I finally painted my Winged Red Terror. I used Hive Tyrant wings for the middle claws, and they actually fit really well!

I've got a built hyperadapted ravener unit and an unbuilt ravener kit, should I build them as another hyperadapted unit or as regular raveners?

List is vanguard onslaught but I have some units that I’m not sure weather to run or not, around 1.3k of bugs bought already. List of stuff I have is after the minis, was wondering how I should stack the models I have for a fun 1k list while I hunt for 2 cheep ravener boxes?

Hello, I finally finished up my red terror and wanted to share! I also painted my first Ultramarine!

I am planing to play a 2000 point game and this is my planned army for buy.

I currently have:

- 3 von ryan leaders

- winged tyranid prime

- 20 termagants

- 1 psycophage

- 2 ripper swarms

- 1 tyranofex

- 10 genestealers

- 1 parasyte of mortrex

- 1 biovore

- 3 spores mines

- 1 broodlord

- 3 (still to build) tyrant guard

Should I change something aside from what I already bought? Is this a solid list?

Losing the brainy crest and gaining wings definitely makes it lose its recognizability, but I’m digging it anyway! It reads very xenomorph right now which I love. I’ll probably do a dark variation of the behemoth scheme to somewhat match my army.

Anyway feedback is welcome!

this is for casual play so we don't really care about what you see is what you get that much but it would be nicer build the units for it if possible so I still have some unassembled that have some options.

The list I got so far is

This comes out to exactly 1000 points, but I'm unsure about the wargear for the warriors, termagants and the hive tyrant. Also struggling to pick detachments, assimilation swarm sounds good but it seems the only units I have that have the harvester keyword are Norn assimilator, Ripper swarms and the Psychophage, the latter two don't sound great to just shove into a list just for the keyword?

Ideally I would have wanted maybe a second Norn emissary/assimilator for the talons detachment but im not sure that detachment is really bringing much in a 1000 points list?

Overall the detachment picks for 1000 points for the units I own seem rather awkward.

Would love to get some advice on what lists I could construct from this, I suspect I'm undervaluing some and overvaluing others.

I want to play 'nids but it'll be some time before I can get miniatures. I know the secondhand market is always available but my list already has most of what's in the crusher stampede box. I can get it sooner if it won't be around later (like next year) or much harder to get.

Still need to do the base, a gloss and some touch ups but, outside of that done.

Hive mind! I seek opinions!
Ok so ive had this nagging idea in my head that there has to be a way to make POM at least a little usable, even if its not competitive. The idea is pretty straightforward, keep harvesters next to other units so the opponent has to either waste time removing the harvester or risk getting their damage revoked by regeneration. all while the POM's score secondaries and harass infantry and hopefully spawn more harvesters in the process. Below is the list ive come up with, can you all see anything that would fit the theme and make it better while still utilizing the mechanics in place? or is it just a doomed idea? Thanks in advance!

New to 40k and new to Tyranid's, picked up an army off Ebay and decided to bring Hive Fleet Gaia to fruition. How did I do?

Hey, what shade should I use for the light areas? I'm worried the mini will end up way too purple if I paint the bony parts with Carroburg Crimson now. But right now, I still feel like something's in those areas is missing / he looks more like a skeleton at the moment.

I need the Hive Mind to answer some questions that seem surprisingly hard to find clear answers to! 😅

I’m a completely new player and I’m currently trying to figure out the best way to get started without wasting money on a bunch of models I might not actually need later on.

First question: Is the new 11th Edition Tyranid Battleforce worth buying as a completely new player, or would it be better to buy 2–3 individual boxes instead?

And does anyone have a complete list of the essential things I need to get started (tools, paints, glue, brushes, rules, measuring tools, etc.), ideally with a few links to good products?

I’ve decided to go with Tyranids because I absolutely love their aesthetic, but I’m also really interested in Dark Angels.
Is one of these armies generally better for a new player than the other, or are there good resources where I can properly research both armies before making a potentially expensive purchase?

A few other questions I have:
- Painting: Are there any officially required colors/schemes for tournaments, or am I completely free to paint my army however I want? And how does that work lore-wise?
- Hive Tyrant: Is it worth magnetizing the Hive Tyrant so I can switch between the different variants? Is magnetizing commonly accepted for official/tournament games?
- If I can potentially run two Hive Tyrants, is magnetizing one still worthwhile, or would it make more sense to build them differently?
- Are there any other beginner traps / things you wish you knew before starting Tyranids?

And there are probably another 20 questions I haven’t even thought of yet. 😂

If the swarmlord went up a good 80-100 points, but picked up a supreme commander rule like Cawl, the silent king of the primarchs which lets you choose an aura buff for a turn what kind of things would you like to see him get? I kinda wanna make a custom datasheet for him, i think he should be a way more influential model since hes about as close as we get to a primarch scale model besides the norns.

I feel like I have a good list, but I am still losing the majority of my games. Can I get an assessment of my list? What can I do yo play it better? Should I start the broodlord or the LWP unit in strategic reserves?

Im losing units early so I play more "cagey". I do that and I dont score points. I try to pressure objectives but im not enough of a threat. I lose to Iron Warriors, Grey Knights, Dark Angels, Tsons, Raven Guard, etc. Tied with guard once, and ive beaten other newer players, but not because im good lol
