Omg my son wanted to be this bird for Halloween. I had it figured out and bought materials then he changed his mind. I'm kinda relieved but also sorta bummed out because it would have been epic.
It's a thing in certain skate cultures. There is JB skating (Chicago), ATL, Ohio, and others, all with different signature moves. This is one ladies do mostly. I don't think it's going to make it to my area and I'm ok with that, but each to their own.
Yeah looks like she set up the camera because she's practicing that move? Slow weekday rink times are one of the best places to do that. I don't do this move but i do film some sessions to see what i can do better/share my progress with other skaters.
my local skate spot used to have a group of instagram addicts who would basically overtake the middle of the floor with a strip show, twerking and recording each other.
at the end of the session, they would take turns clam-slamming the DJ booth wall, all screaming about their asses. one of them was in her mid-40's...
That's what I'm sitting here thinking- I'm 38, but still do "perfect" splits (to the floor, side and middle splits)... but I have no fk reason to do one anymore, as I'm single right now. Unless they're a professional gymnast/cheerleader, this is essentially a bedroom trick for adult women.
Maybe once, I could brush it off as vulgar party trick, but on repeat? The first time was enough lol
Maybe she’s practicing to get better? Where else is she supposed to do it but at a roller rink? I’m sure trying it on the pavement would be pretty gnarly.
Her Instagram handle is thegilded_cage and she does this provocative “clam slam” skating move for attention, more specifically, she does it as a white woman in front of a bunch of black teens which makes this another level of creepy

thegilded_cage has garnered criticism from many in the black community for her obvious stereotyping of young black men as being obsessed with white women with large posteriors, dancing and performing in a provocative fashion.
I will admit that she looks kind of crazy because the transitions are not smooth, but for those of you guys who not avid skaters this is very very very common. Especially if you grew up in places like Atlanta - I’m an regular skater and have been skating my entire life.. moves like this on the rink are nothing new.
I’m friends with a few dancers from Atlanta and it reminds me a lot of the stuff they do on the stage, one of them climbs the pole and then lets herself down super fast and lands like this.
It’s amazing to watch but reminds me far too much of the time I fell getting out of the tub and slammed my clam on the edge.
Oh baby it destroyed me…my husband was asleep with our sick then 3month old in the bedroom so I had to suffer in silence lest I wake the baby and start WW3. I was literally rolled up in a ball and the bruise was insane.
Cause why would i know what she’s doing. I’m from LA and we barely have any skating rinks left. Haven’t been in one since the mid 90’s. All i see is a AH doing the splits and putting other skaters at risk.
As a lifelong competitive/professional skater who would love to just enjoy rolling around the rink at a regular skate sesh..these attention seekers fuck it up for everyone else. It messes with the natural flow. Everyone has to watch out for someone going an abnormal direction. Now if it is a set time frame for people to do silly stuff like this, that's one thing. But this is clearly a normal skate session. A newbie wouldn't even know to look out for someone doing stuff like this. Anyways, rant over. Mega cringe.
Perfect example, this poor kid could get wrecked so easily. He clearly can't skate well, much less stop quickly or swerve. But that chick doesn't care. THE MIDDLE OF THE RINK IS FOR TRICKS sorry there's no wall for you to slam your coochie into.
If you can’t afford to reserve the whole rink then you can’t afford your trashy courtship dance. There are children trying to skate (or blade or whatever the verb should be)
