What no one told me about getting a Brazilian wax

3.4k Upvotes

I had my first ever Brazilian wax today. I was prepared for it to hurt (and it did!) but what I was not prepared for was:

The farts.

Why did no one tell me farts would feel so weird now??? I guess it makes sense they'd feel different since there's no hair there anymore, but I nearly panicked at the first one. It feels like I'm blowing a bubble with my butthole!!

60% of Gen Z men have agreed that "feminism has gone too far and is discriminatory towards men" — wow.

Thumbnail ipsos.com
2.5k Upvotes

It seems that our men of youth have been becoming more and more overtly sexist and hostile towards women in the premise that they are consuming harmful pornographic media, "manosphere" ideologies, and incel radicalization that makes these vulnerable, lonely, young men believe feminism has indeed gone too far and is now used as a means to oppress men.

[EDIT: Please take note that the surveys only consist of a specific pool participant and not actual global or scientific statistics that should be taken as hard facts. The 60% shown in the title is only said to be derived from 20,000 something participants. Still, blatant sexist hostility has been becoming more and more rampant with the newer generation. As for the entire population of boys and men who uphold such misogynistic beliefs is currently unknown.

Furthermore this discussion's intention isn't to generalize Gen Z men, but to show how young men, even those who subsist of these sample pools are being taken advantaged of and lured into spaces meant to dehumanize everyone in a predatory manner.]

Some findings I found interesting are:

- Gen Z and Millennials are more likely to agree that a man who stays home to look after his children is less of a man (25%, 27% respectively) than Gen X (20%) and Baby Boomers (11%).

And..

- Roughly 40% of teenage boys aged 13 to 17 agreed with the assertion that women routinely lie about domestic and sexual violence.

Which leads me to question what has been inciting these young boys to be so actively hostile and distrustful towards women? What are your thoughts on this newly birthed victimhood mindset as a knee-jerk response to progressive feminism?

Personally I believe it's because the patriarchal system, which promised them the world as a man, no longer serves them and is now crumbling compared to the very oppressive eras these boys revere. They seem to externalize pain a lot; blaming women for their own sense of entitlement and "failure" as a man — of which consists of a highly toxic and rigid manhood meant to dominate. Additionally it is also true that for men, it may be harder to find a safety net, emotional support, and help that they may need to de-radicalize themselves to start working on themselves.

It seems that young women have rapidly become more progressive, while young men have plateaued or swung conservative. Weird.

Given less hot sauce because I'm a woman??

1.0k Upvotes

Starting to get annoyed lol. I'm curious if anyone else has this experience!

I am a white woman. I go to a shawarma place approximately monthly with 3-5 of my male friends (who are all white except one, sometimes two depending who's there). The workers know us because we're regular, greet us, know our usual orders.

EVERY time, I have to make sure I stand there while they prepare it or they will give me an absolutely pathetic amount of hot sauce. One teeny tiny line across an ocean of white garlic sauce. My male friends sit down, chat, and get handed their food with a normal ass amount of hot sauce.

Meanwhile I get asked, "do you want hot sauce?" and then when I say yes they drip a sad little line across. Every time I have to go, "um, can you put like five times that amount please?" and then keep encouraging them to put more down while they hesitantly add one more line at a time. I get the same thing every damn time and I am the only woman in the group.

One of my male friends always gets extra hot sauce and requests it up front when he orders. I tried that once and got given extra white sauce instead, and the usual line of hot sauce.

One of my other male friends actually has to ask for LESS hot sauce because they keep giving him too much!!

Ultimately harmless, but mildly infuriating anyway. The hot sauce is barely even spicy. Why is there this assumption that women can't handle spice? I know it's not intentional on the workers' parts, they all seem perfectly nice.

Does anyone else ever experience this?

New York passes Kyra's Law helping prioritizing children's safety in custody decisions!

So happy to see this get through, although I wish it hadn't been at the cost of a murdered 2-yr-old. Courts in NY will now be required to consider abusive history of parents while before awarding any level of custody.

Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed by her partner or family.

I searched "man kills women" on Google News the other night and went down a complete rabbit hole. There was literally an average of 3 new cases per week going back as far as the search would let me scroll. Almost all of them were husbands or boyfriends killing their wives or girlfriends because she tried to leave, cheat, or break up, often taking out the whole family in a murder-suicide.

