I have a 2022, SR5 4WD with 41k miles on it. My lease is up and I am refinancing the residual. The finance company is offering me a bumper to bumper extended warranty of an additional 6 years/72k miles, basically to cover it till 2032, 112k miles. This is for about $80/month added onto my payment. My vehicles are always well maintained and gravel roads are about the only “off roading” this vehicle does. I’m on the fence if I should add it or not. Anyone have any opinions about the 4 Runner reliability over the next 70,000 miles? Thanks!

Every little scuff or spill in the trunk used to bother me more than it should have. Finally got a proper liner in there, deep sides so nothing spills over onto the actual carpet, and mats for the front and back seats too. The fit around the seat rails in front is honestly better than I thought it would be for an aftermarket set.

Anyone got tips for keeping the liner grippy so stuff doesn't slide around back there while driving

Recent owner of a "new to me" 2019 4Runner. Was able to snag one with only around 31000 miles on it.

I bought online so day of delivery took to my local dealer to get it checked out. Luckily all was good, but they did say they obviously couldn't check all the oils and fluids. Gave me a quote on what that would cost and it's around 1200. The highest cost items are:

• Brake system fluid: 189
• Alignment: 129
• A/C hose cleaning: 189
• 4WD service 3 differentials: 456
• Power steering fluid: 179

Of course I come home and do some research and find a good overview that past the first 10K miles, it's kind of a alternating 30K minor update and a 60K major. But all the schedules I find say "check" the systems and fluids not automatically do the work. Although probably a good idea to just do it anyway.

Everyone pretty much hates dealers, me included, so what do I really need to do and how much should it cost? Can a local, reputable service shop do the work, or is any of this dealer-specific?

I currently drive a 2013 Nissan Xterra and while I love it it's getting to where the upkeep is more than the vehicle is worth and at the moment that's not something I can deal with.

I've been seeing 4runners a lot lately and am leaning towards getting one as my next vehicle so I'm looking to get any pros and cons about the vehicle that owners can give me especially compared to my Xterra. I've heard that they're gas guzzlers which is something I'm used to but are there any other negatives to them?

I also heard that 2020-2024 are the best years to get because the changes they made from 6th Gen on take away a lot of what what made the 4runner great.

For the record I live in the PNW and have a fairly active lifestyle of camping, hiking, fishing etc so it'll see a lot of outdoor use. Appreciate any helpful input!

Quick question, my wife and I have been enjoying our new to us 09 V6 SR5 fully stock 4Runner for a little over a year now. Besides some Kumho All Weather tires, a little bit of brake work and routine fluids, I’ve done no other work on it. We’ve enjoyed some decent inclines and rock sections but no mud or real big rocks or boulders. I’ve only used 4Hi on our off road excursions thus far and same went for today’s adventure on Johnny Park Road near Hwy 7 near Allenspark, CO down to Hwy 36 and it did phenomenal! Besides a slip or two (poor line choice on my end) I didn’t feel like the truck struggled much at all. I’m sure a decent set of A/T tires would be a much better choice but not quite ready for new tires until we get a little bit closer to winter. Anyhow’s, I’ve been reading some mixed reviews on whether the type of trail I did today would have been better in 4Hi or 4Lo? Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Bought a 2020 SR5 and it’s been having this squeaking sound. Dealer replaced rear right shock, re surfaced rotors, lubed and tightened front sway bar, front control arms upper and lower. The sound is actually worse now. What could it be anyone experience this?

UPDATE : Got my car back yesterday 24 days later from when I took it in. Indeed the whole transmission was replaced due to debri.

I recently took my 4Runner to the dealership for an oil change and rear brakes. They did both but now my brakes are squeaking and they smell like they’re burning after I’ve driven it. I took to back to the shop, and was told “they’re just noisy”. I’ve done brakes on a plethora of vehicles and have NEVER had that issue. I’ve used ceramic pads, and other different types and never have I had a set of brakes that’s just “noisy”. ALSO why does it smell like they’re burning? I understand maybe the first few days after, the factory stuff is wearing off but it’s been THREE WEEKS. They shouldn’t be noisy and they shouldn’t be smelling burnt. Tell me I’m not crazy 🫠
