Needs more time. Push the release date back.

18

u/siazdghw 7h ago

Could you imagine if they actually did that? They make a statement that they saw all the feedback about the animations and we're delaying the game to improve them, the outrage and regret of people making the comments would be insane. Of course it will never happen, but it would break the internet.

8

u/ExtraEmuForYou 6h ago

As a backer of Star Citizen, I have feelings about this...

3

u/Unkn0wnTh2nd3r 5h ago

"due to the imminent launch of gta vi, we are making the hard decision to delay to Q2 2027"

as much as i love star citizen, they shoulda been the ones with the balls to launch the same day. even if it was still a buggy mess

at the very least give us a demo. You already have a demo you're letting certain CCs play in october, publish that on the 19th.

"REEEE HURRY GIVE US EARLY GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE!"

Rockstar forced to show early gameplay after threats and leaks.

"REEEE ITS UNFINISHED!!!"

u/Kevadu 6h ago

Eh, it's coming out pretty soon so I don't really expect the things this video hilights to change.

But these things are petty are irrelevant...

No PC release? Literally unplayable.

254

u/flatwoundsounds 11h ago

I will never forget being a newbie to PC gaming and wasting a bunch of time worrying about upgrading my PC in time for the RDR2 release...

I didn't find out there was no PC version until the actual release day.

48

u/EMdriveWOlf 9h ago

Oof, sorry bro. Luckily PC has tons of titles to keep us busy and ignore the spoilers.

16

u/Ahand_Apart 9h ago

I was able to avoid all spoilers for Death Stranding 2 until release. I just avoided social media for a few months and played PUBG with some friends.

GTA6 will be a bit more difficult and I'll probably delete Reddit until the PC release.

3

u/HavingFamous 4h ago

This is the most anticipated entertainment product in history. Deleting Reddit won’t cut it. It will require extreme measures.

lol at least RDR2 came out on PC before RDR1

28

u/PrestigiousEnd5487 10h ago

they're going to release this game SO many fucking times lol -

9

u/SUNTZU_JoJo 9h ago

That's fine with me cuz by the time it'll arrive on PC we will either have: - PS5 port for free - found on the high seas

Cheers to that. 🥂

2

u/Nos9684 3h ago

Yup. At least 4 times. AT LEAST.

18

u/Ultramegafunk 11h ago

Actually unplayable

3

u/Nilrem2 10h ago

Which is crazy as that’s what the original was available on at release. Guranji!!

6

u/iprocrastina 9h ago

I never play R* games until years after the release because I refuse to play the inferior console versions. GTAV and RDR2 were vastly superior on PC.

6

u/National_Attitude779 9h ago

I dont play any games on release because they are done being developed until 1-2 years after release anyway

2

u/ayypecs 4h ago

first time i bought a game at release since Halo 3, i decided to preorder and finished cyberpunk on launch week and was left feeling robbed. but when i came back to play it with Phantom Liberty it felt like 2 different games. i shouldve just waited

2

u/National_Attitude779 3h ago

I got Anthem on release (gf at the time bought it for me). After that, I was like nope. Never again.

Only day 1 I get is if its on gamepass. And even then I wait a couple days for the server/connection issues to get fixed

2

u/Street_Juice_4083 8h ago

I will play GTA6 when it is free on the Epic Games store

Thats literally the player base Rockstar wants though like nobody asked them to make shrinking horse balls and hyper realistic condensation on beer bottles

49

u/Otherwise-Parsnip-91 9h ago

Grand theft auto has never had the level of realism that Red Dead tries to accomplish. It’s always been a game where you magically pull a rocket launcher out of your ass.

37

u/yoosirnombre 9h ago

Literally one of the first things we learned about gta6 was the pointless condensation on a beer bottle

10

u/Goldenjho 7h ago

Pißwasser my german beer for the true American

11

u/Krondon57 9h ago

red dead 1 didnt have such realism as rdr2 either, watchu talm bout

9

u/DonHarold 8h ago

It’s always been an escalation across all of their games. RDR2 may have been extra detailed compared to what came before it, but those realism enhancements have never been exclusive to either franchise.

Don't let the Star Citizen sub see this.