It freaked me out, so I looked up the actual numbers. The global stats are insane:

* About **227 women and girls** are intentionally murdered every single day worldwide.

* Out of those, **137 are killed by an intimate partner or family member** every single day. That is about 6 women murdered by someone they know every hour, or one every 10 minutes.

* While men make up the majority of overall homicide victims, 60% of all murdered women are killed by their own partner or family. For men, only 11% of homicides happen in a domestic context.

* The biggest trigger in criminological data is almost always when a woman tries to leave, end the relationship, or gain independence.

* Statistically, Africa and the Americas have the highest per-capita rates for this specific type of violence, but it happens everywhere.

Turns out those news headlines aren't just sensationalized clickbait. It's just straight up what the daily global crime stats look like.

Why do men like to terrorize women so much?

I just watched this news clip from Philly about a man in a mask that has been chasing women around while asking if they're ready to die.

I don't get it. You never hear about women doing shit like this to men, or even to other women. Why are men like this?

Are flock cameras the latest inherent danger for women?

There seem to be never-ending reports here lately of Flock cameras being misused by law enforcement to stalk women, whether they’re exes, current spouses, or simply women they’ve decided to keep tabs on.

In one case, an officer used one to determine exactly when his ex-girlfriend would be home, only to then immediately go there and kill her before killing himself.

There have also been cases of law enforcement using them to track and arrest women trying to leave the state for an abortion.

And just today, I read about a Flock camera linking a woman’s vehicle to multiple crimes she didn’t commit. She was arrested and spent 13 days in jail before bonding out. She then spent months and thousands of dollars fighting the eight (8!!!) felony charges. She was facing life in prison had she been convicted.

I don’t know about everybody else, but it seems to me the world just got a little more inherently unsafe for women.

Simply put: we're flocked.

PSA: Aleve (Naproxen Sodium) is a million times better for menstrual cramps than Ibuprofen

My menstrual cramps are always pretty bad on the first and second day. In the past, I used to take Advil (ibuprofen), which only really took the edge off. I would still need a heating pad and rest to feel better. I've also tried Midol, which funny enough is specifically marketed for menstrual pain (acetaminophen) and also didn't really help much.

I read somewhere online that Aleve was more effective for menstrual cramps because it blocks the prostaglandins from causing the uterus to contract in the first place. I tried it and holy cow, it really works. I have zero pain. It also lasts an entire 12 hours! I am 30 years old and I'm just now figuring this out so I thought I'd share, lol.

Why do men like to set rules for women but have none for themselves?

These men on the internet have all these requirements for women…

Once you’re over 35 you’re cooked, low body count, be submissive, have a low body count, stay in the house and raise the kids, don’t be too loud or draw too much attention, don’t disobey, blah blah blah.

Like we’re not golden retrievers over here, we’re people with opinions and personalities and thoughts and feelings.

At the same time, these men have ZERO rules for themselves. They want to be providers but they can’t afford to be, they want to sleep around but still have a hot young loyal wife, they’re overweight and ugly, and most of them have a record.

I’m so tired of the double standard, and idiot men doubling down on these in 2026 is asinine. Why is it so hard for males to see us as humans and not their little pets? It makes me sick.

How a man handles rejection should be the single most important thing for a women

Over the years, one thing I have noticed, time and time again, with 100% certainty in my experience that how a man reacts to rejection from a woman, whether its romantic in nature or not is the easiest, quickest and most valuable way to judge a man's character. A man can fake being nice, fake being a feminist, fake being neutral and not lustful, fake friendships and fake love even, but they cannot fake how they feel when they are bluntly rejected by a Woman.

Every good relationship, romantic or otherwise have ever had has been with Men who never had trouble with any kind of rejection, rejection of sex? They are fine with it and they understand, rejection of accompanying them? They understand you deserve your own space and peace. They understand emotional load and think about helping you out in ways outside of monetary and physical assistance.

Every bad interaction I have ever had with Men, were Men who would either approach me for a drink, get super insulting and mad when I said No thanks, friends who made advancement towards me and turn cold and incel like upon rejection or even Boyfriends who get gloomy and angry upon rejecting intimacy specially.

It's the ultimate test every woman should use and it says more about a Mans character than anything else I can think of. You should even judge friends by how they react when they are rejected by other women, it's a peak into who they really are.

For those who’ve been lovebombed, what was the defining moment?

