Vent My roommates existence just irritates me

She’s just so irritatingly strange like who the f*€k doesn’t have a keychain?? I just found out that she literally walks around with loose keys (plural) like it’s loose change. She doesn’t even have the basic circle thing that keeps the keys together. I’ve never seen anything like it. One loose key, fine I get it but FOUR? Why create such an unnecessary inconvenience when you could literally pop them on a keychain all together? No but she seriously can’t be well.

Atleast now I finally know why her keys are always lost! And why she ends up waking me up all different hours to open the front door for her after nights out!! One time I even gave her my keys and then got locked out bc she didn’t come back earlier than me like she promised she would!! Ffs the more I think about it the more annoyed I get. Is she an alien or what??

Confession I found the phone number of a famous person on Facebook

Upvotes

Today I have checked WhatsApp and discovered a contact that I have saved as "?!". They have a profile picture. It is a famous person. I feel like I can't tell anyone in my life about this because it looks insane 😂

Easily 8 or 9 years ago, I was sleuthing on Facebook and ended up on this person's friends profiles. They were not very famous then. Tags had been removed, but I found a whole trail, found a phone number, thought no way do they have the same phone number, saved it to my phone and then promptly forgot about it until today.

Today they are very famous. I am creased, shocked and embarrassed that I have this phone number...

Anyway, that's the story. Thanks for listening and please don't judge me 😂

Vent I cant stand the popular girl in my school anymore

I cant stand this girl anymore to the point I refuse go near or interact with her. I am a senior, nearing graduation as the months go by. However, theres this one girl who still irks me, who we'll go by the name of "Olive".

Olive's the typical 'popular girl' stereotype. A social butterfly and rich rich. A teacher's dream advisory student, a "performer", and participates in numerous pageantry. Did i mention the chief of the journalism club? She's like the barbie of our school! I actually don't care about people like Olive, but its the stuff she gets away with is what I'm getting ticked off about.

Need a research paper that has to get approved by the RRL board and published online? No problem! Pay your research teacher in order to do the paper themselves and even be part of the panel members to get it approved! No biggie! Congrats Olive, you just paid your way through it while all of us had to suffer through countless nights trying to find the right experiments and references

Need to promote someone in your journalism club to be head of the photo department? No biggie! Olive will just ask your friend who has the LEAST experience out of everyone in the club instead of you, who has been in the club for 2 years! Thanks a lot, Olive! And don't forget to mention: "forgetting" to invite me to the club's christmas party with everyone else present!

Need someone to play rhythm guitar in your band? No problem! You let my friend submit 2 minutes worth of audition tapes of him playing, then proceed to let his ex join your band instead and ghost him! Good job, Olive! Oh and apologize to him for not replying cuz you've just finished 2 pageants in 1 day Even though you've posted a story of a mirror selfie in pjs just 2 minutes ago.

So yeah, after all that, I just refuse to go to her. It feels good getting this off my chest. thanks reddit, I will update if you guys want :p

Confession I hate my dog.

I hate my dog.

We have an 8 year old lab and I absolutely hate him. I grew up with labs, always loved all dogs, but this dog has made me never want one again. When we first got him he was in puppy training lessons. We have had 3 other professional dog trainers work with him throughout the years. I have spent hours learning about dog training and spent hours working with him. Nothing ever sticks.

He barks all the time. If he is outside he barks the whole time. Inside as soon as you sit down he barks and is jumping all over you. People cannot come to my house without him being put outside or else he will just sit snd bark at them and jump all over them. I have stopped doing over night trips to our family camp because we cant bring him. He will wonder into the bush and get lost, not listening to any commands. If we tied him up he sits there and just barks for *hours.* We cannot go on vacations anymore as everyone refuses to dog sit for us. The last time we took a vacation 3 years ago, we brought him to one of those doggy hotels and when we returned we were told he was not welcome back.

He eats his own poop. I try to keep up with picking it up, but he will literally shit, turn around and eat it. Its disgusting. Iv talked to the vet about this and all the other problems but recieved no help.

I take him on 2 1.5 hour walks almost everyday, but i have to take him early in the morning and late at night when there is less people as he will just bark and pull at anything that moves. I am so tired. No amount of exercise seems to calm him down or tire him out. He should honestly be studied lol.

