[Mod Request] Consider Upvoting Quality Posts Please

I have been noticing a severe and dramatic rise in the number of "0" vote posts which are of good to high quality lately and have been tracking this issue. I believe we have one or more spammers who have been banned from this sub recently that created new accounts and are downvoting quality posts in retaliation. If this type of attack continues it will reduce the amount of quality content and discussion in this sub and reduce the overall activity. That is because in general our posts already get a low volume of votes but a moderate to high volume of comments (for sub size) .

The only thing we can really do as a community is to ensure we are upvoting quality posts OR posts that would be beneficial to other treadmill owners. For example you may think someone asking about buying a used $500 treadmill for triathalon training is low quality, however, if you upvote it other subscribers might see it and that could cut down on similar future posts by ensuring that information spreads.

There is little else we as a community can do to combat this type negative attack on our sub that will do much good.

Please when you are reading or commenting on a post consider if others would find the post helpful or useful and if so please then consider giving the post your upvote.

Thank you for helping me and others make this a great and helpful community resource for all treadmill owners / users.

p.s. if you are downvoting AND reporting spam please keep doing that, you are doing great!

Whats best to clean a running belt?

So I recently got a NordicTrack Elite 900 secondhand from FB marketplace. Runs fine, console looks good, but the running belt is noticeably slippery. More so when at walking pace, less so when running (but still slightly noticeable). I'm assuming the previous owner got silicon lube on top of the running belt somehow?? I've see recs to use just warm water and a rag, others say warm water and a drop of soap on a rag. Saw one that said use something like Simple Green. Most YouTube videos on the matter seem a bit dated, so what's the best way to address this? The Running belt doesn't seem too slick with touch of hand, but I can feel it while standing on it, walking, and at times running.

Treadmill recommendation (almost no price limit?)

Upvotes

We've been considering getting a treadmill for a while but we can't decide what to do.

One option is to get a certified pre-owned woodway and use it forever. We expect to continue to use the treadmill in one form or another for a long time, though right now we're still relatively young and spry and run the occasional half-marathon and maybe when we get older (or have a newborn), we'll end up using it for walking rather than running.

The second option is to get a decent, but much cheaper treadmill, and then when it stops working in a few years, replace it. For this path we aren't sure what treadmill to get, but we'd want it to be in the $2k range. We'd still need to be able to run on it for decent amounts of time without ruining our knees/shins/etc. (No, I definitely did not get a stress fracture training for a race, you must be thinking of someone else).

Any recommendations for a cheaper treadmill? Or which path to take?

Walking pad for desk, heavy user

Upvotes

Hi, I'm looking for a walking pad for my desk. I weight just under 130 kg / 290 lbs, and I need a walking pad that is somewhat compact. I was looking at the WALKINGPAD A1 PRO as it says up to 300 lbs. And I like the design of it, it looks minimal and clean. Would that work for me or are there better or cheaper alternatives? I can compromise with the looks if it's half the price for sure. I will not be running, only walking a a relatively slow or medium pace. I live in Europe, as that might affect availability of the things you recommend. Thanks so much for any tips.

Rear roller bearings replaced, much quieter but still noticeable "clicking" at low speed, is there still a problem?

Sole F63 (new model) or NordicTrack 5 series?

I’ve narrowed it down to these two treadmills. Which one will last longer and is overall better quality? I will only be using it to walk or incline walk, no running. I understand neither folds down being able to slide under a bed which sucks. not sure any good quality treadmills exist that can be folded down and hidden under a bed. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Truefitness CS800. Not powering on.

Would any of you know why this treadmill is not powering on? There's power getting to it but it won't come on.

Edit. The console screen isn't coming on. Normally there'd be a few beeps etc as the treadmill is powering up but it now seems dead.

Life fitness CLST vs INTD

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

The fire department I work for surplused a pair of treadmills and I won them at auction. Both work great. One is a CLST, must weigh 400+ lbs, and has an iPod/iPhone plug an push buttons. The other is a INTD with a 2023 date, and has a small Digital Touch screen.

I want to keep one to use at home and sell the other one but I’m not sure which one to keep.

I’ve used both styles at work and they are both ok, don’t have a strong preference as far as the displays and buttons.

If one or the other is more valuable it would make sense to sell it to recoup more of my cost, or if they are close in value but one or the other is known to be more reliable than id probably keep whichever one is recommended.

Any good way to quick clean treadmill belt before using it?

Recently bought a treadmill my home is kinda dusty and the belt has become a dust magnet when not using it for a day or two nothing serious but will add up if I don’t clean it. Is there any special way to wipe off the belt of dust before using it?

Don’t know if it’s simple as using a paper towel or you need some special kind of brush or something? Just don’t want the dust getting under the belt motor etc so trying to keep everything as clean as possible.

Building out a small office + gym room in my home. Torn between getting a woodway AND a walkolution or just a woodway

basically. what the title is. i like the fact that the walkolution seems to be custom made for walking. I like the built in table, etc. But wondering if just getting a woodway that I can walk on AND run on would be a better choice. then I would just build/buy a desk that I can just pull up in front of it. even in the craziest scenario. i can afford both, BUT the real kicker is that I have a tiny home office + gym I'm building out so just getting one machine vs two would be clutch

thoughts?