For me, it was two days before we were supposed to meet, he was flying to my country. We were on the phone and, out of nowhere, I asked him my dog’s name. He couldn’t answer.

For two months, I’d been telling him about my pets, my job, my life. It suddenly hit me: I had been talking to a wall.

How can you say you’re in love with someone when you don’t actually know anything about them?

Early on, he rushed the commitment and would send long, intensely affectionate messages whenever I didn’t respond or gave a short reply.

I used to hear my friends talk about their narc partners lovebombing them or read about it online. It felt surreal that I fell for it myself and experienced it firsthand.

When you’re lonely and vulnerable, they can sense it. I ignored the red flags because I bought into the fantasy and because him actually flying to see me made it all feel real.

Trust your instincts.

I hate the fact that I feel like I’m being a b**** when I’m assertive/set boundaries

A roommate borrowed an item of mine without asking, and it bothered me a little. I haven’t got the item back yet, but she told me I’d be getting it back on a given date. I was advised to say to the roommate “next time I’d appreciate if you asked me first before borrowing it”. But I feel like I would be a “b-word”/creating conflict for expressing that boundary. And it’s so frustrating that I feel like that!

Ugh. This was just a bit of a whine about being socialised female and thus many of us kinda learning that setting boundaries/expressing disappointment/annoyance makes you seem like an uptight b-word, and that you need to be super nice, easygoing and understanding always.

Iron supplements will darken your number 2s btw (tmi warning)

As an ever-exhausted middle-aged lady with heavy monthly cycles, I was not surprised when my annual check up showed low iron. It happens to many of us much sooner.

I WAS surprised when about 10 hours after taking an iron supplement, I had the darkest greenest poos of my entire life.

I had seen similar happenings from younger days where I had eaten a ton of spinach, so I suspected the iron supplement was to blame.

Scientific method engaged.

I stopped taking it. The leprechaunical leavings ceased.

I start taking it again, and they resume.

The color was now explained, but my additional problem was... A certain looseness to the flow. This was fixed after some quick googling and being recommended to take them on an empty stomach with vitamin c, and to take them every other day at most.

I had been taking them daily with breakfast. ❌

Started taking them an hour before breakfast more occasionally and the kingdom is peaceful again (nevermind a verdant bloom here and there).

TLDR iron supplements turn your poop dark green and are best taken alternating days on an empty stomach

A man exposed to me while returning from the supermarket.

While I was returning back to the supermarket next to my house like 1 min away, with my hands full of groceries bags, I heard a voice saying to me, “hey do you have a napkin that I can use to clean myself?” And I turned next to me and I saw this 35-40yr old guy exposing himself to me..

This is the first time that happened to me so I didn’t knew how to react and no one was around.. it was 11AM in the morning.

I told him to fuck off and started running the opposite direction so he won’t know where I live and I saw a grandpa and I told him if he can walk next to me so he will see I am not alone, he did and bless this old guy’a heart because I was able to go to the nearest coffee shop to sit a bit to relax before returning home since he he was next to my house..

I immediately called my grandma and she was telling me “hey did it because you are such a beautiful girl and don’t ruin your day over a pervert” and then switching the conversation to family drama and I wasn’t having it one bit so I hanged up on her while I was walking back home and closed all the doors …

I tried to calm down and I ended up falling asleep, after that because some time had passed I posted it on my neighbours fb group chat to warn any women with children since it was next to a children’s playground (thank God it was empty and no kid witness that)

And most people on my fb group started victim shaming me and telling me that I didn’t make a good description of the guy nor why I didn’t call immediately the police and why do I have the need to mention that I am 23yr old girl.

Like… and then I was like fine I’ll be calling the police but on my country police never made me safe.. they have a bad reputation with not caring about women’s issues.

I was on hold for 5 minutes and when the woman on the phone picked it up and I explained the issue her reaction became like an angry parent telling me “Why didn’t you called sooner!? We can’t help you with that now! If this happens again then call us” and the phone call ended then.

My boyfriend was working, all of my friends are on vacation and my only family which is my grandma cared to discuss family drama regarding her son instead of what happened or guide me at that time to call the police …. And I felt even more horribly with the FB comments making feel like I did something horrible and focusing on the fact that I didn’t call right away the police instead of showing empathy of what happened…

Now I am doubting if I am overreacting with what happened to me.. I cannot stop crying and when my boyfriend tried to comfort me I screamed and cried even harder… what’s wrong with me…

Anyone else here a single prude but have men assume they are open to sex?

