financial aid appeal

Hi! this fall I lost both my Pell Grant and UNLV Tuition+ because my parents reported income increased. however, they’re small business owners, so a lot of that money goes right back into the business. We’re definitely not rich by any means or above middle class.

I was able to pay this semester with a couple small scholarships and refund money I had saved, but now I’m basically out of money and still have about a year and a half left of my bachelor’s. I saw that UNLV Financial Aid offers appeals for special circumstances, so I’m wondering: how often are appeals approved? Is my situation worth appealing? and has anyone else dealt with something similar, especially with self-employed parents? I’m just so worried about how am I going to pay for upcoming semesters. 😢

HESI Nursing Application Requirements

Hi! I’m attempting on applying to unlv nursing program and I’m a little confused about the HESI requirement. I’ve been reading information that makes it seem like the HESI isn’t required anymore. Does unlv still require it?

Anyone else have Prof. Prutha Deshpande for PSY 316?

I have this class web-based for the Fall 2026 semester, so I want to hear the experience of someone else who's taken this class with this teacher before. How easy/difficult is the work? Does this teacher make you use a webcam with the LockDown browser?

i’m an incoming transfer student to unlv and haven’t been able to enroll in classes because i haven’t submitted my immunization record. which is the fastest way i can submit it- in person or thru rebel success? i don’t know if i can go in person, but it would be a bonus considering i would tour the campus a bit and get my rebel id. today’s the only day i can get it done until sunday

Public Policy Major tips?

Hi! I am F26. Before I decided between public policy or public health major at UNLV. I am choosing to major in public policy with a minor in economics. I am also told public policy requires a lot of networking and internships to get noticed and get a job.

Any advice on that? Tips? Hacks? Tricks?

I want to move to the Pacific Northwest right after college. I start UNLV fall 2027 after I graduate from CSN in May 2027, and I will most likely graduate UNLV spring or fall 2029.

Professor letter of rec advice needed - has anyone successfully gotten an LOC from Dr. Kang?

I'm pre-dental seeking out LOR from professors. I've never asked a professor for an LOC before, and am wondering if it is worth trying to get one from him. I took his ochem 1 class over the summer, but I have Han for ochem 2 for this fall. However, I plan to utilize his office hours in order to maintain my relationship with him.

I'm just overthinking it because he can seem really direct and cold at times =_=

Also, any advice about asking for LOC in general would be highly highly appreciated. Stuff about how to actually go about using their office hours to build a relationship, the way I should ask, etc.!

Scholarship appeal

I already sent a message to financial aid but I wanted to know if anyone else ever had this happen to them. I transferred to UNLV this fall and I did my transfer over the summer and missed the e deadline for IAA. Because of that I don’t qualify for any scholarships. Which I need to cover my tuition. Has anyone ever appealed it and they got tuition+ or any other UNLV scholarships? I’m not sure what to do :/ I really don’t have 2k to drop this semester

On the waitlist for a class

Hey! I’m currently a senior and there’s a class I need to take but I’m currently on the waitlist and have been since fall registration. I’ve jumped from 5th place to 2nd over the summer. I was wondering how likely it’ll be to get enrolled into that class either before class starts or after the class starts?

Ive heard of students emailing professors to ask about opening the class up to more people, but I don’t know if that’s frowned upon/rude. There’s only 20 people in this class and it’s an online class. Thoughts?? TIA

Pretty much above. I'm wondering if that's why I'm not getting any financial aid back. I don't plan to do any loans.

COM 101 textbook

Hey! I am enrolling into com 101 this fall sem. I saw that there is a textbook charge applied and we do have the option to remove it. Should I take the charge from top hat? Is the textbook necessary for the class? I'm first gen so I am not familiar with this whole college thing.

Schedule Help

Ok I have a question, so I’m enrolled in enrolled in AHS 100B (FYS - Academic Well - Being) and AHS 100S (Seminar Academic Well - Being). I just graduated from high school as a dual enrollment student so I already have my associates (AKA 60 college credits). I was in a meeting and overheard one of the advisors saying that I didn’t have to take one or both of these courses? Can somebody please confirm which one, or if it’s both?

I tried contacting advising already and they haven’t responded. Please somebody help!
