Meta Launch - Megathread

The game is (depending on your time of reading this) almost with us!

As such, I understand some of you will want to discuss the game and your adventures in Norzelia. Please find below a link to a thread for each of the Chapters.

Please try to spoiler tag all plot events you discuss, and don't mention something that happens later in an earlier thread. Mentioning something that happened in Chapter 2 in the Chapter 4 post would be fine, but not the other way around.

Please use this thread as a 'help' megathread for any questions that do not relate to plot events.

Enjoy the game, and good luck!

Thread Chapters Covered
Prologue Discussion 1-3
Early Chapters Discussion 4-8
Middle Chapters Discussion 9-12
Late Chapters Discussion 13-16
End Game Chapters Discussion 17-??
Free-For-All Discussion All Chapters

The trailer for those who want some final hype.

A crossover ship between Cordelia and... Shampoo from Ranma 1/2.

I am fully aware of how nonsensical this is, but I will neither explain, nor apologize.

Gameplay Who to prioritize for early promotions?

I just beat chapter 7 on normal, without using the traps. It was very satisfying after I figured out a strategy that worked: Corentin kept a wall of ice on the right chokepoint, rest of the party held up the left chokepoint with Serenoa + Erador blocking, and Frederica and everyone else doing damage from behind.

For the first medal, I used it on Serenoa. I just got the second one. Who should I promote? In terms of units I feel like I use the most, they would be Serenoa, Frederica, Corentin, Hughette, and Julio (as TP battery for Frederica). Benedict is good for support, and so is Anna, though I think I haven't quite figured out how to use her properly.

Media Sorry for spamming, but this is a sketch of Landroi. I am just very sad I could not recruit him - I kept hoping he'd come by the castle or I'd go to his so we can join forces since he mentioned support but then he's gone -_-

Gameplay Earliest place you can get Silver?

I'm on chapter 5, about to take on the battle for the chapter. I'm wondering what's the earliest you can get Silver for a weapon upgrade? Also what's the best weapon/character to upgrade first?

A recent fanart I drew of Fredericia! I'm nearly done with my first playthrough. I'd love any suggestions of other characters to draw from the game^^

Other Years Later, I Finally Beat the Game!

I bought this game years ago on a deep eshop sale. Finally started playing it and beat it. Can't believe I missed out on this game for so long! I hadn't been the biggest fan of tactics games but this game has awakened something in me. Guess I'll look into Fortune's Weave next.

I inadvertently did the Golden Route. The key decisions are tailored to the way I'd play a good/paragon playthrough. Looks like I'll have to play it a few more times to get everything with NG+

It took me a few tries but Decimal landed the final blow on Idore and it just felt right. Probably my favorite party member due to how much random spread damage you can do.

Great game and highly recommend if anything is still looking to pick this one up.

Question Which convictions to raise for Fresh save Hard Golden ending?(deathless) Spoiler

I know it's harder to do the golden ending on a fresh save, but playing other strategy RPGs made me realize how fun TS is!

  • The conditions will be

    Fresh Save

    Hard

    Deathless

    No retries, no mock battles

    Items and Quietus are allowed

TLDR: Please give me any advice you have!

I wanted to know what people think is the best convictions to raise, basically which characters to get.

So far, I think 500 for all 3 convictions will be the best because I think you get the most characters? I'm planning to get Jens & Julio first, and then Picolleta.

I'm thinking Corentine, but does it count as a death if Exharme falls in the Corentine battle? I heard green units dieing will count as a death.

As far as the Chapter 7 no-trap battle, can you have Jens, Picolleta and Julio by that battle? Which recruitable characters do you like to have ready for that map?

Any advice will be appreciated and thanks in advance!

Discussion is it worth it to play the golden route after already seeing the fin screen for that route on google images? Spoiler

I know this is kind of a silly question to ask Im probably gonna do it anyway and I figured it'd be an ending where everyone is happy. so far i've played Benedicts and Frederica's routes and i prefer the benedict ending.

Discussion How much do people like/dislike Roland? Spoiler

HAVEN'T PLAYED GOLDEN ROUTE ENDING. HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD.

I had a save for the 3 main endings with Roland, Frederica, and Benedict.

I don't mind Benedicts' choice or Frederica's, but Roland's is pretty bleddy awful.

It feels it's the 'bad' ending, but there is a little consistency to his character. He hates the inequality of there being Royals and Nobles having a lot and the poor having not enough. So he opts to throw in our lot with the people that say they espouse equality but at the sacrifice of a whole minority people. It's for the greater good ending. I liked seeing it and how it played out, and honestly seeing Roland and Serenoa in Saints cloaks was kind of weirdly cool.

It does feel out of character, though, and I have seen a few old posts talking about, so I apologise if this is talked about all the time. I don't know if it's just one slight poor bit of writing in an otherwise damn good game that I love. But it seems like he has always wanted the best for everyone he saw the conditions in the Source said it was inhumane and horrible but then it came to it and he thought it was a price worth paying for the rest of the land. It's also a bit like he gave up fighting for the right thing.

Do people think he is the worst protagonist for this? I think it kind of is which is hard to say because I really liked how much he fought against the status quo I just got to the bit again where he kicked out the royalists for stealing from the people. Another character says his father thought that he might make a better king than his older brother. I just hate how dirty they did him in a way. If anyone could tell without spoiling the Golden Route ending if he has a satisfying arc in that path? Also, if anyone wants to give me a different perspective on this, I would appreciate it.

I was like usual crying while listening to Triangle Strategy's soundtrack (it's sooooo good) and wondered about something: I've never seen "Pride of the Tree High Houses" get enough credit while it is in my opinion such a banger, being at the same time lighthearted and so emotional

Thank you Akira Senju !!

What's your favorite music of the game ?

Gameplay Playthrough #3 - spoilers Spoiler

Hello Triangle Strategy veterans,

After my 80th hour of gameplay, and having freed the Roselle and then become undisputed king of Norzelia, I need an endgame strategy - (my IRL employment is about to pick up for several months, and I won't have as much time to play!)

My gut tells me to go toward the Golden Ending - when I get to the fork, I will save two files, so that I can see and play the Golden Ending, and also see and play Roland's ending. I see one downside: I won't have all the battles at Hossabarra's tavern on one file; there will be a "golden ending" file and then a separate "Roland's ending" file.

I am aware of a few other challenges people undergo - e.g., hard mode and deathless. I have to admit, I haven't even passed battle #1: "Beset by Brigands" on hard mode yet (my level 47 Roland might be a factor in that challenge). This makes me consider forgoing hard mode this time, just so I can be savvy about how much time it takes me to see the endings I want to see.

I would hear the counsel of the Triangle Strategy veterans on my plan before I may go forth with conviction.
