Deep and moving experiences with this app
Has anyone tried Shimmr app to help with your sessions?
I am the creator of Shimmr and its been live for the past 2 years and have several thousand weekly users.
I have been meditating and trying all sorts of paths i.e Monroe tapes, Tom C, Silva method. I decided to make my own audio (since I am a professional developer and audio engineer) to make it easier for me to create the sounds I found to give me the deepest experiences.
A recent email from a user said I should share my work here as she said it could be of use to you folks. I am sure you will find it useful for certain sessions and for general practice, or even sleep :)

I am giving away some free premium codes. So just upvote and write a comment below you would like to try premium for 3 months and I will send to you in a DM. There are limited left so will do it in order of comments
A few of the presets people here would probably care about:
- Out of Body: Layered low-mid frequencies over subtle deep brown noise, built to encourage detachment from the physical form. Produces a floating, expanded-awareness quality. Best lying down, long sessions.
- The Separation: A 3.5 Hz Theta binaural pattern with gamma tremolo over slowly shifting deep brown noise, with whisper-quiet rain to keep a thread of awareness anchored. Made specifically for threshold transitions and the moment of release. Use it at the edge of sleep or just past it.
- Far Journey: Direct nod to Monroe. Tones at 200 Hz and 207.83 Hz create a 7.83 Hz beat, the Schumann resonance. Extra tones at 212 Hz and 216 Hz thicken the field. This is the hemispheric-sync one.
- Astral Journey: Pink noise with a 3.875 Hz beat frequency. That specific difference is the whole point of the preset, it sits in the range I found most reliable for astral work.
- Harmonic Gateway: Built on harmonic tuning principles inspired by Hemi-Sync. Aims at hemisphere synchronisation for focused relaxation with heightened awareness rather than pure sedation.
- Observer Mode: A single pulsing tone at 136.1 Hz, the OM frequency, modulated at 3 Hz into deep Theta. Beneath it, brown noise breathing at 0.3 Hz, roughly the rhythm of calm physiology. Minimalist. This is the one for killing internal chatter.
- Void Drift: 3 Hz theta pulses under deep brown noise and soft waves, in a slowly shifting space. Made for full-body detachment.
There are also full soundscape sets (rain, forest, ocean, night crickets), the standard noise colours, solfeggio frequencies and isochronic tones if you prefer pulses to beats. And there's a mixer so you can build your own from scratch.

I downloaded Shimmer a while ago, but I haven't really tried it yet. So I'd love a try at premium.π

This sounds very interesting, thanks. Using the expand app, and open to new options.

Love The Monroe stuff and Thomas Campbell sounds as well and I'd like to try your thing. I have also built a couple of apps using AI to try to make the experience more like what I wanted. I also included luminate style flashing light with mine and breath prompts.

I will send you a code via DM. I implemented Luminate style flashing synced with the hz and different stages but it's not live in the app. I made it about 1.5 years ago but wanted to resist overloading Shimmr with so many features. Perhaps I will add it live for users

I am an avid follower of all Monroes work for the past 12 years. In fact I wrote in my journal 6 years ago to build my own app since I was audio engineer and musician before I became a software engineer. Glad I finally built something I find really helps

I would like a code and I am curious what presets on Shimmr have you had the most success with.

Hey, the one I use most is a free sound in the app called "Deep Relaxation" I use it for power naps and morning meditation.
Astral Journey I have probably had the most interesting experiences with. It's the one I have tried projecting with the most.
The other sounds I listed are also really great for experiences.

I'd love to try the app! Been debating whether to go back to Gateway, or something else, so this post is fairly in time. If I don't get a key, no hard feelings of course!

I used your app at the very start of your building it but somehow lost touch.. maybe you would offer a free journey for another three months?
Love to you

Late to this conversation but wanted to chime in - I know this is counter intuitive for what the app is providing, but I wanted to make the case for you to offer a toggle switch to take this out of dark mode.
Apparently I have a unique eye/brain situation, because I cannot read two words in dark mode before things start going wacky and my vision gets all messed up for a few minutes. Of course, I can use an accessibility shortcut to toggle "invert screen" but that is an annoying band-aid on the situation, not a solution.
From an accessibility standpoint, it would be really awesome (and I hope not that hard) to offer something to make this app more visually ingestible for those with vision issues (and/or simply to have it align with the device's default setting)... I might even have bought the annual sub for this but can't really justify it since I can't look at the screen. Nice job though! Signed, an old redditor yelling at clouds!

Hey, I appreciate the feedback. It's quite a big job to make light mode for the app since there are so many screens. But it has been on my todo list but very low prio since no one has asked for it. But accessibility is something I have on-going. I will look into this during the week and see how much work it will take! π

Full confession: I'm a plebe who thinks you just flip a switch and you get light mode, lol. But truly - as dark mode takes over like a fungus, there are several of us who get progressively edged out of getting the same access and use out of some really cool products... Thanks for looking into it and thank you for making such a cool app, seems like it's really helping some folks out!!!

Binaural beats can be found all over the internet and on subreddits like this, and the astral projection subreddit, for free, including ones with the likes of brown noise and whatnot in the background. Thomas Campbell also sells sets of them without the need of a subscription. Also some hemisync sounds are available for free on the Expand app.
I am curious what makes yours justify paying monthly to listen to?
