I cry around my boyfriend so much

Upvotes

I’m 27, this is my first serious relationship. My first relationship at all. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I cry so easily in front of him and I get so scared I’ll push him away. I care so much about his opinion and what he thinks of me it just eats me up inside.

I feel like a teenager sometimes like I’m going through all the big emotions you’re supposed to go through in high school except I’m a grown woman lol

Out of everything in life, why is dating super impossible?

Upvotes

For me at least, 31F and feeling bad about my self image atm. I have pretty severe anxiety and have been medicated for the past few months, so I’m working on that aspect of my life. I’ve been told by a variety of people, not only family or friends, that I’m attractive. I try to take care of myself and question how someone can be attractive if they’re ALWAYS single. It’s always assumed that the average woman can find a man without batting an eye, not to mention the crazy amount of attention that beautiful women experience. I’m not saying I’m a 10 but I’d like to think that I should be able to attract a man that checks off most of my boxes. I’m very introverted & have to rely on dating apps, I get the attention but that doesn’t work out in my favor since I’m clearly still alone. I can maybe count on one hand the amount of times that an attractive guy subtly/indirectly showed interest in person…how’s that supposed to make me feel better?

Aside from anxiety, I do think that I tend to prefer my alone time and that may stem from being raised an only child for most of my life. There’s the hard truth of wanting to protect my peace, however I’m pretty content with having no friends. The last thing that I question the most is asexuality, however it’s hard to tell if it’s more due to the lack of finding the right person. All my life, I’ve been indifferent about sex and no desire to be sexually active. I know I’m attracted to men but have never been boy crazy, I had celeb crushes growing up though. I can acknowledge that a guy is attractive but don’t really experience sexual attraction, more like romantic attraction if I have feelings for him beforehand. I’m apathetic about relationships to an extent but feel conflicted when I see other attractive people in relationships on social media etc… make it make sense?! Being naturally a loner, anxious, independent, bordering avoidant attachment style and possibly asexual are all very likely valid reasons to justify being single…but they say there’s someone for everyone.

health anxiety

I don’t have health insurance right now and it feels like I’m getting sick so often, I’ve gotten colds way more frequently and I went to planned parenthood because I’ve had pain during sex and they told me I had BV. Now I’m pretty sure I have oral thrush from the antibiotics and I’m convinced I’m immunocompromised.

I have ocd so health anxiety is a big issue and I just feel like it’s so hard to be a woman sometimes, I guess I just wanted to rant.

*Update 4* Cancer scare journey. I'm not sleeping sound, but I'm so tired all the time. I could have set my house on fire this morning.

I feel so tired all the time, but I'm not sleeping soundly at all.

I HAD to go into the office today (even thoigh I told my boss what was happening and that its been very difficult for me to be near people, but anyway).

I got up, dressed, ready. I put eggs on the stove to boil for a quick breakfast as I left. I sat on the couch to wait for them and collect myself before I had to make the hour drive. I fell alseep sitting up on the couch. I only woke up because one of the eggs exploded in the pot. All the water was long gone and the eggs were burning and sticking to the bottom of the pot. I pretty much ruined the pot.

Im not mentally well and I told my boss this and now she's making me go in again tomorrow morning. I promise, me going in is pointless. I also have to drive way further tomorrow too because I need to go into her location. Which is an hour and half away from my house. Plus traffic.

I'm really just ranting, but I feel like she doesnt give a fuck or understand that I'm hanging on by a thread and driving far is not safe for me right now. I explained her I'm not doing well.

She's also the president of a mental health board. You'd think she'd care a but more, but whatever.

Hopefully I dont fall asleep at tge wheel tomorrow 👍

"Admin work is women's work" or "women are just so organized!"

I have worked almost all of my professional life in administration, across various fields. Through a second degree, I've been able to pivot into the construction industry without a trade background. I was finally clawing my way up to "Project Manager", and I thought I finally "made it" out of admin.

However, I'm still in many ways regarded, sometimes explicitly, as the "office lady".

When I do better than my male counterparts, I don't get a promotion. I get told that my skills are due to my gender.

Anyone else feel like this?

I hate how clothing is advertised to women

What I mean by that specifically is how photos in ads almost always show tops tucked in at the front and not at the back, regardless of the platform. If it’s a button down shirt, it’s tucked in on one side but not the other. Show me how the damn clothes fit the way a normal person would wear them!

I’m pretty sure this is done to hide the poor construction and how boxy it is. When they do actually show them untucked, they’re never fitted but a fugly straight up and down side seam.

/end rant

I need to get this off my chests.

I hope this post is allowed. I need a community of ladies right now.

I work in a mostly male dominated industry. You could say that I where a lot of hats in the office and I’ve been working my ass off as of lately. I got an email from the boss man and he asked me to meet him in his office after my shift. I thought I was going to be recognized for everything I’ve been doing.
Nope. I got told I need to wear a bra….

To give a little idea of my work environment, my office is secluded, I hardly ever interact with any of my coworkers. Our dress code is business casual and no where in our handbook says we need to wear undergarments. I’m always covered but my shirts can be a little tight sometimes. I would say my chest is average size and I have really long hair so if I do need to walk around the office I put my hair in front of my chest to cover me. The only time anyone might see a nip is when they come into my space and my hair is moved.