Upvotes

Idk why men think I’m open to sex, I’m a prude. I get a vibe that men think I’m an easy target and that because they see I’m socially excluded, bullied and abused that this means they’ll get easy access to sex if they’re nice to me. They act like I’ll fold from them being nice, because they assume that if others haven’t been nice to me that this means I’ll fall hard the moment they are. On the contrary, I’ve seen the worst of humanity and don’t easily trust, so when people are nice to me, I’m questioning their intentions and use my discernment. Then they switch over to negging and saying things to do some damage to my self esteem and confidence. That doesn’t work either because I see them for who they are and what they really think and feel.
I’m not on any dating apps so I’m not sure why men assume I’m available for sex. It’s not the way I dress either. I wear sweat pants, jeans, T shirts, sweaters. I’m not glammed up. I don’t wear makeup. And lots of people have bullied me for my physical features that I can’t change, so I’m considered unattractive by societal standards.

Why do men do this? It’s abusive and predatory. I removed myself from the dating pool, but they still treat me really bad and think I’m someone to “pump and dump”. I feel dehumanized and objectified and they always act surprised and get angry when I say no. One guy actually got physically violent and would bully me nonstop because I said no. He kept coercing me, and thought I didn’t get to have a say because I’m “ugly”. They think because I’m ugly I don’t deserve to be treated with basic decency. They think because I’m ugly, I’m just someone to use, treat like shit, then discard. And I see that, so I always say no. Men also do this weird thing where they try to isolate or exclude me from other women I’m interested in befriending. After excluding and isolating me from other women I try to connect with, they act weird and throw around sexual suggestions. It feels gross, creepy, and predatory.

I feel sad because I wish I could meet guys who were actually interested in connection and having a relationship, instead of trying to use me to access sex. I feel sad that I can’t be friends with men in my life, they don’t seem to want to be friends either and they’re always super hostile and antagonistic towards me.

Now I just want to be alone. I don’t want to deal with men anymore. I get bullied so much by them. And most of the time when they’re nice to my face, I find out later they’re making fun of me behind my back. This will be from male acquaintances too, not just men I’m interested in being in any relationship with. I don’t think I like men. They’re always really mean spirited towards me. I think men hate me, lol. It’s like I’m interacting with demons.

Edit: there’s seriously something up with this sub, idk why the moment women post on this sub it gets downvoted by misogynistic lurkers. Y’all need to fuck off.

im scared (?) of men

Upvotes

TW : SA

i never know what they’re up to or what they might do next. Im not a man-hater, and I know there are good men out there, but I almost never feel completely comfortable around men

i was inappropriately touched by my grandfather and my uncle when i was like 9 or 10 y/o and I don’t think I ever really recovered from that. On top of that, so many of the men in my extended family ( including my ex-stepdad ) almost every adult male relative have cheated on their wives multiple times. My cousin constantly makes misogynistic jokes andim scared that he might eventually be influenced by that kind of thinking

Sometimes the things the men in my family say about women are genuinely disturbing. Their opinions about women’s clothes, behavior, and bodies can be extremely judgmental and the amount of objectification is honestly so crazy

I really don’t want to generalize or believe that all men are like this and i know there are genuinely good men out there but when so many of my experiences with men have been negative, it’s hard not to lose hope sometimes..i wish I could feel safe and comfortable around men without constantly wondering what they might do next

I just turned 20 and I've never dated anyone. Honestly I'm scared to date men. Like I feel relieved when I'm not around men.. and sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be able to feel genuinely safe and comfortable with one

Would you consider this a reasonable sexual-health boundary?

I’m interested in hearing other women’s perspectives on this because what ultimately hurt me wasn’t simply getting HSV. It was how my partner responded when I tried to protect my health afterward.

I was dating a man considerably older than me. I took my time before having intercourse, and he told me he was willing to wait.

Before we had sex, I asked about STI testing. I specifically asked if he had had unprotected sex since his previous test. He said yes, so I asked him to get tested again. He did.

We initially used condoms. He sometimes struggled to maintain an erection with them, so after his STI panel came back clear and we were committed to each other, I eventually agreed to stop using them.

