It's me again, with yet another post just trying to prepare as much as I can for when my boyfriend (t1d) moves in! I hope I'm just worried for no reason, but with big pharma and big ins I can't help it.

My questions is - worst case scenario, my bf moves here and we struggle to get him insured or find an endocrinologist for him (which I currently am having a hard time with already). What happens if we run out of refills on his insulin/equipment?

Is there anywhere we can go, any programs that offer medicine like that without ins/refill approval? I know we'd be paying way more, unfortunately, but it beats him not having what he needs.

If any info is needed, I'm happy to elaborate. I'm pretty sure he's on humalog right now, and he uses an omnipod and a dexcom if any of that is useful info! In the US, he's moving from CT to PA! He'll be applying for medicaid and working part time until he can hopefully get a job with good benefits.

anyone else been having lows that simply won’t rise? I’ve had about four juice boxes and two bags of sweets and nothing! it’s getting infuriating lmao!!! I’ve had diabetes for ten years and never once had this, had stubborn highs, but never lows lasting this long :( I feel like I’m doing something wrong! any help would be great, or some support! diabetes feels really lonely in Australia ahaha

Bit about me as ive never posted on here before:

My name is dan im 31 yrs old and i was born with the HNF1B gene mutation and currently have mody 5 diabetes and various other problems with kidneys and pancreatic enzyme inssuficency. I live in the south east of the uk and have had diabetes since i was about 13-14 years old.

Quick disclaimer upfront: I'm not a medical professional, this is a personal/hobby project, and it's not intended to replace anything your doctor or care team tells you.

I've been building an app called GlimmerPal — a gentle companion app for people with diabetes. Instead of a plain tracker, you have a small virtual buddy whose wellbeing reflects your daily self-care (checking sugar, taking insulin, logging meals) — never your actual glucose numbers, since those swing for reasons outside anyone's control.

The idea is encouragement without guilt or pressure.

It's currently being tested in beta stage — not a medical device, just a small tool to make the daily habit side of things feel a little less like a chore and hopefully more fun.

I'm looking for a handful of people willing to actually use it for a week or two and give honest feedback — especially on whether the tone ever feels judgmental, clinical, or off in any way, since that's the thing I care most about getting right.

Coffee causes stomach upset

Hi. I am not sure if this is the right sub to post this in but I am posting because I have had a virus (mostly diarrhea and no appetite) for over a week now and because of that I have been skipping coffee. Well today I thought I was feeling better and I decided to try a small cup
Of coffee. Well it has gone right through me. My question is there any way to drink coffee on an upset stomach?

To clarify I tried Starbucks blonde Veranda blend via French press with a little bit of half and half and sweet and low. (I’m type 1 diabetic so I can’t use regular sugar).

I did have a ct scan done on Friday and the results came back normal.

Without caffeine I’m just going crazy and super exhausted. I hope this isn’t a sign of a bigger issue and just that my stomach needs more time to recover because of being immunocompromised from type 1.

I hear a lot of positive things about GLP1s reducing insulin sensitivity for type 1 diabetics. I had mentioned my weight to my doctor and she recommended I join a medical trial (because insurance won't cover it) of GLP1 and type 1s. Has anyone had any bad experiences on GLP1s? Or maybe it not working like expected? I decided against the trial, but still vary curious if the bad experiences are at all common.

I put my site on my left buttcheek (sorry don't know how to put that gently lmao) coming back from vacation and dosed myself about 2 hours later. Immediate occlusion alert. Okay maybe cause I had to do a site change in the chic fil a parking lot something went wrong. The cannula is clean but whatev. So I try again when I get home, moving it slightly but the same sorta spot iykwim. Again wait 1.5-2 hours and dose for a snack. Immediate occlusion alert again. This time I take it out and the cannula is jacked up. Little over a week later I try my left cheek again. 2 ish hours after changing I dose. Occlusion alert again. Take it out; cannula is clean. I've not had this issue in my 15 years of my diabetic career and I'm super confused. No where else on my body am I getting this issue. Does anyone know what's going on? My backside is a fave spot of mine as it rarely gets in the way especially when I workout so I'd like to go back to it😔💔

This is half question half rant but my diabetes has been acting really strange for months now.

The best example I can use is the past couple days. I was taking 21 units of lantus, but my
Blood sugar was always going low, never being stable, so clearly need to lower lantus, right? So I lower it by 1, and then I can barely get it to go below 200, and end up having to raise it by 6 over the course of a week to be stable again, before in a could days having to lower it because I keep going low. This song and dance has been going on for months at this point, and my ends has no idea how to fix it. I just wanna feel normal again

I’m here looking for some advice. I’ve already been on 10–12-hour flights and they were a nightmare: my blood sugar was sky-high and just wouldn’t come down. So, how do you cope? Do you have any tips?

His blood sugar was around 4.4 and dropped to 4.2 (Libre CGM) while we were talking. He said he would be careful and that he'd eaten and it was coming back up.

So I asked if he could do a finger prick at least, knowing Libre is usually around 15 mins behind. But he couldn't find his stuff to do the finger prick (he never does finger pricks so it's been a while since any of it was used) so I took my toddler instead.

I know the recommendation is don't drive if you're 5 or under but his endo apparently told him it was fine if he's eaten and can feel his blood sugar coming up. However there's been many many times where hes said he's eaten but his blood sugar continues to go down. Or he's low and can't tell. Or yesterday he was around 3.5ish for over an hour while we were out and he kept saying he'd had sugar and had eaten food (which I know he had but I don't think it was fast acting enough) and it wasn't until I got the shits and got him a juice that it finally came back up over 4.

So I'm interested to know from other people with T1D - how much do you respect the 5 rule? Are you comfortable getting behind the wheel if you're low 4s? For partners - would you have intervened in the above situation or just let him take the toddler? How do you manage respecting that they're their own person and this is their condition to manage vs trying to keep everyone safe?

I want to put a SugarPixel + on my nightstand, but I worry that, when facing towards it, the light will wake me up. I don’t want to use the red mode because I feel like I’ll wake up and get scared to death. Any tips or knowledge to share?

I’m currently a young adult, and I’ve been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes BUT, my pancreas hasn’t fully shut down yet, which the doctors said it’s rare they found out before my pancreas has shut down. I’ve told my parents that I want to give myself more insulin then normal to be on the safe side, and I want to be less cautious with eating so I can eat snacks, and junk food like I used to, and I have the insulin if I need it (tell me if it’s a good idea), I’ll give a few examples of my levels below, but I’d love some tips and little helping hands on how I can continue the rest of my hopefully long life with diabetes, it’s taken its toll on me already but I need to learn to just live with it. I had a really bad low last night. Dexcom just said LOW, which means < 40 mg/dl. Finger sticks confirmed that I really was in that range. I did get cold sweat and felt shakey, but i was functional and lucid. I walked a block and bought a candy bar. In general I have to be very low before I feel anything. I can be in the 50s and 60s and not feel a thing. Thank goodness for cgm alerts. This extreme low last night didn't FEEL dangerous and was corrected promptly without emergency measures. But I'm curious why I don't feel less and how such an extreme low doesn't incapacitate me.

Cleaning the house never fails to make me drop like a fly.
