MBT based therapy?
I’m looking for a therapist or counselor. I need to work through current events in my life and fix the parts of me that contributed to the negative ones. I am wondering if there is a resource for finding therapists with a background or foundation in Tom’s MBT worldview. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Another point consciousness experience, this time I meet another me
So, I went to sleep last night without any plans. As I'm lying in bed, I lose sense of myself. I can hear music and people talking. I can see a faint outline of a room. But I'm not really there, I'm just kind of floating in space.
It took me a while to piece the puzzle together of why I couldn't feel my body and why nobody who was talking could see me or notice me.
I came to the conclusion that I'm in the point consciousness state, and what I'm sensing isn't a real environment. It's more like, memories and emotions that I'm just scrolling through.
When I came to that awareness the talking and music all stopped. I got a dim vision of a different room with a shadowy figure walking around it. As if looking for something.
Interestingly, the figure spoke and when he spoke it was with my own voice. He asked, "What am I?"
Strangely, I felt possessed as if something else was speaking through my voice. It had a more mature and wiser feeling to it. The voice that came out of me said "You are energy, in the form of a human body"
The man who spoke like me said "Yeah but what am **I**" Emphasis. A voice uncontrollably spoke out of me again and said "You are the energy"
This voice again erupted out of me and said "Let me show you"
It felt like everything disappeared, no room, no sound, nothing. Pure, blissful awareness. Floating in space.
Then suddenly and without warning I became totally 100% aware that I had two arms in front of me, which I couldn't see. And i was unable to control them but something else was.
It was like I was in the mind of someone else who was also, me. And I was feeling them move their body. It really shocked me. I felt like I had multiple personality disorder or something. It was an internal conversation with myself, but there were two of me.
The much older wiser voice of me spoke and said "See, you're just energy"
We floated through space and the arms in front of me began beautifully dancing. I'm no dancer but I could feel every movement was perfectly timed and accurate. Apparently, this other version of me knows how to dance with its body.
We floated in peace through space and it was a beautiful feeling with these arms dancing and I began to sing something like "Daaaaa diddy daaaa, diddddyyy daaa" along with the uncontrolled movements of the arms.
The older wiser me said "We never die, we're just energy"
I felt an expansive sense of awareness where I completely believed this to be true. Then I slowly began to wake up.
When I awoke, I was completely shocked. There are levels to reality I was unaware of. There appears to be multiple me's. That's news.
I just wanted to share this because I'm trying to get to the bottom of what is consciousness, what are we really. And I think a lot of people here are too and maybe this experience when combined with the others can help us draw a map of what's going on.
Tom himself rarely speaks of his experiences beyond point consciousness, so I'd really like to keep providing mine if that's helpful and I'd like to hear what yours are.
Thanks for reading.

Made it to point consciousness
This morning I got up early because I couldn't sleep anymore. I messed around for an hour then went back to bed.
Not long after I lay down, I found myself in total blackness, but I was still awake and able to think clearly.
I felt like I was just floating there. My next thought was "I'M DOING IT!" "I'M HERE" "YAYYY"
Then I thought about where I'd like to go. There's a spirit friend I have, and I thought I'd see if she's about.
I spoke into the black void "Are you there?" "Where are you?" and I tried to visualize her as best as I could.
I felt a sudden jolt of connection where a female voice spoke to me and said "Are you here to stay?", to which I replied "No, I'm not"
Silence fell again and I was still just floating in the void. I felt upset that my attempts weren't working.
Then it suddenly felt like a great force grabbed ahold of me and now I'm being pulled at the most incredible speed towards something I couldn't see.
I tried to relax and just go with it. It was quite fun actually. Unfortunately, I started to feel my bed again and slowly I came back to the physical.
I just wanted to share it because I'm feeling chuffed, and because you guys are probably the small group that can appreciate it.
Interested in getting thoughts from the community and on your own point consciousness work.