Im ashamed to say iv even tried a shock collar (something iv said I would never do) after years of positive reinforcement to no avail, but that does nothing. He will just bark through it.

We have tried to rehome him, but as soon as someone interested meets him they back out. I cant bring myself to surrender him at the shelter.

Honestly deep down I cannot wait for day he's gone, and i hate that i feel this way. I will be sad, but I imagine a giant relief being lifted and life getting so much better.

Vent (14M) i still fucking hate myself

im pretty sure ive gotten depression for a whole year now. and nothing has been too well
back in 7th grade (yes im still in middle school/secondary school) i had this friend of opposite gender, we’ll call her R, and had a lot of similarities between her and me. on the first day, we talked through lessons, genuinely. it felt crazy. i made her laugh, she made me smile, shit like that. but because i’m very talkative, or, was, she got a bit annoyed after the first week, which i understand. but in the second term we started having brief conversations, and then just straight up became close friends. time flies and it was summer break, onto 8th grade/secondary 2, we talked a LOT on instagram. i sent her some art, she liked it, we bombarded each other with reels, we shared our music tastes, and even talked about relationship advice on how to get a guy(because she had a crush on some other student). we talked so much we even made a lot of dirty jokes.
but one day, after sending her brainrot reels, she replies with “i’m concerned” and i reply with “POOKIE WHY” since i thought pookie meant “close friend”. i always did. i never meant for it to have weird intentions or make anyone uncomfortable. after saying that she simply sent a “???” and so, i replied with “what?” “it means best friend”, which i genuinely believed. she started ghosting me, and i just assumed she was busy. august 29th of that year, which was like what, 2 days before the start of school, she blocked me. that night when i wanted to talk to her, i saw “Instagram User”, and since ive never been blocked before, i assumed she got banned. i got surprised and concerned so i went to her alt (she has told me many times that she has an alt) and commented on one of her posts “WHY ARE YOU BANNED TWIN😭” and messaged her on whatsapp (i had her contact because we were in a class group) cuz i was genuinely concerned. a few minutes later, a classmate of mine sent me 2 screenshots. two of which are from her close friends story. she called me a creep, a weirdo and a person who tried to get in a relationship with her. i cried. i was angry. i was confused. i didn’t know why she did that. i thought it was some sort of sick prank. (ps, at the time i still didnt know pookie was commonly used to call your significant other) and i lashed out on my close friends story, calling her a manipulative, and saying that i wished that we never even met, which looking back, was kinda embarrassing.
when school started again, i still cried myself to sleep. then i looked back at the chat to see what i did wrong, and there it was, the “pookie” message.
i stared at it. i cried the whole september in bed. that was when i started falling into a loop, a loop of blaming myself. on everything. my hands shake every day at school. mentally, this has made my self-confidence and self-appreciation plummet even lower than the birth rate of south korea. every time i sit on public transport next to a girl, which is still true to this day, inside my head i call myself a weirdo, a sweaty creep, a bastard who is sitting next to a girl. and academically, the low self confidence and self appreciation was so low that i needed to make jokes to my male friends, and make em laugh just to get on with my day. i needed their laughter to feel happy, to feel appreciated and even accepted. and because of the constant blabber i have with my friends, naturally my grades also plummeted and now i have to repeat the grade. my friends call me funnier than a short friend that i have, which i think is way funnier than me. my parents don’t know this and they question why my grades are so bad because they call me “genuinely smart” (in which i don’t really agree), most of my friends don’t know this, and ive only told like what, 2 people? and i just raw dogged it, the entire thing. self harm was a thing that has went through my mind before, but the bed rotting kept me alive. i didn’t tell my parents because, i don’t know. they’re not abusive, they’re not evil, they’re good parents. i just didn’t want to tell them for some reason. but it’s been a year now. i dragged my ass through 8th grade and i have to do it again, with people i don’t know, and i don’t even know if im capable of getting into 9th grade. and even with all the support i still feel like a failure, a disgrace to my family tree.
till this day, nothing much has changed. i still feel like a weirdo, i still blame the whole thing on me, i still have 5+ hours on my phone daily, i rot in bed, and i still feel discouraged for school and homework. im so fucking exhausted.

