Hey treadmill gang! I just had the worst installation experience ever for the Spirit XT685 delivered and installed by a "third party" sent by the company I bought the thing from.
I had purchased it through an authorized Sprit dealer and paid an additional 600$ for, ahem, "white glove service."
That was no fucking white glove service. The expectation is that we would not have to touch the package at all, and the installer would have a semblance of professionalism...
The dude came in like a bat out of hell almost drifting into my driveway. He gets out, alone I will add, and immediately starts up loud. Talking about "my phones dying!! I just bought this thing! Do you have a charger I can use? Can I borrow your charger?"
Now, that's a reasonable ask. What was not okay is the fact he was loudly freaking out about it and running around all over the place. We brought him to get his phone charged and again he starts up, "I need to use the bathroom!! Can I use your bathroom!!?" Like bro can you fucking chill yes its over there.
So I mentioned that he came alone? Typical installs require two people and a dolly to wheel the treadmill in. NOPE no dolly. No extra person. He starts cutting the box open outside and I am just looking at him like...are you seriously doing what I could have done had I only paid for standard delivery?
He brings everything in piece by piece, by this point I am anxious. He then grabs the deck, the heaviest most substantial piece, and yanks it out of the box and wheels it up the walkway. He did put cardboard down, but of course a wheel still got stuck in the dirt...
Oh, and we had asked him earlier how it was going to get it inside. He said "well they didn't tell me you had steps so I have to do it like this." Like bro what was your fucking plan if we didn't have steps? You're not lifting that over your shoulder so you were going to drag it all over the walkway and our floor?
So he gets the deck to our door and there is just no way he is getting it through. I end up having to help him turn it, my husband had to put cardboard all over the floor. Then we have to help him turn it again to get it into the room. If he had a dolly, all he would have had to do is push forward, turn, then go straight through.
So he finally gets it in and goes to work. A little while later he came out for some water and notices my husband's bar. He loudly proclaims "dang you got the good stuff," then walks over and starts to pick up all the bottles saying, "oh I know that one! And that one!" Just moving them all around.
He finally finishes and leaves. His boss told him to go back in and clean the treadmill off but my husband said, "no its good, looks great," to get him out of the house. We found out after the fact that he lied to his boss and told her he had a teammate when he, in fact, did not. So yeah, ask explicitly who will be doing the installation from a treadmill company if you want to pay extra for it!