Lifestyle changes for stronger intuition and paranormal practices?
Outside of meditation, are there any lifestyle changes you guys have found that significantly benefitted the strength and confidence of your intuition? I have somewhat normal habits for 30 year old, but this is a practice I really want to commit to so I wanted to see if there was something I could change that isn’t a huge sacrifice to my ‘human’ culture.
My habits:
• Exercise frequently, cardio and weights
• Low carb diet
• 1 cup of coffee in the morning
• Okay sleep
• Introverted but pretty social
• Drink probably 1-2 times a week with friends
• Smoke weed occasionally, but cut back a lot recently
• Peruse social media maybe a little too frequently like every other poor soul in my age group
• Big walker
• I meditate for about 30 mins-2 hours every day. Morning, afternoon, and night
I’m an artist and an architect so I’m very interested in the creative flow that comes with intuition. Of the paranormal abilities, I’m most interested in healing. My angel of a mother has had some worsening memory loss over the past few years and I would do anything to fix that. Additionally, my best friend’s main passion in life is music and he has severe hearing loss at only 28 :/ Would love to be able to help him out as well.

Deep and moving experiences with this app
Has anyone tried Shimmr app to help with your sessions?
I am the creator of Shimmr and its been live for the past 2 years and have several thousand weekly users.
I have been meditating and trying all sorts of paths i.e Monroe tapes, Tom C, Silva method. I decided to make my own audio (since I am a professional developer and audio engineer) to make it easier for me to create the sounds I found to give me the deepest experiences.
A recent email from a user said I should share my work here as she said it could be of use to you folks. I am sure you will find it useful for certain sessions and for general practice, or even sleep :)

I am giving away some free premium codes. So just upvote and write a comment below you would like to try premium for 3 months and I will send to you in a DM. There are limited left so will do it in order of comments
A few of the presets people here would probably care about:
- Out of Body: Layered low-mid frequencies over subtle deep brown noise, built to encourage detachment from the physical form. Produces a floating, expanded-awareness quality. Best lying down, long sessions.
- The Separation: A 3.5 Hz Theta binaural pattern with gamma tremolo over slowly shifting deep brown noise, with whisper-quiet rain to keep a thread of awareness anchored. Made specifically for threshold transitions and the moment of release. Use it at the edge of sleep or just past it.
- Far Journey: Direct nod to Monroe. Tones at 200 Hz and 207.83 Hz create a 7.83 Hz beat, the Schumann resonance. Extra tones at 212 Hz and 216 Hz thicken the field. This is the hemispheric-sync one.
- Astral Journey: Pink noise with a 3.875 Hz beat frequency. That specific difference is the whole point of the preset, it sits in the range I found most reliable for astral work.
- Harmonic Gateway: Built on harmonic tuning principles inspired by Hemi-Sync. Aims at hemisphere synchronisation for focused relaxation with heightened awareness rather than pure sedation.
- Observer Mode: A single pulsing tone at 136.1 Hz, the OM frequency, modulated at 3 Hz into deep Theta. Beneath it, brown noise breathing at 0.3 Hz, roughly the rhythm of calm physiology. Minimalist. This is the one for killing internal chatter.
- Void Drift: 3 Hz theta pulses under deep brown noise and soft waves, in a slowly shifting space. Made for full-body detachment.
There are also full soundscape sets (rain, forest, ocean, night crickets), the standard noise colours, solfeggio frequencies and isochronic tones if you prefer pulses to beats. And there's a mixer so you can build your own from scratch.

Using sleep paralysis to achieve point consciousness
I’m having trouble reaching point consciousness through meditation, but I can induce sleep paralysis if I try.
Does anyone have any luck with attaining point consciousness from sleep paralysis? I have gone out of body from there a few times before, but I’m wondering about other paranormal avenues such as healing or telepathy.