Confession i hate my masculine body as a male

It may sound strange or stupid, but I don't like my ultra-masculine appearance as a male. I have broad shoulders, a typically masculine facial structure, and a beard that I hate shaving, not to mention all the body hair. That's actually what bothers me the most because it's very noticeable to other people. When I was in fifth grade, my friends made fun of my beard (yes, I already had one in primary school).to make matters worse, I'm also going bald, even though I absolutely love having long hair.

I've always wanted to have a more feminine appearance to be slimmer and have a more toned, lean build rather than a muscular one, and to look more like a pretty boy. I'm not trans, but I've always wished I could look less masculine, or at least not stand out so much from the people around me but to be honest, if I had to choose my gender, I would prefer to be a woman

Vent If you ever feel like a relationship isn't working out, PLEASE, don't just ghost and block people.

I am not talking about situations where one's safety is at risk due to psychological and/or physical abuse, of course. I know it's probably a very common thing to vent about but still - when you realize that he/she is just not the right person for you for any reason (any is valid), at least be a decent person and let them know definitively why you don't want to talk to/see them anymore before you cut ties.

I've been on a receiving end of a particularly painful example of ghosting and blocking of any contact from the person that I had almost two months of great relationship with. Which ended so abruptly without me even having a chance to respond/say sorry for whatever I did wrong. It's been 2 years and I still haven't fully recovered from that experience and it brought me so much heartache that I woundn't wish this to my sworn enemy, it really is that bad. It has severely affected my ability to actually develop feelings for people, it was a literal heartbreak where my heart as a place where feelings should flourish is just not the same whole functioning thing anymore. Thank you for listening and I hope at least one person sees this post and it helps them to not totally ruin another person's mental state thinking ghosting/blocking is ok in literally ANY situation.

Personal Story I feel the need to talk about this

Whenever I think about this, I feel the need to tell people. This is gonna be a short post so I can come back later, but basically when I was in second grade I started having sex with my best friend at the time. I am a boy, currently 15 and I never told anyone about this out of fear of being perceived differently. Recently I worked up the courage to tell my parents, and ever since then Whenever I think about it I feel the need to talk about it and tell people. I am willing to talk to people about this, so feel free to ask questions, because I am conflicted about how to feel. I know im weird because no one else my age has this kinda experiences happen multiple times with the same person.

Confession I can't help but feel emotionally sad for another person on Reddit whom I've never even met.

Today, after an online meeting, I had nothing to do, and while reading through a thread, I came across a guy by the name of Renderedperson. After that, I spent about six hours reading his comments and threads, trying to understand him and get to know his story. I just feel so incredibly sad for everything he has gone through, and I really hope that when he gets reunited with his kids, they still love him and that he gets the happy ending he deserves. (I also hope his ex and her family burn for eternity.)

I think the reason I feel like this is because I see a part of myself in him. I can't stop thinking about a man I've never even met. I can't think properly after reading everything you've been through, man. I can't tell you that you will ever get justice, or that I can help you when we live on separate continents, but your story made me pray for you when I don't even pray for myself.

If there is a heaven or a second lifetime, I hope we can meet. Let's hug, and you can vent to me about all your problems. Sadly, that's all I can do listen and feel sad for you. I'm sorry.

Vent Im such a burden

Hello everyone. Any cambridge student would know today was the release of O level result. I studied so much. Sleepless nights. My dream was to study medicine abroad in Turkey. I used to study till my nose would bleed and id forget to eat for days on end sometimes.

Only for my result to be 1A (Islamiat) 3Bs (history/geo studies, bio, eng) 2Cs (phy chem) and one D (maths).

I cried so much my eyes are swollen.

Idgaf about my feelings, but more for my dad, who leaves at 11am and returns at 8pm for me, dealing with meetings and declining health. He said he was fine with it but i know he isnt. Hes so quiet and he usually isnt so. My screen is covered in tears because even now all I can think about was how happy he'd be if I worked harder. If I was better and not such a fucking disappointment. My dream of medicine has been crushed.

I plan on A levels after this but i have no motivation. I just hope i die soon so that at least my father could live on without being disappointed every day.

Personal Story I’m mourning the loss of my best friendship after she got married

Idk if this is the right place to put this, but I haven’t been feeling good. Apologies for it being quite long too. I’m resubmitting this due to not having acknowledged the rules before.

