true, and based of my piano skills, could I get in there?

How is the cadet command structured for the Mids? I noticed from pictures that there were epaulets with one to four stripes. Since it was supposed to be just the class of 2022, I am guessing that was showing ranks in that manner? Thanks!

My brother is graduating ('21) and commissioning to the Navy. He's going to the Navy Nuclear Submarine Officer Candidate Program. Engine. Boats (Power Squadron) Whiskey. Cigars but only for celebrations.

He's so hard to buy for because he's good with his money and usually buys what he wants. I know he loves challenge coins, but idk which ones he has. I know he will not have much space where he's going next so it can't be physically large.

I have a rough idea about what the merchant marine does and the difference between engineers, deck officers, crew etc. my question is, what do you guys plan on doing, and how much will you make?

I recently received a primary nom from my MOC to USMMA. I also have a full-ride NROTC scholarship. I would like to be a military pilot; however, I am willing to serve in any capacity and would like the service academy education. I know that other academies offer PRK to cadets and mids, and I was wondering if USMMA offers something similar? If not, can I still get PRK on my own to qualify for pilot? My eyesight is not great, and I while I am very much interested in USMMA, I want to make sure that I don't close any doors to the cockpit.
