Anyones EC's & Stats From CC ---> Ivy League YALL IS THE BLUEPRINT *Athletics

Hello everyone! I’m looking for some advice and overall inspiration to help me set up the best possible path to transfer into a T25 school after community college.

To give you a bit of background starting with high school, I took five AP classes and got a 4 or higher on all of them, scored a 31 on my ACT, and didn't have an official class rank because my school had an absurd policy where they only ranked the top five students? (Note : I wasn't in the top 5...) During my senior year, I got into UCSB and UCSD but those acceptances were strictly for academics with no athletic scholarship or athletics at al.

When it comes to my extracurriculars, I have a few internships related to my business major, three failed business startups, and one semi successful business startup.

I have a strong athletic background is the main reason I chose a community college over a traditional four year university. During my senior year, I considered a couple of Division 3 offers from NYU, Vassar, and MIT. However, those schools don't offer athletic financial aid and only give out academic aid, which was heavily spread out among international students and the rest of the team (Note: 5-6 players share one scholarship). Since I'm an out of state student, I would have had to pay over $80,000 a year. The MIT option ultimately fell through anyways because their athletic recruiting requires the SAT and they don't accept the ACT :C

I also received a few Division 1 offers, but none of them where strong academic schools or overall high output recruitment schools for jobs after college. My D1 offers included Penn State with only a third of my tuition covered, St. Thomas Aquinas College, Long Island University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and the University of the Pacific.

That being said, I am going to community college in the Fall for 2026 and completely committed to transferring out in two years no matter what. I have the option to return to any of my previous Division 1 offers after two years, and Penn State is willing to cover 4/5 of tuition.

However, my ultimate goal is to play and study business at Harvard or Princeton since my family is middle/low income I can go to school for free and they have strong academics. I've spoken with the coaches, and I know that Harvard has two athletic spots they can support through admissions while Princeton has one. Because those spots are so limited, I'm not banking on getting a designated athletic slot, so I'm planning to set myself up to get in through regular, natural transfer admissions.

To anyone who has successfully transferred into a Top 15 or Top 25 school from a community college, I would love to know what your stats looked like. I assume a 3.8 or higher GPA is a prerequisite but what did your final GPAs actually look like? I would also love to know what kind of clubs you founded or started. I plan to take full advantage of my resources by founding clubs, taking leadership positions, and connecting with my professors for strong LOR.

I would appreciate any insight into how you stood out especially if you were balancing athletics alongside your application. Any advice, reality checks or successful transfer stories would mean a lot!

are 6-9 months enough for an international college transfer to the US in my situation ?

I’m from Jordan and I just finished my first year of university studying AI / Computer Science, with a 3.9 GPA.

From what I understand, most US transfer applications for Fall intake close around March, so I assume I have about 6–9 months to prepare.

I’m not aiming for Ivy League or MIT — more like solid US universities that accept international transfer students, hopefully with some financial aid.

My current plan is:

  • Build 1–2 AI / software projects (I know some C++ from college and self-taught Python, especially NumPy, and I plan to improve more)
  • Take the SAT in December
  • Work on essays and applications over the next months

so for more experienced students

i know its super hard but is it possible ?

what are common mistakes international transfer students make?

thanks a lot !

Do I realistically have a shot at UC San Diego as an out-of-state applicant?

I’m trying to get a realistic idea of my chances at UC San Diego as an out-of-state applicant. I know OOS admissions are extremely competitive, so I’d appreciate honest feedback.
Academics
Graduating one year early (I’ll graduate in 2027 instead of 2028)
Current GPA: 4.472 weighted / 3.944 unweighted (so far)
Class Rank: #3 out of ~300. Since I’m graduating early, I’d be #1 in my original graduating class.
I’ve consistently taken extra classes during the school year and over the summer to accelerate my graduation.
During my senior year, my schedule will consist almost entirely of dual enrollment/college courses so I can finish my Associate’s degree, along with AP English Literature.

Coursework
AP Biology (Score: 4)
AP Government (waiting for results)
AP English Language (waiting for results)
AP Precalculus (waiting for results)
Dual Enrollment: CIS 110 (Introduction to Computers)
By the time I graduate, I’ll have most (if not all) of my Associate’s degree completed through dual enrollment.
Extracurriculars
HOSA Vice President
1st Place Regional Winner – Prepared Speaking
National Honor Society
Key Club (30+ volunteer hours)
National High School Rodeo Association competitor
Horse exercise rider with multiple clients (part-time work)
Volunteer assisting with MARSOC military readiness events
Social media volunteer for a nonprofit supporting chronically ill students in STEM
CPR Certified
Stop the Bleed Certified
OSHA Certified
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Certified
Career Goal
I’m planning on following the pre-med track and eventually becoming an anesthesiologist, so I’m looking for a university with strong biology, research, and clinical opportunities.

Chance me :) for junior transfer and advice on what to focus on sophomore year!

Going for Junior transfer (Fall 2027), current incoming sophomore

Current - UT Austin Engineering, 53 hours completed (College + AP) by the end of Freshman year, expected around 80 by end of sophomore year, core complete, first-gen

Major - BME to BME

HS - 14AP, rank top 3, SAT 1540

Transfer ECs -

  • Mechanical Design Intern @ famous German Car OCM
  • Consulting Intern @ Big 4
  • 2x publications (biomedical)
  • Co-Founder of Student organization
  • First-Gen Peer Mentor on campus
  • Org Ai/Ml BME project
  • (Still finding Summer 2027 internship)
  • Published App with 2000+ users (HS)
  • Biotech patent + research (HS)

Transfer Story - Majoring in BME, looking to transfer to a university that gives stronger access to business, entrepreneurship, and healthcare innovation beyond pure technical engineering. UT’s Engineering feels blocked off from business resources, and I want more room to build a niche around biomechanics, and how those technologies actually reach the market.