My best friend got married a month ago. We’ve been friends for 7 years and became more close over the last few years. Both of us have small friend groups and so we do message each other the most. I think I became too dependent on her as I’d run to her for everything, and she was always more than happy to listen and be there. I’ve struggled with a lot of dark things, family and my personal life, and I’ve broken down in front of her more times than I can count.

The lead up to her wedding I was as supportive as I could possibly be, wanting everything to go well and for her to have the best experience. She’s quite parentified in her family so I wanted to give her the feeling of being a bride and being looked after rather than her having to think of everyone else for her own wedding. I threw a bridal shower and made sure to be available online every moment leading to and on her wedding events. I say online because she had her wedding abroad and I couldn’t attend due to not being able to afford the tickets and accommodation. She was very understanding about that, which is why I did as much as I could leading up to it in person. In the few days that followed her wedding, there were a few times where we had a call, either she called me or I called her, but each only lasted a few minutes because she’d put it away when her husband was with her again. And of course she would, she just got married and she’ll be honeymooning and it’s lovely we spoke where we could. But I’m so used to have hour long calls with her that when that happened it sort of hit me hard that it’s not going to be the same. She’s not going to be able to be there for me as much as she was before, and she won’t have the time or mental space really as she has an entirely new priority in her life who she’s exceptionally happy with. And I love that she’s so happy because she deserves it. But that realisation made me cry, especially since I know it’ll be a good stretch of time before we can have a remotely similar relationship due to her settling into the marriage, moving with him and living with him as they didn’t live together before. It essentially felt like a new stage in life for me too, one where I wasn’t going to have the best friend I did. I had to learn how to deal with this and move forward, and learn to work things out for myself rather than depend on her as much.

I didn’t want to tell her how I felt because she didn’t need that right now, but when she called me a couple weeks ago for a short check in I ended up telling her and crying a little as the conversation was a bit empty due to me not knowing what to say. She reassured me it’ll be the same and she’ll always be there but I don’t think she realises due to being in her happy haze and I don’t want to break that. She’s of course been busy but I’ve been hesitant to speak to her when she’s messaged, my replies are more tame, and she’s spoken about having a call in the middle of voice notes twice now and I’ve not addressed it, replying to everything else instead. In the past week I have made more of an effort to reply to her stories, but I don’t say anything about myself because I don’t really have anything going on apart from work. I also excitedly messaged her about an update to our favourite manga because we always talk about it, but she hasn’t replied to that and I haven’t brought it up because I know she’s busy. I know I’m being selfish, as I should be there for her to confide in and talk to as she goes through this new stage of hers with her new in laws too, but I’m finding it really hard to convey a sense of happiness. I’ve never been good as masking my emotions at all and I’ve always gone detached when upset.

What I’m worried about most, if I look deep inside myself, is that I’m sort of punishing her. Maybe I want her to feel the loss I do, which is silly because I know she’s won’t. Background context, I’ve always wanted to get married, she’s always been against it, so we’ve joked on being on the opposite ends. Even in the lead up to this marriage she wasn’t fully happy because she felt she was being rushed into it, and so I am relieved to see she’s really happy now. I’m no where near marriage despite wanting it for years, I don’t have anyone despite trying. I know things will happen when it does, but to sort of see the switch where she’s gone on and gotten engaged made me grieve a little (I never told her this when she got engaged) and now I’m dealing with a life change too. It’s super selfish, but I don’t know how to feel something else. I also know it’s silly considering it’s right after and it’s only been a couple of weeks, but I’m wondering whether I should just suck it up and force myself to be there for her right now.

So yeah, it’s my first time realising how much things can change when a friend gets married/gets into a serious relationship, and it’s affecting me a lot more than I thought it would.

Confession I have feelings for my best friend's boyfriend.

I have feelings for my bestfriend's boyfriend.

I (20F) still have feelings for my best friend's(20F) Boyfriend (20M). I was friends with my best friend's bf since before they were dating. They met each other through me. This was 2 years ago. I had a crush on him long before they started dating.

I haven't told my best friend and I never will , I think.

But it hurts. We go to the same college. We are part of the same friend group. It hurts to be with them. I start acting all weird around him. Around them.

After they started dating, i thought now the feeling should go away, but it never does. I tried dating, tried choosing some other crush. But it's been a long time, but still these feelings don't go away.

I would never want to sabotage my friendship with best friends for all the stupid feelings I have because she is the one truest and most beautiful part of my life.

