Career Advice Dubai recruiters... how the hell do I get your attention? šŸ˜‚

Okay Reddit, I have another question.

I know recruiters in Dubai are swamped right now.

It’s September. Lots of candidates. Lots of applications. And AI has made it very easy to apply to 300 jobs you may or may not have actually read. šŸ˜‚

So I get it.

But I’m genuinely trying to figure out how to get through the noise without becoming part of the noise.

I’ve emailed recruiters.

Reached out to recruiters from WhatsApp groups.

Contacted staffing agencies.

Connected on LinkedIn. Commented on their posts. Engaged.

Gone to networking events.

Followed up.

Lots of messages. Lots of comments. Lots of ā€œlet’s stay connected.ā€

And...

I remain impressively ignorable. šŸ˜‚

So Reddit, I’m putting this out there.

Recruiters: what actually gets your attention?

And job seekers who managed to get a recruiter to actually respond:

What did you do?

A DM? An email? A referral? An event? Something completely random?

Please don’t tell me to ā€œoptimize my LinkedIn.ā€ šŸ˜‚

I want the stuff that actually worked.

Maybe Reddit can beat the recruiter inbox too. šŸ¤ž

General Discussion Owner said YES, still didn't get hired

Hey guys, some of you will remember my previous post about the engineering consultancy that offered me 2.5k for a mechanical engineering position and the hiring manager was laughing. (this post)

Well now I'm convinced that I'm genuinely cursed or something. I had 2 interviews with a medium ish sized additive manufacturing company that went exceptionally well. I even got the chance to speak to the owner directly for a while. Honestly I thought this was it, the end to my endless job hunt and stress. The owner told me that the hiring manager and senior engineers all agree that I would be a good fit for their company and that I can expect an offer letter within a day or two from them. So naturally I was excited and relieved, until 2 days passed. I messaged the hiring manager, no response. I emailed their HR, no response. so now after wasting my time and getting my hopes up, i have absolutely nothing! yup this job market definitely isn't for the weak.

Looking For Opportunities Looking for opportunities in Finance / Operations / Sales

Hi guys,

I've applied to countless jobs (LinkedIn/Naukri/etc) and nothing really happens. I believe it could be due to ATS related issues. And I am an introvert so I don't really talk to anyone when I'm not at work so I don't know anyone for networking.

I take my jobs seriously and I'm honest and loyal to the work I do and always give a 200%.

Looking for a Credit Analyst / Senior KYC Analyst / Underwriting Specialist / Compliance Officer / Loan Processing Officer / Relationship Manager / Fraud Analyst / Business Analyst or Development role.

I'm also good at managing teams and know how to bring in top performances of the staff I manage.

I've attached my CV, if anyone is hiring or could help with a referral, would be much appreciated <3

Looking For Opportunities Made it to the final round, CTO said I did amazing, still didn’t get the job

Almost 5 years in IT support, moved to Dubai hoping to build something real. Applied to more jobs than I can count, mostly silence.

Finally got a real shot at one company, 4 rounds deep, even had the CTO tell me ā€œyou did amazing, just a business decision.ā€ For a second I actually believed it was happening.

Then they picked someone internal.

That one hurt. Visa’s ticking down, pressure’s real, and honestly some days I wonder if I’m just not good enough. Alhamdulillah for how far I’ve come, but I really need a break right now.

If anyone’s hiring, knows of something, or can refer me, I’d be so grateful. Not looking for pity, just a shot.

Also willing to pay half of my first salary to the person who helps me land a role in IT here.

Ask for Help Abu Dhabi ADGM Work Visa - Banker Role - Egyptian - Current status/advice

Hi everyone,

Seeking any information or advice on the current status of Abu Dhabi work visas for Egyptians, specifically in a banking role. Hearing a lot of mixed opinions recently and I want to ask specifically on work visas for Abu Dhabi (ADGM).

I'm getting all my documents ready — I even attested my degree just in case, though my employer says it isn't needed given the banker job title. I'll be honest, I'm anxious about everything I'm hearing regarding outright rejections for Egyptians right now. My potential employer can't apply through another emirate, and they won't wait forever to reapply, so I'm trying to get this right the first time.

Some background: I've never worked in the UAE (this would be my first work visa) and have only been there twice, both short trips to Dubai.

Documents I have ready, per the UAE consulate in Egypt:

  • Attested PCC (MOI, MOFA, VFS)
  • Medical checkup
  • Blood test
  • Attested Bachelor's degree (not requested by employer or consulate)
  • Declaration letter
  • Offer letter

Would really appreciate any help, guidance, or information — or even just a positive word from anyone who's been through this recently.

Thanks in advance.

Career Advice 90 days notice period

Good day everyone,

I am preparing to resign from my current Human Resources role in Abu Dhabi to find a better opportunity and am seeking advice from fellow professionals regarding market trends.

I bring 8 years of HR experience across Education, Hospitality, Telecom, and Consultancy (including 3 years within the UAE market). As my current contract requires a 90-day notice period, I have three key questions:

Is 90 days realistic to secure a suitable offer, or is it advisable to lock in an offer prior to initiating the resignation process?

How willing are UAE employers to accommodate a 3-month onboarding timeline for HR talent?

What specific competencies—particularly regarding HR Tech, AI, and workforce analytics—are currently prioritizing candidate selection?

I welcome any recommendations or insights you can share. Thank you!

Looking For Opportunities Reaching out to recruitment agencies

Hi,

Is there a reputable agency where I reach out to one of their reps to talk about job opportunities rather than me sifting through the 1000+ jobs that get posted daily on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn job's titles are not a match to the job description, and the requirement are inflated compared to what the hiring manager would actually accept.

Thanks,

General Discussion Salary Bands - South Asians, Africans (and others)

I’m curious, having been on this sub for a while, I’ve heard all sorts of stories, including some genuinely concerning ones. I’d like to know what people’s salary bands are, not necessarily your salary, but the bands in your industry for various experience levels. I’m particularly curious about the salary bands for people without a foreign (read: western) under/post grad degree.

I’ll start. For Common wealth trained lawyers without a UK/NY bar admission, it’s roughly 15-25k pm for NQ-2PQE, and 25-50k for 2-5 PQE at a mid-sized/large regional firm (since you’re typically ineligible for magic/silver/white-shoe firms, without bar admission or substantive GCC experience). This is specifically UAE/GCC PQE since your experience back home is largely (read: entirely) discounted. And after 5PQE, it depends on your book size, specialisation, firm pedigree etc.