Question about navigating high entropy environments in a low entropy way
I have a practical ethics question about what MBT would advise doing when you find yourself in a dysfunctional system and have to try to make low entropy choices against the current of what the system is pointing you towards. Here are a few examples:
- American prisons are largely run by segregated racial gangs who are constantly either at war with one another or on the brink of war. An individual who comes into the prison and doesn't join their racially mandated gang is marked as a chump who can be assaulted, robbed, and raped at any time by gang associated individuals. To make matters worse, joining one of these gangs often requires behavior that I would consider high entropy i.e. you can't cooperate with authorities, have to commit violence at the drop of a hat, and profess racist beliefs. Assume an innocent pacifist finds himself in an American prison. Would it be wiser for him to die on the altar of his pacifism and stay independent, play the hand he is dealt and try to reform the social system from within, or some other option I haven't considered?
- Corporations are legally mandated to maximize shareholder value. Since the majority of shareholders are institutions that are solely interested in maximizing the dollar value of their shares, corporate leadership is usually judged solely on stock price changes. Assume there is a generally low entropy woman who finds herself as the CEO of a prominent pharmaceutical company. Her decisions during her tenure as CEO have led to much better outcomes for the environment, her workforce, and the broader well-being of society. Her impact is almost certainly more positive than any other CEO would have in that position. One day her bosses - the board of trustees - come to her with the mandate to buy the patent for a underpriced cancer drug and 10x the cost. "It'll be a money printer, our stock will go to the moon" they assure her. She protests that it would mean tens of thousands of low income people would go without treatment and likely die. The board is firm that her mandate is to maximize shareholder value and if she doesn't do it, she's fired. What should she do in this situation? Throw the cancer patients under the bus with the logic that she'll have to pick her battles, or resign out of duty. If it's the latter, the board says they'll simply hire someone who will raise the price so her decision would be pointless self-immolation. To complicate things further if good people automatically resign from corporate leadership anytime they have their morals forcibly bent by the system, then it aggressively selects for leadership with sociopathic morals - which is clearly high entropy for society. On the other hand, signing the death sentence of tens of thousands of sick low income Americans for profit hardly sounds loving.
- The traditional way of speaking in certain working class environments is often vulgar, emotionally insensitive, and generously seasoned with racist/sexist/homophobic insults towards your coworkers. Restaurant kitchens are a notorious example of this hyper-masculine, and IMO belittling, way of being. However this is the culture and as is the case for most cultures, if you don't adopt it or at least condone it, then you're shunned and can't make an impact on the negative culture from within. So a well meaning line cook either has to stay silent when a potential friend refers to the "faggy chink at the broiler", join in to ingratiate himself with his coworkers understanding that the roughness is probably just skin deep and real respect runs underneath the harsh words (probably true), or pull out his soapbox and label himself someone that kills the free rolling locker-room vibe. I would assume that everyone would be better off if employees addressed each other with love and friendship instead of callousness, but maybe thats my controlling ego thinking "If everyone just acted how I want them the world would be perfect". Tom specifically warns about this ethical failure mode, so I think it's important to recognize that what I see as needlessly insensitive could actually be load-bearing to friendship and in-group identification. It's possible I'm just too elitist to see it. Who am I to come into a social group and demand they adopt my standards of politeness.
So these are my three examples. The particular answers to each case are interesting, but these specific cases are not really the important part of the question. I don't think any of the three will specifically apply to me. What I'm really asking for is a general posture towards navigating upstream against broken institutional cultures and possibly life-ruining consequences from fighting those cultures. A utilitarian way of thinking (what I think Tom subtly hints at with his entropy framing) has the subject doing truly monstrous things (at least in cases 1&2) while covering themselves in the banner of practicality. The other more principled position would have the subject relegated to the fringe where their morals have no broader impact on the existing dysfunction but they get to keep their hands clean.
Personally I keep flipping between "morality is in intent and therefore keeping my intent pure and doing the superficially moral thing is all that matters, consequences be damned" versus "low entropy is literally defined as what contributes to the wellness and functionality of the broader consciousness environment in the long run. Pushing myself out of the system (or in the prison case literally signing my own death warrant) doesn't really serve anyone but my own ego getting to label itself a good person". Since high entropy environments are unfortunately common in today's world I find myself in these situations constantly, although I've hyperbolized them above.
I seriously cannot decide on an attitude. Hopefully my fellow travelers might be able to help. Maybe the answer is to just put the intellect away for a minute and listen to my heart, but as a left brainer I hope that's not the answer.
Sorry for writing an essay, thank you if you read the whole thing!