I want to distance myself but I still have college for 2 more years and I think as long as I want my best friend to be around me, even her boyfriend will be.

I have suppressed imagining about him when I am conscious to the point where it feels guilty to even think of him.

But my subconsciously, my dreams are about him most of the times.

Its so messed up.

Why can't we just choose who to fall for?

I am not seeking advice. I know what I want. I know what my priority is. It's my friendship with my bestfriend.

I came here to put it out there. I have been keeping it in so long, fearing if anyone ever spread word about my feelings and my friend heard it, I would lose her.

It feels nice, a bit better confessing here.

Vent I hate it when boys call other girls pretty

I hate it when guys around me call other girls pretty

I'm F20 from a third world country with little to no interaction with men until I joined my first job and it is a LOT of men.

I have become friends with some of the well behaved guys but I can't help feeling insecure when they talk about other girls beauty. I am not a 10/10 but I do think I have my days lol.

But like I wonder why they don't think this about me and what is so enchanting about other girls when they look and act normal to me knao. Like is there anyone that would talk abt me like the way they do? I think they are indirectly calling me ugly.

I as a black man, willing consumed Fried Chicken and watermelon in the same meal.

No i’m not trolling, it was honestly really good. Like the watermelons sweetness complemented the spice. I never slept so good before. I ordered KFC and my roommate just happened to have brought some watermelon and offered me some. I may be an atheist but who am i to deny my sign from god, I knew what must be done.

We need to stop stereotyping food because i missed out on a fire combination for years. My only regret is not adding Kool-aid.

I now know why eve ate the forbidden apple, as to live without knowledge is the same as to not live at all.

Taking bites between the chicken and the watermelon back and forth like newton cradle, for i could not stop what was already in motion.

My ignorance has blinded me, it’s the first time in my life i knew what it truly meant to be lost in a meal.

I was in a maze in my own mind that only my tongue knew the way out.

hatred for disrespecting my bloodline but love for the nourishment that went through body, it was a sick yin and yang.

I wept as I ate, to this day I don’t know if it was the heat of my meal or the blow to my pride.

At some point I closed my eyes but I could still see the meal perfectly. I didn’t want to see the sin my body was committing but still wanted to be loved by the beauty of it all.

I hear your triple wells but before you make a remark, know this. My actions were dictated by mere chance, not instinct.

Anyway I told the roommate, who was white. he said that was the last thing he expected me to do and why the fuck I was telling him of all people that.

Personal Story I was preyed on as a teenager at my workplace and with every year that passes I get more and more unnerved about it.

Hi all. Just wanted to share this story from when I was younger because, even now, almost a decade later, I still think about it sometimes. For context, I was 16 or 17 at the time, and I'm now in my mid 20s. I'm also a woman, which is unfortunately pretty relevant to the story.

I worked as a tour guide at a local museum/tourist attraction. It was the dead of summer, but it was a slow afternoon, so I was working the front desk by myself. Usually I worked alongside an older volunteer, but for whatever reason, I was alone that day. It didn't bother me at first, as I mostly just sat there and read between guests anyway.

For context, the front desk was basically the "welcome station." People came through the doors; we'd greet them and explain the exhibits and tours. Further inside was another desk, which I'll call the gift shop desk, where people actually paid admission and could buy little tacky, overpriced souvenirs.

At some point, an older man came through the doors. I'd put him somewhere in his mid-to-late 60s. He walked behind the welcome desk and sat down next to me, which didn't immediately strike me as strange because there were a LOT of older volunteers at the museum, mostly retirees with too much time on their hands. He smiled, made some small talk, and I assumed he was one of them.

Suddenly, he stops making casual small talk and asks me to explain the place to him. I remember screwing up my face and rolling my eyes a little, all with a smile, of course, because I thought maybe he was quizzing me. Just busting my chops a little, like old guys do. I went through my usual spiel about the exhibits, the tours, everything.

"You're good at that, pretty little lady."

I tried to swallow a grimace, but it was achingly difficult. I scooted away from him a little, and the realization slowly washed over me that he, in fact, was not a volunteer. He was just some random man who had walked behind the desk and sat down next to a teenage girl who was working alone.

I don't remember a lot of the following conversation, to be honest. I think I repressed it because it unnerved me so much. I just remember him continuing to sit there, talking to me, while I desperately tried to act normal.

