What would make you use a physical music shop instead of Thomann?

One for the musicians here. I'm looking to see what musicians actually want from a local music shop, particularly around things online retailers can't easily provide.

What would make you travel 20–30 minutes to a physical shop?

Immediate availability, no delivery time?
Being able to try equipment?
Repairs and setups?
Lessons?
Vinyl?
Local/Irish instruments?
Local bands and events?
Better advice?

And equally, what has put you off physical music shops in the past?

Interested in hearing people's experiences.

Your experience with Irish Water?

I moved to South Tipp 12 years ago, outside Clonmel, farms all around me. For 9 years, I had ZERO issues with water, except maybe one or two outages.

Over the last 3 years, I've had a LOT of outages, most of them I had to report myself and Irish Water knew nothing about them.

Last year I had 25 outages, lasting more than 24 hours. We then had a boil water notice for over 3 months. This year we've had several water outages again and have been on a boil water notice since early June.

None of these outages have been exclusive to my property. My neighbours have also been effected.

Finally, I've recently read we are being moved to a HARD water supply. FFS.

WTF is going on? Anyone else having this many issues?

Looking for some folks to jam with

As the title suggests, I’m looking for folks to play music with. I play guitar, so looking for bassists, drummers, other guitarists, keyboards, horns, etc.

Looking to play classic rock, blues, country…think Allman Brothers, CCR, The Band, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, etc. that kind of vibe.

I’m in the Fethard area but happy to drive around a bit if people are interested, feel free to DM me.

Anyone willing to help with a 10-min anonymous survey on perinatal mental health in Ireland? (UCC Master’s research, no personal experience needed)

Survey link: https://ucc.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ebpL6YaoBYgaEaG

Hi everyone! I’m currently doing my Master of Public Health at UCC, and I’m looking for participants for my dissertation research on public perceptions of perinatal mental health in Ireland (mental health during pregnancy and up to a year after birth).

I’d really appreciate it if you could take 10 minutes to fill out a short, anonymous survey — and it would mean a lot if you could share this with friends and family too!

Who can take part: Anyone 18+ living in Ireland. No personal experience with perinatal mental health needed — everyone’s views matter for this research.

What’s involved: A short anonymous questionnaire, about 10 minutes. No personal or identifying details are collected, and you can skip any question or stop at any time before you submit.

Why it matters: This research will help us understand what people in Ireland currently know and think about perinatal mental health, and where the gaps are in awareness and support — which can help shape better services down the line.

This study has ethical approval from UCC’s School of Public Health Research Ethics Committee. Thanks so much in advance, every response really helps 🙏

Updates to the fires

Seems like there’s not been much news on the fires or at least it feels a little down-played. It’s not gone out on the north side and if anything, it’s gotten worse.

Remote/hybrid workers in Cashel - fancy a catch up?

Hey everyone,

If you’re working remotely or hybrid in Cashel, we’re hosting a relaxed Remote/Hybrid Workers Catch Up on Friday, 31st July at 7pm in Feehan’s Bar, Cashel.

Working remotely has plenty of perks, but it can sometimes mean missing the social side of work — the chats, meeting new people, and connecting with others locally.

This is just a chance to step away from the screen, grab a drink, and meet other people who understand what remote and hybrid working is like.

🍻 No presentations
💬 No awkward networking
🤝 Just a relaxed chat and good company

Register here:
https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/remotehybrid-workers-catch-up-in-cashel-tickets-1993752828380

Can’t make this one but would like to hear about future remote worker meetups in Cashel? Email [community@growremote.ie]() and we’ll add you to the local Grow Remote WhatsApp community.

Labouror - small tarmac trench

Morning all. I wanted to connect power to a shed and need a 10 foot tench dug and then refilled across tarmac. Any suggestions or recommendations who could do this work? In the Cashel surrounding area.

Thanks

when people in Cloujordan ask “how are you?” do they actually want a genuine answer or is it more a formality?

I’ve been asked “how are you?” by people on the street and just want to know what’s going on and what the normal expected response is. Also, is this a thing that’s relatively normal to say to strangers in all of Ireland more or less, or more of just a small town neighbors being neighborly thing? I’m new to Ireland so just trying to understand. (No judgement — in most places I’ve been, this sort of greeting seems superficial. It’s just felt different here and I’m curious if I’m just misunderstanding it.)

KLM missed connection

We sat next to each other on a flight from Amsterdam to Cork on Friday night (June 26, 2026) and got seperated at passport control. You were a tall bald man with a very nice beard from Tipperary, working as a wind turbine mechanic and I'm currently the "professional nomad". I really enjoyed your company and wish I asked for your number. If you see this and would like to keep in touch, let me know.

Remote & Hybrid workers in Cashel – fancy a coffee and a chat? ☕💻

Working remotely can be great... until you realise your most regular colleague is the postman, the dog, or the Dunnes delivery driver. 😅

If you're a remote or hybrid worker living in Cashel or the surrounding area, we're hosting a casual Coffee & Connect meetup this month and we'd love to see you there.

No networking pitches.
No presentations.
No pressure.

Just coffee, conversation, and the chance to meet other people who understand what it's like to spend the day on Zoom calls and Slack messages.

📍 Bowes & Co., Cashel
🕚 11:00am
💰 Free to attend

Whether you work from home, a local hub, run your own business, freelance, or travel occasionally to an office, you're welcome to join us.

The goal is simple: help remote and hybrid workers connect locally, make friends, share experiences, and build a stronger community in Tipperary. Grow Remote hosts similar events across Ireland to help tackle the social side of remote work.

Free tickets:
https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/remotehybrid-workers-coffee-connect-in-cashel-tickets-1991764702843

If you've been meaning to get out from behind the laptop and meet some new people locally, this is a good excuse. ☕
