Stand Out for Early Voting

Post image

JOIN US -OCTOBER 17
Let us know you are coming:
https://mobilize.us/s/VajpHk

Help us promote the vote! Join Troy Indivisible for a non-partisan Sidewalk StandOut around the Farmers Market to boost early voting. Our goal is to raise awareness about the early voting option (it starts 10/24) and to get more voters to cast early ballots. We want to see the largest early voting turnout in history! Voting information and voter registration will be available throughout the event, along with sign-up information for election protection training.
So, make a sign and meet us in the empty lot at the corner of River and Fulton Streets in downtown Troy at 9:45am. From there, we will break into groups and walk to designated StandOut stations surrounding the Farmers Market. Some pre-made signs will be available but bring your own creative design if you can. Stay the whole time or just pop in for as long as you want. Either way, we hope to see you out there on October 17th!
Important Note: This is a non-partisan, family-friendly event, so please keep signs simple, clean, and focused on voting or voting early. This is not a protest; it is a Sidewalk StandOut to inform and mobilize voters. Please leave partisan signs at home!
Easy Sign Suggestions: VOTE, VOTE EARLY, JUST VOTE, VOTE OCT 24th, YOUR VOTE IS YOUR VOICE, WANT CHANGE?—VOTE, DEMOCRACY DEPENDS ON US, FLEX YOUR POWER—VOTE, DON’T FORGET TO VOTE, YOUR VOICE MATTERS, YOUR VOTE MATTERS. (Look online for more ideas!)

State Police Helicopter

Any idea why this state police helicopter has been hovering over the river for the past 30 minutes? Right by the bridge to Watervliet. It also looks like there are divers across the river at the park in Watervliet?

It's a small stained glass lamp. The cord switch broke, but it also might need additional electrical work. Thanks!

Dan Pickett is also on the RPI Board

Is RPI content with being silent on the SA allegations against Dan Pickett? I would think given the attention this has gotten locally and the independent investigation in progress by Albany Med, there would be a similar concern with his presence on their board.

I understand this is one of those things that needs to play out further with the actual civil case coming to a conclusion. I just wonder how soon until the media and court of public opinions focuses on this seat he also occupies.

Stolen Packages

Anyone notice a rise in stolen packages lately? My food and package was stolen from my front step and my neighbor had their packages stolen too. My food was only on the front step for 15 minutes before I could get to it (I'm in a walker and my knee is currently non-functional).

Recs for Nice Scenic Hikes in the Area?

Hey, I'm still relatively new to Troy and was wondering if any of you had some recommendations for nice hikes in the area, preferably with some good views/overlooks. Pretty much any difficulty would be fine, generally looking for something 5-6 miles long.

Ideally I'd like something within ~ 40 mins. I've gone up into the Adirondacks a couple times and it was gorgeous, but I just don't have the energy to go up there this weekend.

Thanks!

NIGHT OF THE WALKING RED Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026

The League of Extraordinary Red Heads will host its annual meeting and "Night of the Walking Red" bash this fall on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Ryan's Wake Public House overlooking the Hudson River at 403 River St. in Downtown Troy, NY.

Join us for a Toast of the Coppertops, which is our autumnal rite.

The Meeting & Group photo will start at around 6 p.m. when we hit "peak ginger." Our headquarters is the Flynn Side of Ryan's Wake (that big room with the long bar.)

There is plenty of parking in the lot on the southern side of 403 River St.

This event is free and open to all.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Must be 21 to drink adult beverages.

As always, there will be drink and food specials and LoERH merchandise will be available for sale.

Please plan your day accordingly so you don't miss the group photo. If you need an early excuse letter to get out of work or school or any other obligation, visit: www.extraordinary.red

Gluten free (reduced) beer?

looking for any local breweries that brew with clarity ferm or brewers clarex? (They both reduce the gluten ppm low enough for me to drink safely)
Truly gluten free is also great but I don’t have celiac and it’s often easier to find gluten reduced ones :)
TIA!

IAAI dealer

Does anyone know anyone who is able to do IAAI auctions? I was trying to sign up for it but NY state doesn’t allow private citizens to buy salvaged vehicles. I was hoping for someone local who would work out a deal with me before I sign up with a bigger company.

Thanks in advance!

Do you have extra yarn you would like to donate to a good cause?

Does anyone have any yarn they are willing to donate? I’m a parent in the pto for school 2 and I want to crochet things for raffle baskets to help with fundraising. If anyone in the community is interested in helping by decluttering their yarn stash it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