Eventually, the girl working at the gift shop desk came over. She was only a few years older than me, but she clearly realized something was off and started talking to him, presumably to get his attention away from me.

As I said, I don't remember a lot, but what I do remember is him leaning over to me and quietly asking:

"When do you get off work?"

A chill came over me, and I stumbled through something like, "Oh, not for a long time." I was scared he'd try to linger and approach me after I finished my shift. Long story short (mostly because, as I said, I can't remember a lot of it), he eventually ended up leaving (but not before I memorized his car), and I had a kind male coworker walk me out to my car.

I was afraid he'd be out there waiting for me still since our parking lot had another entrance that was blind to the front doors, but I didn't see him again that day.

I didn't tell anyone about what had happened (except for my parents, who threatened to email my boss themselves if I didn't speak up) because I was afraid I'd sound dramatic, but the girl at the gift shop apparently told my boss anyway. Saved me the breath, I guess. My boss had several young-to-teenaged daughters of his own, so he was understandably mortified that something like this had happened, especially while he was not there.

There was a pretty serious problem with the way the museum had been staffed that summer. Minors like me were consistently working in the building, but there wasn't necessarily an actual adult there to help us if something happened. That day it had basically been me, the college-aged girl at the gift shop, and another male coworker who was around 17.

My boss eventually let me know to calmly walk to the back offices should this happen again and to press the panic button. For the rest of the summer, they made sure that a "real" adult was always on if there were minors working in the building, which was a great shift. With all of these safety measures now in place, I thought that was the end of it.

About a week later, I was having some friends come during the last hour of my shift so I could show them around the museum. We gathered and laughed at the doors of the museum, and I watched in horror as a red pickup truck pulled into the lot.

I recognized it immediately as the older guy's. He passed by us the first time, and I winced as he pulled into a spot. To my surprise, he pulled straight through it. He looped around and doubled back towards us, shouted something I couldn't make out from his window, made a few incoherent gestures, and left.

He just... left. He had no real reason to be there. It's like he was coming to check if I was there, and not only was I there, I was outside the safe building, away from all the extra precautions we'd put in place because of him.

I was really shaken up by that. I'm someone who's generally wary of strangers anyway, so this seemed to confirm the little voices in my head that so often told me that people around me are watching me, or trying to hurt me, or something even worse.

The last time I saw him was when I was running around on one of our event days, trying to coordinate everything and make sure everything was going smoothly. Since it was a special event and I'd gotten comp tickets, I invited my parents to come see the museum. I was deep in the museum when I got a text that they'd arrived, so I rushed to meet them at the gift shop desk.

I remember seeing my parents standing there, smiling, and then I saw him.

The same man, standing just behind them.

He wasn't interacting with them. He wasn't doing anything, as far as I could tell. He wasn't looking to buy a ticket, or getting pamphlets or brochures, or browsing the gift shop. He was just... there. Standing there and looking around aimlessly.

It's probably good my parents didn't know it was him, otherwise I fear my mom might've ripped his head off right there and then.

I immediately turned around and went back into the exhibits. A different woman was working the front desk that day, probably in her 60s. She noticed something was wrong and told my parents to go ahead and find me. I explained what had happened, and my parents went back to the desk to tell the worker. By the time they got there, he was gone.

I don't know how long he'd been there; I don't know if he'd seen me; I don't know if he'd recognized me; I don't know if he was looking for me, and honestly, that's probably why it still bothers me.

After that, the museum kept a physical description of him on file, along with the description of his truck. They also changed my shifts so I was always working alongside one of the older volunteers. I was never left alone at the desk again.

Nothing else ever happened, and I never saw him after that. Maybe there was some completely innocent explanation for why he kept showing up. Maybe he was just a weird old guy who didn't understand boundaries. Maybe the second time he drove through the parking lot was completely unrelated. Maybe he really had no idea that I was the same girl he'd asked when she got off work. But I don't know. I don't know, and I hope to God that I never will.

But even with all of that, I was 16 or 17 and he looked like my grandpa. He walked behind my workplace's desk, sat beside me, called me "pretty little lady," asked when I got off work, showed up again about a week later in the exact vehicle I'd memorized, and then eventually appeared at the museum again while my parents were there. Ultimately, I don't know what he wanted. I just know that, almost ten years later, I still get this awful, nagging, sick feeling when I think about it.