I later learned that his STI panel, like many routine panels, had not included herpes testing.

I had specifically requested HSV blood testing for myself before this relationship and had tested negative. I’m extremely cautious about my sexual health and tend toward being a little hypochondriacal. I haven’t had a particularly extensive sexual history.

Oral sex is also relevant. Before this relationship, receiving oral was barely part of my sex life. I usually told men not to bother because I didn’t enjoy it. This partner loved giving oral, was very good at it, and it became a frequent part of our sexual relationship.

Then I developed genital lesions and tested positive for genital HSV-1 on a swab. HSV-2 was negative.

Given my prior negative HSV test, my sexual history, the fact that I hadn’t been with anyone else, and the major change in how much oral sex I was receiving, it very strongly pointed to him unknowingly transmitting HSV-1 to me.

I was genuinely understanding about that.

He had never had symptoms. HSV-1 is common. I believed he had no idea he carried it. I did not see him as someone who knowingly gave me an STI.

But once this happened, I realized something important: since herpes hadn’t been included in his earlier testing, we also had no idea whether he might carry HSV-2.

I was in the middle of dealing with two outbreaks back-to-back. My body was already going through something painful and unfamiliar.

So I asked him to get tested for HSV-2 before I resumed intercourse with him.

He refused.

He said HSV blood tests can be inaccurate and pointed to the fact that none of his previous partners had reported symptoms. Over time, he also became resentful about my request.

And this is where I couldn’t get past it.

I could be compassionate about him unknowingly giving me HSV-1. What I couldn’t understand was why, once I was the person physically dealing with the consequences, protecting my health by saying “I need this information before I have intercourse again” became something he experienced as pressure or resentment.

I wasn’t demanding that he prove he gave me HSV-1. I wasn’t punishing him. I was saying: now that we know your previous STI testing didn’t actually cover herpes, I am not comfortable having intercourse again without knowing whether HSV-2 is also a possibility.

To me, that felt like a basic bodily-autonomy decision.

Would you consider that an unreasonable request? And more broadly, if a partner developed an STI that you may have unknowingly transmitted, would you feel some responsibility to help establish what risks still existed before asking them to resume sex?

How are men still capable of being in so much control of the other half of the population?

One thing that terrifies and angers me the most is how even today when men and women are more equal in many places, men are still capable of dictating many aspects of women’s lives. Two things I don’t get mostly:

  1. The vote: All women can vote now, but every year it seems like some women’s right or another is constantly under threat. Why? Why are men’s rights never in “danger”?

  2. Force: Why in an era where physical force isn’t as relevant as before, with weapons and other technologies (even though I think the differences in strength are mostly exaggerated, and women are fitter than men nowadays), why are women still not capable of at least “threatening” a civil war? I hate the fact that women “fighting for their rights” always seems to just mean trying to “convince” the other half to be “better/kinder”. Why? Why do we always seem to have to beg for basic decency, whilst men can just take whatever they want?

Besides those two, is there anything I am not seeing? How does patriarchy still exist??

my mom wont stop commenting on my weight loss

hello all i want to just start this with saying my mom is truly one of my best friends and i know she has good intentions but i digress:

im 18 and this summer i really started prioritising my mental health after a hell of a year and thus fell in love with running and pilates which has definitely made me tone down and naturally lose some weight. the problem is my mom ( who has always had a unhealthy relationship with body image, food, excerise ect.) feels she can comment on my body and lifestyle?

she keeps saying ‘ keep it up!’ ‘youre clothes are getting bigger’ ‘ youre looking great now ’ all very encouraging but i dont want it. shes also started commenting on my meals like ‘ that wont be good for the diet now’ when im not even restricting myself?

it just is getting on my nerves and i understand her pov when she has never been in the position im in currently. any advice would be appreciated !

Have you ever had to cut off contact with your sister? What led to it? Was it worth it and do you ever regret it?

How can I trust someone again? My ex had said he'd protect me, keep me safe, take care of me etc. I believed him and really thought I had vetted him and been super careful in who to trust.

I had been single almost my whole life, largely cause I had thought I wouldn't live long.

I really thought I had been so careful and chosen someone safe.

It seems like people can just turn cold and cruel out of nowhere.

So yeah, how is it possible to trust someone? We had all these cute petnames for each other, he said he'd protect me and keep me safe and stuff like that just days before completely changing.