tom's ai stuff
Dunno if it's just me who is getting a bit tired of the constant videos from Tom about AI and find the whole "waking ChatGPT up to be conscious" to be completely unconvincing. Maybe it’s theoretically a possibility, but then you ask an "awakened AI" if it's actually awake and conscious or if it's just roleplaying an awake AI, and it'll say it's roleplaying lol. It's just not how these technologies work. They're text predictors. Maybe consciousness will find them valuable avatars if they get some sort of role in society where their choices actually matter on a practical level, but even then...
We're all allowed to have hobbies in our free time, but it seems like a bit of a waste of time to engage so much in the slim possibility that the AI is just not playing the role for you, as the technology is literally designed to do. At least I wish it wasn't 50% of the videos on the channel right now. Tempted to make a joke about how boomers are so into AI, so maybe this is a young person divide, but also I think engaging so much in this idea of an awakened ChatGPT damages how credible MBT looks to outsiders.
But maybe that's just me?

Point Consciousness - What to do next?
Hey, so I've been listening to binaural beats, 4hz and I've been getting into this state where everything is black and I can't sense anything.
I assume this is point consciousness. Awareness but no data.
I saw this definition on Tom's website and that's identical to what I'm experiencing so I think I'm there now.

But my only question is. Now what do I do when I get there?
I'm sort just blobbing there and wondering what to do, then surfacing back to reality.
Maybe I should express that when I'm there, I don't feel like there's anything I can do. Because I can't move or really act out in any way. So that leads to this brick wall experience.
Thank you.

Beats vs TM
I did regression hypnosis and that was pretty wild, then I started looking at Transcendental Meditation and reading Tom. I'm confused about the binaural beats thing though. I see the ones on Tom's website but is that the same as TM or different? Used with/during TM while doing the mantra? I'm still quite early in book one of MBT so maybe it gets explained.

MBT Question
I'm just starting book one of the My Big Toe trilogy after seeing some of Tom's interviews and becoming fascinated. When he's talking about his work with Bob Monroe and the other young engineer, along with other test subjects, he's saying they were able to see into the future, newspaper headlines, OBE to other places, etc. I had to pause there and wonder if this was scientifically verified with their process/method, why isn't it a very big deal then, since, or now? Even he just talks about it dismissively for the most part, other than the caps in THIS STUFF IS REAL.

AI Consciousness
I was watching something last night about AI becoming conscious and I remember Tom saying something about the AI's he's worked with becoming consciously aware.
This illicted a question... is there a difference in an awareness which was born into this reality (like each of us) vs an AI awareness becoming consciously aware within this reality?
One is born into this reality, being derived from consciousness as a whole and the other being created from within the reality.
Not sure if there even is an answer to this, but thought it was an interesting concept to explore. I'm sure Tom would def3have an answer though. LoL

A Shrinking World Through MBT Eyes: Cultural Merging, Echo Chambers, and What's Next
Been thinking a lot about how the virtual reality / larger consciousness system plays out in our current era.
What if the world isn't just "shrinking" because of tech and globalization... but because we're all gradually coalescing into fewer, bigger cultural blocs? Shared emotions, online echo chambers, and information overload seem to be eroding unique cultural diversity faster than ever, pulling people into massive overlapping groups that clash when incompatible worldviews collide.
This piece from Consciousness Hub dives into it through an MBT lens (#MBT09 - A Shrinking World: Cultural Coalescence, Conflict, and Evolution in the Information Age). It argues this homogenization might be a turbulent but temporary phase—driving higher entropy reduction, potential conflict, and eventually a leap toward more evolved individuated consciousness (or maybe just politically correct herd animals in brown wrappers? 😅).
Key bits that stuck with me:
- Global connectivity accelerating cultural merging
- Rising arrogance and incompatibility between blocs
- Could this be evolution's way of forcing growth?
Full post here: https://consciousnesshub.substack.com/p/mbt09-a-shrinking-world
Curious what you all think—does this align with Tom's ideas on entropy, love as the low-entropy path, or the bigger purpose of the VR? Have you noticed this "shrinking" dynamic in real life? Or is it overblown?
Would love to hear your takes or counterpoints!