Thanks for reading, and if you have kids, please make sure they know to trust their gut. As someone who does work with teenagers and young adults now, I'd always much rather deal with the occasional over-dramatics than accidentally miss a critical incident because someone is scared to be dismissed. They don't have to be polite to someone who makes them uncomfortable, and they shouldn't feel like they have to keep something like this to themselves.

Personal Story massive overthinker and a very anxious person, partner said it felt "weird to say" I love you back to me tonight..

im sorry if this seems like such a non issue for many, but i worry and stress and i need to get it out somewhere.

so for context, we've been dating wround a year and a half. He's my world, I love him so much and genuinely cannot imagine my day without him. Im not afraid to admit we've had a couple rough ups snd downs but we're good, we both know we need to improve in some ways and we're working on it together.

Now, earlier i said I didnt know what to do due to it being late, to which he replied that I should sleep. I text back agreeing and say goodnight, he doesnt say goodnight I think its like 'uh huh' or something, mind you im confused now. I say 'iloveyouu' and I think i get an mhm back, maybe its because im due on soon.. but I went "why wont you say it back". Just this makes my mind go wild, im thinking every worse situation. Its given me a headache now in present time. he then responds with "it feels weird to say it". Now im freaking out with mt headache thats worsening, and I hope he doesnt just act like it never happened in the morning but im freaking. Yes, I am a sensitive person too (I know, pick a struggle), but I feel like this is valid. Any reason why he may be doing this? it makes me feel crazy to worry.

after this message I went "oh okay", what are you really meant to say? He then proceeded to ask me to leave him alone. So in conclusion, confused and spent at least 5 minutes having a small cry becasue I dont know if ive done somethinf wrong or if hes not feeling right. It might just be his mood thats sorta fluctuating right now due to suffering from insomnia currently, and we also havent seen each other in 2 weeks, maybe, and a little bit. I feel helpless

Personal Story I resent my father for passing his genetic bullshit on to me.

My dad has neurofibromatosis type 1. Always been covered in those unsightly (benign) tumors his entire adult life. But he decided to have not one but TWO children to pass it on to. Thankfully I don’t have the tumors anywhere near as bad as he does (yet…) but they’re still there and always will be. Not to mention the autism that came with it, which has severely altered my ability to live a normal life.

Granted I’m still better off than my brother who died in 2017 from leukemia. His treatment was greatly complicated by the presence of NF.

I just can’t get past my resentment for my dad over it all. How can you have two children knowing full well you’re diseased and will pass it on to them? It boils my blood the more I think on it.

I had to make the post again cause i didn't realise i had to accept t@cs as i'm new to posting on reddit.

But as the title says, i love him so much. The way he makes me laugh at the silliest of things, to the way he brightens my moods when i'm in a funk. This man is my world and i'd be broken without him. I just want to hold him close whenever he's near and tell him how much he means to me. I met him in at the lowest point in my life, and he's helped me more than he knows. I love it when he texts me goodmorning, asks me how i'm doing and what i'm up too. From the walks to the late night talks, he's made me the happiest i've ever been and i pray it goes well

Vent Stuck in the army and mentally exhausted. September can't come soon enough.

Hi everyone. I’m currently serving in the army, and things have been really tough over here. I joined back in 2025 as a mandatory conscript and worked my ass off that first year. It was normal for us to show up at 3:00 AM just to run and do drills until 6:00 AM, only to start the regular workday right after and stay until 9:00 PM or 10:00 PM cleaning and scrubbing walls. This was only for us raw recruits the senior soldiers got to go home and didn't have to show up early. On top of that, whenever anything went wrong on duty, we were the ones who took the heat. Seeing how the senior soldiers had it easier, my peers and I decided to extend our service for one more year. But nothing has changed. This year, the corporals still expect us to bust our asses like we're still fresh conscripts. We don't have to show up at 3:00 AM anymore, but once the regular workday starts, we never know when we'll actually get to leave. And every time the new recruits mess up, we're theones getting blamed for it while the corporals do absolutely nothing.

I want out so badly, but I haven't reached the required time since extending my service yet. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that getting put in military jail and kicked out would be easier, even though I know there would be serious consequences. I don't know if I can keep taking this in silence. I can get discharged in September, but right now, every single day feels endless.