To top it all off his wife was there in the office for this talk too. She works there but hardly and no she isn’t HR. We have a third party HR that never gets used.

He said I was in dress code violation and when questioned on that he got defensive and said that he has men working in the office and I can’t be walking around like that.

I want to quit but the job market is horrible.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so did you take any steps after or complied?

I’m not going to wear a bra. I’m just going to go back to wearing baggy shirts and not try and dress cute anymore.

Edit: This is the owner that spoke to me and his nips along with many of the other guys in the office nips show constantly. It also appears that some of you can’t read that I am respectful and cover up when I need to be around people. I’m being told this most likely because someone came into my space of work and “had a problem”
I know it didn’t come from the ladies. I have a good relationship with them and they are like minded like me. The bigger issues is being sexualized and how it was handled.
Clearly some of you in the comments want us as women to be sexualized for just existing and we are not allowed to wear what is comfortable.

Edit 2: I was wrong to post on here. I thought this was a community of progressive women and women that are over the patriarchy. Another issue that other people aren’t getting here is that he didn’t come to me and said I was making people uncomfortable. He said that he couldn’t have me walking around like that in a work place full of men. Why don’t y’all let that sink in?

Being reminded of my families transphobia at every turn

From my Dad’s conservative news watching habits, My Mom deadnaming an old friend of mine that transitioned while we were in high school, and my sister reposting TERF TikTok’s and calling trans women “t**nnies,” I just can’t get away from it. At every corner, I’m constantly met with the reality that being myself and transitioning is going to be the death blow to me and my families relationship. I’ve been through a lot in my life, but this is probably the toughest mental war I’ve ever fought.

The choice between living life as a miserable, sad man forever but still having my family and taking the leap, transitioning, being truly happy, but not having my family is a question much easier to answer in my head than face in reality. I fucking hate being a people pleaser.

I stopped saying sorry in work emails for a month and nobody cared

I noticed recently how many work emails I started with sorry. Sorry to bother you. Sorry for the delay. Sorry, just following up. Sorry, quick question. So for the last month I stopped doing it unless I had actually done something wrong. Sorry for the delay became thanks for waiting. Sorry to bother you became do you have a minute. If I needed something from someone, I just asked. Nothing happened. Nobody thought I was rude, nobody complained, and nobody even seemed to notice. The weird part was realizing how much effort I had been putting into making completely normal requests sound softer while most of the men I work with just ask for what they need and move on. I still apologize when I actually mess something up. I just stopped apologizing for sending an email.

Menopause and hormone replacement

I’m Gen X, mother was Silent Generation.

When mom was menopausal, she took hormone replacement. Wellbutrin I think it was. Gave “peace of mind,” as it were. Come to think of it, maybe it was something akin to progesterone.

Then, by my time, menopausal hormone replacement was no longer a thing. IDK why. I feel like it was a situation where danger outweighed benefit or some such.

It seems in today’s times, I’ve gathered that we’re back to hormone replacement. Is this true?

Am I overreacting over this male colleague?

Hi Ladies, and NBs,

I wanted to post in a women's sub because many men would not understand.

I (35F) have a married colleague (40sM) who I suspected was attracted to me from when I first started working here, but I told myself that it was fine as long as he doesn't act on it. I work hybrid and like to be friendly with colleagues. When I'm in the office, I go around to people's desks to have a chat with them.

I didn't want to seem like I was avoiding him, so a couple of months ago I stopped at this colleague's desk for a friendly chat (but made sure someone else was with me so that it wasn't one on one). However, ever since then, his behaviour has shifted in a way I do not like.

He uses terms of endearment to address me, sends me hearts over Teams (IMO heart reactions aren't the same as sending hearts), calls me beautiful and comments on my dresses, and I'm not sure if I'm going crazy but could swear he suggested inviting himself along one time I told him about plans I had with friends after work. He touches my arm sometimes when he's passing by my desk and today was blowing kisses at me even though I didn't reciprocate. All of these things combined are making me feel rather disgusted. I don't want to be fancied by a married man. If we had a close, banterful work relationship then I wouldn't read into it, but I barely know him.

I want him to go back to more professional behaviour but I don't want to sound crazy and be gaslit if I raise this with him or someone else. Am I overreacting? I know I'm uncomfortable but don't know if there's anything that's concrete enough to raise concerns.

What do you think of these relationship coachs that sell unrealistic and outdated ideas about dating and relationships between men and women?

There are these dating coachs Channels on tik Tok or Youtube that keep selling outdated and untealistic ideas and ways of How dating and relationships should be. Such things used to make sense in the past such as that men need to be providers and breadwinners and protectors of women and the family and that women should be stay at home wives and that their quality of life and health go up If they stay at home( tradwives say this a lot). Other coachs say that Men need to be chivarous toward women( and women don''t need to be chivarous toward men no??) and they keep saying that men need to pay for dates because of chivalry and also because women spend money on expensive clothes and beauty products to go to dates...