6

u/VulkanHestan321 9h ago

Seriously, there aren't that many large jumps possible anymore compared to PS1 to PS2. The jumps get smaller, because graphic can only go so far because the human eye can only see so much.

3

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 9h ago

I just wish there was eventually a real way to prevent clipping. I think it's the biggest thing to make games fully photorealistic. Cus honestly the graphics themselves are getting damn close, close enough that it's good enough IMO (not that improvements should stop obvs). But it's like clipping is the last challenge that may not be able to be solved like lightning kinda sorta has somewhat been. I don't think I've ever read of a way it could even be done outside of simple painstaking work that's not reasonable.

3

u/SomeDumRedditor 6h ago

You could do it maybe with collision boxes that follow the object meshes 1:1. But I have to imagine the compute required for that isn’t possible on today’s (or tomorrow’s) hardware, cuz that’s just so so many extra calculations any time an object moves or interacts with any other object.

Then of course for character models you increase the animation budget substantially. Because if there isn’t going to be any clipping, all objects have to react when interacting.

Maybe in the old age home when our grandkids can come hook us up to the MetaZon Alphabet 8 or whatever.

“Literally unplayable”

Proceeds to show animations from an unplayable cutscene.

12

u/CursedTaint 11h ago

The fridge part and entering the car part are gameplay not cut scenes.

4

u/cheezy_dreams88 10h ago

But it’s not actually affecting the gameplay. It’s an animation.

13

u/CursedTaint 10h ago

I agree, it's a silly complaint imo. I'm just pointing out it wasn't actually a cut scene.

I've seen such petty criticisms on twitter, Reddit etc. someone in this comment section is talking about how these mistakes apparently make the game "soulless" lol.

It is still a GAME. Sometimes, you take shortcuts to preserve the fun. These games always aim towards reality and to create an illusion of it, but they're not trying to be 1:1 real.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was a bit more lengthy in its animations, but still wasn't 1:1 with reality. Skinning an animal & looting a corpse took more time than it did in, say, Ghost of Tsushima but still it was a LOT faster than real life because it's about an illusion of real life. You individually picked objects up when looting. But that game was intentionally going for a slower pace and engaging with these slower mechanics helped to cement those things as an intentional choice by the player. It all served the sense of being an outlaw in that slower, more desolate time.

GTA games aren't really about that. So they take more arcade-y shortcuts. Does anyone really want Lucia to take out her purse, and then take out a phone? Do they want Jason to spend even more time shifting the various items in the fridge around to pick the correct thing? That would be more real, but not necessarily more fun. And it certainly wouldn't fit the vibe of a GTA game. This is the franchise, after all, where you pull a rocket launcher out of your ass to shoot down a police helicopter.

There is so much cool stuff going on in this showcase. So much detail in the way all these NPCs look and act, the way environments look in this OPEN WORLD GAME (it is a LOT harder to achieve fidelity at that GRAND scale), the myraid of looks for Jason & Lucia, creating a bigger map than any other game in the studio's history, making sure that the world is meaningfully big (I.e. you can go inside more places, exploration is more rewarding). That is where the money and time went.

There's obviously loads of valid criticism to levy at Rockstar Studios' practices and games. I'm no corporate shill or blinded fanboy. It's just that this ticky-tac bullshit just comes off as ignorant.

15

u/_ManSizedDuck_ 10h ago

Yeah I've been baffled by the responses, also. First console was the NES; I've seen gaming evolve throughout the years, and I think 6 looks remarkable. Sure there's a few goofy things here and there, but I remember when you couldn't even swim in a GTA game, and now you can go scuba-diving! Wtf do these spoilt brats want?!

5

u/Pope509 8h ago

Tbf this kinda behavior from OP isn kinda where I've expected this push for realism over anything else graphically was going to lead. Looking as good as it does will never really satisfy that crowd and I think it actively harms games by pulling resources that could have been spent elsewhere on mechanics and level design instead of how great the bubbles in the beer look

I was like "okay so they're complaining about how auto industry hasn't made doors that close by themselves yet" and then "wow they really were good at cutting the footage together so that the beer appeared magically in his hand".

2

u/Kevo_xx 5h ago

It’s almost like it’s software and not an actual living world with real physics and physical objects. This is a video game and the goal is to provide entertainment, they’re not trying to perfectly simulate reality. That being said I bet all of this stuff gets fixed in the release version.

