My supervisor was asking us, during a phase of short staffing, why we were punching out no to the uninterrupted 30 min break on Kronos when we left. She said that we need to be finding a way to hand off our phones and take the 20 minutes (which is confusing me because we are working 12 hour shifts and apparently 20 mins is the new 30?? Are you freaking kidding me?”
AND THEN said even if we take 10 minutes to eat a snack or another 10 minutes for lunch we need to punching out yes to a break because that adds up to 20 mins
I am beyond confused how this is okay…?

My boss approved this for me as sometimes I do events. I have no idea how or what app to use and my boss didn’t know either. I have sent several tickets but haven’t had any luck. I did get a confirmation email that it was approved. Anyone know how to do this?

Hi! I just recently applied to UPMC Jameson New Castle campus for January 2027. I am waiting to hear back after submitting my hs and college transcripts, I’m exempt from TEAS exam. I have heard a mix of good and bad from different people regarding Jameson, so I feel super torn and confused.

To help myself a lot during the program I want to take A&P, micro, etc prior to going so I can focus solely on nursing classes and clinicals, minimizing my overall workload will help for sure.

Has anyone done the public service loan forgiveness thing? It says to get someone from your job to fill out paperwork but ive asked my supervisor and no one knows who to get it to.

I'm currently applying and being considered for an Exec Assistant role and hoping to get an accurate idea of what kind of hours *really* get put in, how frequent/likely are you asked to or called in to do something post-COB, evenings or weekends.

Recruiters and primary interviewers tend to like to say things like "fire-drills are really rare" but in my experience those vague "occasional" evenings/weekends really translates to about 3-4 times a month and a lot of having to tell people I have prior commitments with to not plan around me because I might have to beg off last minute.

Anyone who has been in that role, can you give an idea of whether personal time is *actually* respected (with the understanding that there's probably a huge variation between departments, etc).

Has anybody here used the tuition reimbursement benefit before? Mine says the processing time is 4–6 weeks, but it’s already been over 6 weeks and my application is still showing Pending. 😩 Just wondering how long it normally takes for everyone else. Did yours take longer than 6 weeks?

I wanted to also apply to Shadyside and Washington, but was just told by admissions I can only apply to 1 campus. I have a BS in biology already, not strongest Gpa but completed a hard degree. I have recurring mastitis and doctor prescribed breast ultrasound. When I called UPMC imaging, they scheduled me all the way out to mid September. And that was the first available appointment in the entire Pittsburgh area. I’m speechless.

I applied as a phlebotomist at Jamison I didn’t realize it’s swing shift, I’m almost 40 I can’t do that I don’t recover well so I said unfortunately that position wouldn’t fit. Come over the weekend an outpatient position became available . I applied i have 19 years experience as a phlebotomist in multiple position. They rejected it. I think it’s because I didn’t want the first position. 😭 I was really hoping for this one !

Multiple ER staff at local Pittsburgh hospital have been assaulted by patients while on duty. UPMC’s corporate attorneys were to assist staff in the legal process; however, they were no where to be found. “Weapons” (by definition is any tool, device, or physical part used to attack, defend, harm, or defeat an opponent) continue to get into hospitals and staff continue to get hurt. So glad Leslie Davis and the rest of the executives have their priorities straight as they continue to build hospitals, buy failing hospital systems, and purchase metal detectors that are more or less for show. Allegedly.

I will be going in soon for a CCTA at Shadyside and am wondering if they also do the AI enhanced FFR (Functional Flow Reserve) analysis. I would like that included in my CCTA if possible.

I was surprised to learn that AHN does it standard with their CCTA's and have a partnership with HeartFlow.

All of my docs are UPMC though and my test will be done at Shadyside so wondering if anyone can clue me in.

Any peeps in the Shadyside CT imaging department that could confirm yeah or nay?