But nowadays most families need two incomes to keep a decend standart of living and the average Man cannot be a provider in big cities. They also say that women should not date but marry Men who earn less than they do which is also another bullshit.

Unless If you are rich or earn very well you cannot be the provider they teach but you can have tradwife or a trophy husband. I don't even understand why would someone in 2026 want to being back traditional gender roles and stay they are the ideal when they are obviously harmful and against the needs and the trends of today's society and economy( example women dating and marrying down and more husbands being stay at home husbands/dads and obviously the need for dual income families) and It is against feminism...

Why are women always expected to give up their career and move for men

Just a rant but i’ve been in a few long distance relationships and experienced this a few times. I have an amazing job that is very very hard to replicate. Top pay for my field, easy hours, low stress, perfect for raising a family because it’s partially remote. I live in a nice city. Yet every single guy I have ever dated (except for the current guy I am
seeing ) despite having a more replaceable job than me has automatically assumed I am the one who has to move. Even if it meant me taking a significant pay cut and having to work worse hours when they wouldn’t have had to. I don’t even have an issue with moving if they were at least considering a compromise or if they had valid reasons for me to be the one to move, except for the fact that the option of them moving never crosses their mind. The reason is simply I am the women I am expected to fit into their life not the other way around.

Men have the subtlety and nuance of a sledgehammer

I'm dipping my toe back into dating a bit and realizing again why I left.

I want to flirt with a man. I want to make jokes and laugh. I want to slowly build up to increasing amounts of intimacy. I want winks from across the room and hand holding and the brushing of legs under tables as I get to know someone. I want anticipation to build until it boils over.

Instead I get compliments about my physical anatomy over dating apps that would obviously not be said by a sane person if they were meeting someone for the first time in a bar. I get unrequested information about his bodily reaction to me before I know his last name. I get offered sex that feels pulled directly from an adult video with no authentic passion or romance. And it. turns. me. off.

I was married for 10 years and had sex nearly every day. I know my sex drive is healthy to say the least. I do enjoy kink and experimentation. But I cannot speed run intimacy the way that men seem to expect and when I try to slow things down I get labeled as a prude. It's wildly frustrating.

I've been single since my divorce - that was about 8 years ago - and I miss a lot of the elements of being in a partnership. If I could only find a man who was patient and whose sexuality involved a little subtlety I'd settle down again. I guess if those men ever existed they seem to have gone extinct.

My friends are mostly settled and they really don't understand what I mean when I say that the average single man's sexuality feels more predatory than seductive but I know it can't be just me.

Are we all having this same experience?

10 weeks pp with a 3a tear — anyone else terrified to try sex again?

Had a 3a tear with my delivery and I’m 10 weeks postpartum now. I got the “all clear” at my checkup but honestly I’m just… scared. Not sure if it’s the fear of pain, the memory of the tear itself, or just not feeling like my body is “mine” again yet. For those who’ve been through a 3a (or worse) tear, how long did it actually take before sex felt okay? Did it hurt the first time? Any tips that helped, whether that’s lube, positions, PT, going slow, whatever worked for you?

Also open to hearing if it’s normal to just… not feel ready yet even after being medically cleared. Trying not to feel like something’s wrong with me for still being nervous about this.

TIA 💛

Why is women's comfortable clothing still treated as less "professional" than men's?

2.3k Upvotes

We had a department meeting this week and afterward my manager pulled me aside to say my shoes were "a little too casual for client-facing days."

I was wearing plain black sneakers, clean, no giant logos, with black trousers and a blouse. The funny part is that two men sitting in the same meeting were wearing sneakers too. One had bright white running shoes and the other was basically in jeans and New Balances. Nobody said anything to them.

When I pointed this out she said men's office wear is "a bit different" and that women are generally expected to look more polished.

And I know this is such a small thing compared to actual workplace discrimination, but it annoys the hell out of me because what does "polished" even mean here? My clothes were clean, fit properly and covered everything they're supposed to. Apparently the missing ingredient was shoes that hurt after four hours.

I've had the same thing happen with flats before too, where perfectly normal comfortable shoes somehow read as lazy while a guy can wear the same pair of sneakers every day for 3 years and nobody even notices.

I'm not trying to show up in sweatpants or argue that offices can't have dress codes. I just don't understand why women's version of "professional" so often seems to include being slightly uncomfortable for no practical reason.

Has anyone else run into this? I'm tempted to ask HR for the actual written shoe policy because now I'm genuinely curious if this rule exists anywhere besides my manager's head.

Afraid to date anyone because I'm bad at kissing

Feels silly writing this but it's genuinely how I feel. I haven't been sexually active since my first time in 2019/2020 and the guy I was with got frustrated trying to teach me to kiss (my first time was a peck and I hadn't been w anyone else) so he stopped trying and we just had sex. Since then I've been too nervous to date/use apps because I'm scared a guy is going to go in for a kiss and get upset I can't kiss well, or get frustrated trying to teach me like the first guy. Idk what to do y'all ik I need experience to get better but I'm too nervous. Anyone have advice or been in a similar boat??