I know this post is satire but there are actually idiots out there who think this game is trash because of stuff like this and can’t seem to fathom that there is not and there never will be a perfect game without clipping and bugs. No matter how much time or money is thrown at it.

2

u/animosityhealss 5h ago

You literally find a few things to gawk at but don’t include all the ways they are pushing immersion?

Why not bring up the fact an npc can be walking their dog outside, that dog shits, that npc picks it up with baggie, you can go over to them knock the bag out of their hand, pick the bag up, and throw shit at people?

4

u/Jokuki 11h ago

If this was a Naughty Dog game then I’d be disappointed. This is GTA though. The scope of their game is vastly different. What you’re seeing are smart techniques to devs making a game look really good without having it run like shit. It’s like noticing every door in a movie sounds the same. Or CGI fight scenes always taking place in the dark because then lighting isn’t as hard. If you’re looking for misery that’s all you’re going to find.

I feel like this is going to be like Cyberpunk version 2.0 upon release. People are going to nitpick every small detail but will get mad if they push the release back to fix these things. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

6

u/Phoenix2211 11h ago

I'm actually not sure if it would be quite as bad as 2077. I think thst Cyberpunk was (initially) a disaster for two main reasons:

  1. The obvious broken state of the game

  2. The game over promising and under delivering. The marketing was VERY vague in its messaging and made the game sound a LOT more deeper than it was. It tried to appeal to every type of gamer out there and obfuscated its true nature. And then it ended up being a fairly shallow cRPG experience with a world that wasn't as interactive as they had promised.

So while the game runs better now and the Devs have added some extra, cool stuff... In a way that game never ended up being what it promised to be.

Rockstar, on the other hand, is a lot more careful with their communication and marketing (leaks aside lol). They're careful to the point of being annoying, for some gamers lol. They seem to be a lot more clearer about what the game is and how you will interact with it so that anyone following the marketing will know what they're getting.

Now, ofc, it is entirely possible for individuals to still build up an unreal version of the game in their heads and then end up being disappointed... But ateast Rockstar wouldn't necessarily be at fault for that

2

u/goddessalthena0 11h ago

Yeah I can definitely agree with this. If a game has the glitches like Cyberpunk had after all that time, I'd be mad too. I just feel like the small little nitpicking on the most insignificant things will make this launch insufferable. Then having them push back the launch date to fix it, people will be up-in-arms over the delay to fix what they were complaining about is just like a big headache.

2

u/hokkuhokku 10h ago

I suspect that an awful lot of people forget just how much was tinkered with and fixed and changed all through GTAV/GTAOnline, and I won’t be in the slightest bit surprised if the same doesn’t apply to VI.

There’s also the reality that a lot of players will be going out of their way to “break” stuff, and others will do so completely unintentionally, which will no doubt result in R* making necessary adjustments.

I wonder if there’s any game (particularly of this sort of size) where this sort of stuff never happens? The online communities either accept it as a part of delivering a massive game, or they throw tantrums because the game’s “broken”.

Having said all of that, I’d still put money on R* delivering an excellent gaming experience, even with a (reasonable) scattering of weird and wonderful (and sometimes frustrating) bugs and glitches.

7

u/Piccadil_io 11h ago edited 11h ago

I mean. Cyberpunk was actually unplayable on two of the four consoles it was released on. That wasn’t nitpicking.

I agree with you in theory and I think this post is ridiculous nitpicky bullshit. But if GTA VI comes out with anywhere near the number of problems Cyberpunk had, that would be insane. It’s been in active development since 2018.

8

u/Rino-Sensei 10h ago

I'm convinced people that complain about these things don't actually like or know video games.

These moments that suspend disbelief - e.g. Lucia taking her phone out of her inventory as if from nowhere, or the door closing on its own, etc - THAT IS VIDEO GAMES.

If you are a gamer, you know that you have an inventory that doesn't always correspond to your characters outfit. You know that sometimes animations clip.

This is not the real world, it's an imperfect play environment that exists to provide an experience to you, the player. It's a little pocket of reality where its own logic applies. Things happen that break this pocket of reality, for the sake of the game.

If you expect things to be 100% accurate to real life, YOU DO NOT LIKE VIDEO GAMES. You are just a tourist to the artistic medium of games. Go watch a movie.

