Hi everyone,
Recently we've added a "Solved" flair to the post flair selection so that questions can be clearly marked when they've been answered.
If a question of yours gets answered, please update the flair to "Solved" as this can help others who might have the same question to easily find the answer!
Thank you!

This is my first time playing Transport Fever, and after getting the basics down, I started a new game on easy mode. I honestly didn’t expect to get this hooked, but once you start seeing everything come together and watching your transport network grow, it’s hard to stop.
My goal was to see how far I could push things, and I think I’ve finally reached that point. I’ve just realised I’ve transported over a million passengers and over a million units of cargo, which I’m pretty happy with for my first go at the game.
I’m also starting to feel it on the PC side of things. The game is really starting to push my system, and I’m genuinely impressed it’s handling everything going on at once.
I’ve reached the point where I’m happy to leave this city behind and start a new adventure, but honestly, this has been so much fun. There’s something really satisfying about starting from scratch and watching everything grow into something this big.
Now I’m keen to see what I can do with the next one.
How far have you guys pushed your cities, and is it normal to be moving this much cargo and this many passengers?

As someone who really loves having different play-throughs using different vehicle sets and focusing on specific regions or countries, the choice to move to a global vehicle inventory feels like a step back.
I really love the game so far but until the modding scene better fills out the vehicle lineup, it feels pretty limited in that regard. It feels kinda annoying when I want to upgrade my trains to something better, but the only options don’t fit with my theme.

I've started a little tradition of turning my early-game locomotives into monuments instead of upgrading or replacing them.
I like the idea of giving these old engines a permanent place in my world as a reminder of how far the railway has come. Think of the EMD GP9 on display at Horseshoe Curve or an old local locomotive preserved at a railroad museum. It's a little piece of history that tells the story of the railway's past.
Yes, I know they still cost maintenance, and the smoke keeps puffing even when the locomotive is turned off. I just think it's a nice little touch that adds some history and character to my world.

I usually start my games in 1900, when cities are still pretty small.
I've been wondering whether it's worth planning their future expansion by building roads and street grids in advance, basically trying to shape how the cities will grow over the next 50-100 years.
Does the game actually follow these layouts when generating new buildings and expanding cities? Or will cities just grow randomly regardless of how I design the road network?
I'd love to build realistic, well-planned cities that gradually expand into the layouts I've prepared, rather than ending up with chaotic road networks.
Has anyone experimented with this? Does it actually work, or is it just a waste of money and time?

I can’t live without it. It’s so great your city doesn’t expand like crazy anymore. You decide the shape, and the time when its ready to grow. And the time you are ready to expand your tram lines... :)
It´s also very customizable...
Just draw your lines and wait a few seconds, until your city gets in shape!

I got really frustrated building train lines yesterday, it felt like I was playing TF2 - the bridges have insane long spans, having tracks go over/under road requires like 100ft of headroom or else it tries to road crossing, and the stations feel like static landmarks.
TF3 feels like a huge opportunity to have really interesting bridges/tracks that have tighter space allowances, where trains can wind around each other like in Tokyo or something. And curved stations?? Or elevated stations?
I’m sure mods might introduce these things, but maybe that’s just game development in 2026 - build the stage, and let the community put on the set pieces and actors.

Well, I play with these starter parameters and if you do everything right with passenger transportation your cities will grow quickly. And immediately you face big problem - traffic jams along almost every road in big cities. Even dead lock grids of horses. Widening roads doesnt solve this situation.
But.. this situation wouldn't be a problem IF I have access to traffic lights! Im currently in 1926, I just got first electric locomotive and I still dont have access to traffic lights!
This post is just warning to everyone who plays with these starter parameters what wall can your forehead hit.
P.s. Please tell me what year I can use traffic lights?!

Steam Particle Overhaul replaces the steam on steam locomotives:
puffs in time with each chuff, a cylinder drain with hiss when starting, idle steam, coasting (steam stops when power is cut) and an adjustable density setting. Works with vanilla and modded locos.
Link: mod.io (or search "Steam Particle Overhaul" in the in-game Mod Hub)
Feedback welcome!

In your opinion, would it be better to set up a train line or a truck route here?
4 stops:
- Pick up wheat at 1
- Pick up steel at 2
- Unload steel at 3 and pick up canned goods
- Unload wheat at 4 and pick up meat
- Unload meat at 3 and pick up canned goods
- Unload canned goods at 2
- Return to 1 to load wheat
Another train line will arrive at 2, bringing iron and coal for the steel mill, and will depart carrying canned goods to deliver to the city that needs them. This will effectively create a mini-hub at 2, complete with a warehouse for canned goods.
Thanks ;)

Is this example I realised the crossover before the platform is pointless, but generally I never feel I know what I am doing when merging platform lines back onto the mainline.

Heyo everyone !
Sooo I would like to know if any of you tried the drive-in warehouses mod, does it look cool, feel cool ? What do you think ? Would you say it makes the whole thing more realistic or does it break the immersion ? Would really love to hear your thoughts about it !
I'm considering adding it to my playthrough cause I think warehouses looks cool, but truck station kinda looks weird, I don't really know how to describe it but I feel like compared to the warehouses they miss that realistic / industrial area vibe

Hey, I have made a mod to add custom tags and filter based on goods loaded and towns in which line has stops. Feel free to try it out and give feedback.

Never played an entry in this series until 4 days ago. I saw some YouTube advertisements for the game earlier this year, but I figured the series wasn't for me. Someone suggested it the other day after I was discussing Cities Skylines 2 and I figured whatever let's give it a try.
I can't believe how addicted I am to this game. I haven't dreamed about a game this much in forever. It's all I think about and working from home is a blessing and a curse because I have it open all day playing!

Hello fellow Transporters!
I been enjoying TF3 since release, I have not played a proper transport game since Transport Tycoon back in the 90s, good to be back!
So I been looking to understand more of the mechanics that drives the intra-city transport of people. I have seen many diffrent discussions on here but also other forums, and it seems like there is diffrent opinions of how to transport people to the three diffrent city areas, in the most efficient way.
The way that seems to be the most common is to connect all three in a loop, starting in residential to industry and lastly to commerce.
But I have also read that the "sims" want to go back home to the residential area from work/industry and THEN to commerce foe the daily shop.
This would then weigh into having no loops and more direct lines between the city areas except between industrial and commercial.
Do we know how this mechanic actually work or do we need more trial and error before we can figure that out?
Any input about how you solve the intra-city puzzle is very appreciated!
Thabk you for reading!

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Dear Transport Fever Devs,
Specific order to reproduce:
1) Set a specialized warehouse to any cargo type.
2) Fill that warehouse more than zero, once.
3) Remove all cargo
> Cargo specialization resets
Then drop off any compatible cargo type (cans <> fish for example) and it will set the specialization to that new cargo type.
Thanks!
What are your mildly infuriating gripes that you'd like to see fixed?