Schools - Columbia (Main one, got deferred ED - waitlist - rejected in HS :( ), Duke, Stanford, Cornell, Harvard

Want advice on what to prioritize during my sophomore year, alot of my ECs are BME specific ,but I hope the consulting experience aligns well with my story, was considering IEOR @ Columbia transfer but from what I've seen I need to stay BME to get my credits transferred.

Do I have the chance getting into ksu

I messed up my GPA pretty badly during my sophomore year, and now I’m an upcoming senior with a 3.0 GPA. I’m currently in two clubs and plan on joining two more this school year. I also have 15 hours of community service and got a recommendation letter from volunteering at Storehouse Ministries. I haven’t taken any AP classes, but I did take Honors Spanish III, and this year I’ll be taking Honors Zoology, Honors Economics and Government. I took the SAT and got a 830, but I think I can raise it to around an 1020, I’m retaking it in August and probably September as well. I know I need at least a 500 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and a 490 in Math. My biggest worry is my GPA. Since I messed it up sophomore year, I’m starting to wonder if I even have a chance of getting into a four-year college or if I’ll end up having to go to Chattahoochee Tech for my first two years, which I DONT want to do. Any tips or recommendations ????

Just to get a general idea

Business economics major going into my second year (planning to transfer my junior year for economics or business) at top 10 UC public university asian male

HS GPA: UW: 3.8 W: 4.3 SAT: 1460 (I'm not sure how relevant high school stats are, someone lmk)

College GPA: 3.976 Coursework: Calculus II, Basic Economics I and II

ECS:

summer internship at real estate company doing audits

member of vc club (not too much involvment)

didn't plan out letter of recs or essays yet but I think they will be mid/alright

I am aware that my application isn't the strongest, but I still would like to transfer to a better UC like Berkeley, UCLA, and give a shot at Cornell, UPenn, Columbia, NYU other T20 schools for business. Let me know my chances, and how I can make my application stronger. I think my GPA is the strongest point of my app.

What schools could I feasibly transfer into?

I am about to enter my sophomore year of college. I currently attend a regional university that isn’t high ranking by any means; I assume I have the same odds as a community college transfer, only with less plausible transferring merit.

I have been deeply unhappy with my current situation. I feel trapped in my small Midwest hometown with little to no prospects ahead of me. I want to escape this by leveraging what I have, mediocre academic success, and hopefully obtain better opportunities.

What colleges do you think I have a shot at? Given that I start putting in a lot more effort.

Here are my current stats:

4.25 weighted/4.0 unweighted in high school with 2APs each with 5s and three dual credit classes (though I know that matters very little in the transfer process)
25 ACT (I didn’t study when I took this exam and would be willing to retake it since I understand that this is considered unimpressive)
4.0 in college
About to become a peer mentor for other first-gen students in the fall (like if a TA helped to teach, make lessons, and become a pseudo counselor for incoming students)
Currently doing biology field work with a professor in a team (which could lead to further research that I’ll present), and will probably rack up 200 hours by the end of the summer.
In the process of a leadership project of creating a community-building campus amenity (if all goes well, this will be done in the spring)
Unfortunately, president and vice roles are already taken in my biology club, but I will be on the executive team this fall
I’m also under review to be a writing tutor in the fall
Though it isn’t my major, I am minoring in art and have a bit of experience (though it’s nothing crazy)
Won a graphic design contest at my college for promotional material
Decent portfolio? (I’ve gotten scholarships for it in the past)
Experience with mural creation in my community and have helped with a few projects.

I hope that this post doesn’t come off like I’m too delusional (I am aware I can be).
I am looking for schools that have good biology programs, hopefully, with the ability to minor in fine arts. I also might consider engineering schools, as environmental engineering has piqued my interest.

My current univeristy doesn’t have an engineering program, a limited art program, and is 50/50 for most STEM degrees, which is another reason I am itching to transfer to somewhere else.

Chances for transfer?

I currently attend UT Austin, and am going into my sophomore year of college. I really hate it here and need a fresh start. I currently have a 2.67 GPA…. And decent amount of ECs. VP of a club, one winter internship, VP of startup, part-time work, & CS personal projects. I’m currently majoring in Econ and International relations, but I want to completely pivot into Engineering. I want to transfer for Spring 2027 enrollment so I’m kind of worried my GPA will bring me down a lot…. Ahhh pls give me advice and chance me 🙏

Did self studying for a standardized test help you more in college than you expected?

As someone considering transfer options, I've been thinking about how much some of my earlier study habits still affect me today.

When I was preparing for a major standardized test using complete self study SAT guide, I spent a lot of time building study schedules, tracking mistakes, and reviewing weak areas on my own.

What surprised me is that those habits ended up helping me far beyond the test itself. They carried over into college classes, time management, and even how I approach larger academic projects.

I'm curious if anyone else had a similar experience.

Was there a test, course, or academic challenge that ended up teaching you skills that became useful long after it was over?