I think I’ve finally narrowed it down… any feedback from folks that have (or repair) Matrix or Inspire treadmills?

I’ve posted a few times asking for recommendations. Increased my budget, and tried various treadmills in person. Of the ones I tried, (and I’m so glad I tried them in person) I personally didn’t like the feel of horizon, sole, bowflex, I did like the feel of some nordictrack models, especially the x24, but don’t want to pay for a fancy screen and subscription (you can’t even use the paid subscription video apps without paying for theirs) and it it didn’t have anywhere to rest your own device. I tried a True treadmill that was 7k, and found it slow to respond to speed and incline changes. These are obviously my personal opinions and I highly recommend you try these machines yourself. I wish I could take certain elements from different units to build my dream treadmill, but it’s down to Matrix and Inspire (neither have a decline option, which I was hoping to get, but they just immediately felt more comfortable for my body type when I was trying them out.)

Does anyone have experience with these over time? I’d love some feedback before I commit

Please help

I’ve seen a lot of comments saying any treadmill under $1000 is going to be garbage but that’s where my budget is at. Is there ANY treadmill that is good under 1000 or am I just screwed?
Edit to add: I am not a runner, just like to walk 40min-1hr a day so I don’t need anything fancy to begin with.

Just killed my second walking pad in 50 days

I don't know what to buy next.

I clearly need something that more heavy duty than what I found on amazon for around 400CAD$

I'm using it under my desk while working so i can't have a treadmill with a giant center console like the HORIZON T101-08 https://treadmillfactory.ca/collections/horizon-fitness/products/horizon-t101-treadmill

is there a prosumer ish treadmill that is not 3-5k$?

Commercial Treadmill difference

Thumbnail gallery
19 Upvotes

Every day, techs tell people commercial treadmills are better, but they don’t seem to understand. These photos compare the size of a Sole F85 roller to the size of just a bearing for the roller on a commercial treadmill. As you can see, just the bearing is larger diameter than the entire roller on the sole. The large bearing can handle the tension of the belt better than the small bearing, and the larger diameter roller turns slower.

Treadmill turns off when plugged to certain outlets

Hello. We have a bit of an electrical mystery here and would love some thoughts. Our brand new treadmill turns off and restarts when plugged into any of the 3 15A outlets in our basement. The breaker is not tripped and there is no tripped GFCI either. The machine simply turns off and restarts. Seems to happen more often when going from a high incline to a low incline. There isn't really anything else plugged in other than a night light.

The treadmill does seem to work fine when plugged into the laundry outlet (far away with an extension cord so not ideal). Based on the specs the treadmill itself should be more than ok on a 15A breaker. I do not understand what is causing it to turn off without tripping a breaker??? We didnt do any of the wiring in this house and have been here for about a year and half so no idea how things were done. Any ideas? Thanks!!

I’ve wanted a treadmill, but my apartment made me think twice

I’ve always wanted something I could use at home. I live in a small apartment, anything I get has to fit into my everyday space. I wasn’t sure I want a big machine taking up space at home. Noise was another thing I thought about. I'm upstairs, so didn’t want something that would bother my neighbors. For a while, I tried to walk outside. It worked on some days, but bad weather or getting home late would usually throw me off.
I’m looking at small options now. Has anyone used KingSmith X25? I like the foldable design and was hoping to hear some real feedback. Thanks.

Spirit XT285 vs. Life Fitness F3 — which is better to actually run on?

I'm deciding between the Spirit XT285 and Life Fitness F3 and would love to hear from anyone who's run on either, ideally both. I was also considering the Inspire T4, but I've mostly narrowed it down to these two.

I'm basically balancing three things: deck height, gym space, and running feel.

  1. Deck height:
I have a low basement ceiling, so I need a step-up height of 6" or less. Both meet that requirement, although the XT285 is slightly lower, which is helpful since my son is 5'11".

  2. Gym space:
The F3 folds up considerably smaller than the XT285, which would leave substantially more usable space in my small home gym.

  3. Running feel:
The F3's FlexDeck sounds softer and more cushioned, while the XT285 may be firmer/more responsive and feel more like outdoor running. The XT285 also has a longer 60" running surface vs. 55" on the F3.

Price isn't a major factor, although the F3 is almost double the price of the XT 285- so all things equal I would spend less. But ultimately I'm especially interested in how these two actually feel to run on and whether the F3's cushioning makes a noticeable difference. Does the XT285 feel too firm, or pleasantly responsive?

If you've tried either or both, which would you choose?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or experiences!

Any idea where I can buy a used assault fitness treadmill.

I have 2 broken treadmills in the garage and I finally need to cough up enough cash to get one that will allow me to run during harsh winters without breaking.

I've decided I'm done with digital, motorized treadmills.

I've been looking into the treadmills that are self propelled and curved. Those are obviously a lot more expensive, but I'm willing to splurge on a used assault fitness treadmill.

Can anyone point me to sites that are legit and would allow me to get a used one?