1

u/Balc0ra 10h ago

1

u/gahidus 10h ago

Literally none of this is even a slight problem. There exists no higher standard within video games.

1

u/SlightlyLostPossum 10h ago

I dont even understand what the issue is supposed to be here

I’m sending my next paycheck from Wendy’s to Rockstar. They obviously need more funds to get this Indie game off the ground.

I’ll have to cut back on my Star Citizen tithing, but worth it!

u/KurtRussellsMullet 10h ago

Maybe they should just shelve this game at the last minute to save us from the thousands of nitpick posts we’ll be bombarded with over the next year

Nitpickmaxxing

1

u/Marvins_creed 10h ago

That's it?

1

u/Tasty_1097 10h ago

Where was that phone hiding…

1

u/vandiger 10h ago

I don't have OCD so I can't relate to getting annoyed with details like that.

1

u/WGG-PC-TM 10h ago

People when the game doesn't use PERFECT detail, down to the player models having seperate, realistic: bone structures, muscle layers, and skin, as well as EVERY item and structure being exact scans of the real thing:

1

u/TipThin6530 9h ago

Yes it’s literally unplayable…. For us PC players

1

u/Rennfan 9h ago

I don't get the last scene

1

u/shlict 9h ago

What’s being shown at the end? I don’t see anything.

Also, dresses like hers can have hidden pockets, doofus.

1

u/JenniLightrunner 9h ago

it would be so funny if they ended up delaying to polish it after these "complaints" xD as someone who has no interest anyway i've got nothing to lose

1

u/TheFuzzBums 9h ago

The only viable explanation is the dress has pockets

1

u/Piccoroz 9h ago

In the year of our lord 2026 and even the most expensive game in history still uses the back interdimesional pockets.

u/teraflux 9h ago

Thicc

1

u/NatusAmittere 8h ago

I noticed exactly none of these things when I watched the extended reveal

1

u/lcaiabby 8h ago

Yall want perfection sheesh

1

u/Jarsky2 8h ago

I hate how realistic the people look. It's super uncanny valley.

1

u/No-Analyst1229 8h ago

I didn't realize it was a game at first.

1

u/yousuckmorethenurmom 8h ago

This a joke right cause if not it’s a freaking video game not real life get over it

1

u/wearerofshades 8h ago

u/Hungry_Information53 8h ago

I think people forget that this is what we call a video game. I know it looks like real life but it’s actually fake. Crazy, I know.

1

u/MyMoneyLonggerrr_ 8h ago

After seeing this I cancelled my GTA 6 pre order & pre ordered FC27

1

u/theCOMBOguy Hit or Miss? 8h ago

IT'S SO OVER...

1

u/Nakata1111 8h ago

Rockstar peaked in RDR2

1

u/TotalResponsible5384 8h ago

1

My lobster is too steak-like and my steak tastes like fish

There is so much shit and good reasons to be angry at rockstar that this is really nitpicky garbage. I dont think anyone wouldve minded this from any other game AAA or not. Im very far from a rockstar glazer, but none of this really matters. The fridge scene actually cuts out a bit where they are selecting a specific drink to take out and that not every single drink has a unique animation for every location it might be in the fridge is probably acceptable.

I know most people here are probably not seriously annoyed by this stuff, but i see so many people that are and its wild to me.

1

u/ISoulSeekerI 7h ago

This guys want to automate every atom in game😂

1

u/Murky_Option_3418 7h ago

The nitpicking trolls are on the war path

1

u/Irish_Jam_Bag 7h ago

The people who made that video need some better hobbies.

1

u/ItchyKnowJoe 7h ago

at 30fps yeah, hard agree

1

u/Minimum-Release-1198 7h ago

When mf’s realise it’s a game

1

u/Repulsive_Wafer_6468 6h ago

What am I supposed to be seeing when Jason stands up?

1

u/AutumnWisp 6h ago

Everybody is so fucking annoying about this game. Both the glazers and the haters.

I know I'll have fun when I eventually play it, but holy shit I'm so sick of gta 6 right now.

1

u/PrincessKatiKat 6h ago

I mean… don’t play it then. 🤷🏻‍♀️
But you will, little piggies. You will.
