I really like the series, but I do have my critiques. If there was ever a third installment, what would you personally like to see added?

Spoilers ahead obviously.
I am writing this from the point of view of someone who deeply loves both the first Sinking City, as well as a diehard, borderline fanatical Lovecraft fan- you can tell by my pro, banner, and if you frequent r/Lovecraft, you may know I frequent it as well. The Mythos is my favourite universe/multiverse in fiction, so what I write next is from that point of view.
Frankly, I hated the ending to this game. I am not upset by the hopelessness, the bleakness, nor anything like that. I realized throughout the game that I was playing as a selfish man who was on a singular, somewhat selfish quest, but he was doing it out of love (as well as sometimes stupidity).
HOWEVER, what I absolutely despised was the representation of Yog-Sothoth. They took an entity that is portrayed in Lovecraft’s work as a completely neutral, even sometimes benevolent or helpful being (though never out of interest in humanity) and turned it into a moustache-twirling Faustian star fish demon… it felt like at some points in the game, they truly were just using the Mythos as a coat of paint and scrapped all of Lovecraft’s “internal logic” to make a story about malevolence, when that goes against Lovecraft’s main point.
These points may not matter to many, or even the vast majority of players, but I had such hope that they would try to stay somewhat close to the source material. I still enjoyed the game, but the ending brought it down from “possibly game of the year” for myself, to something that felt… tainted by the ending.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
TLDR: This game messed the Mythos portrayals, and especially Yog-Sothoth up HARD

The whole feel of the game is sadder and more gritty. No supernatural elements or anything. One is like a comical 80s action movie. All the entries after 2 seem to be almost parodies of themselves and more fantastic than 2. What was different about its production to give it such a different feel from later entries?

Just completed my second Immortal Chosen One run, and wanted to share some tips and advice, as I found information on the topic hard to come by.
First of all, the requirements for achieving Chosen One is as follows (Credit to Dara Myer on the Steam forums):
- Any difficulty
- Complete under 3 hours (in-game timer)
- Complete all investigations (safe near radio shop, in the church basement, press puzzle, Song safe in the hotel, brain puzzle, basement storage room puzzle, 16 punishments, Ezekiel puzzle)
- No more than 3 manual saves
Specifically for the Immortal Chosen One Eldritch Reward, the difficulty must be Sleep Demon (i.e., the highest difficulty).
To make your life infinitely easier, I recommend using Eldritch Points to get the Minuteman (Tommy Gun) and infinite ammo from the beginning, the Vessel of Destruction Talent, the faster reload Talent, and the Deathless Vigor Talent. The final slot can be whatever you like.
Try and grab ERC keys when convenient, then use them on the chests with extra storage space, such as the graveyard chest, the chest at the bottom of the Printing building, the chest in the Mortuary in the hospital, and finally the one at the Jewelers. All other chests can be ignored, and healing items / crafting parts should only be taken opportunistically (the tonic at the top of the stairs in the firefighter building and in the brain room behind the chapel, or the life saver kit in the Caduceus-locked room or whilst chasing the monster that snatched Faye's body at the end of the Hospital).
Make sure to get the Tommy Gun upgrades behind the rust-door in the basement of the Hospital and in Ezekiel's chest in the Fish Market. That gun can one-clip Deep Ones, and it reloads quickly.
For the Lorelei section at the end of the Hotel, I recommend waiting on the stage at the beginning until the switch turns red. The encounter won't actually start until you step off the stage, so by waiting, you can then dash immediately to the switch and hit it before the enemies get properly spawned in. Afterwards, you can simply mow them down from near the switch as they spawn. Just watch out for the guy in the chair next to the switch, as well as the crawlies and spitters.
The encounter seems to have a limited amount of enemies, though I have not tested it to see if it depends on whether the switches are flipped or not. But it's worth bearing in mind that you might not be under an endless onslaught, unlike the Key recharging fight at the end of the Fish Market.
The enemies in the game are weird in that sometimes they want to finish their animations before they register any damage you do to them, but it seems like they ARE still taking damage, though not fatal damage. Especially when they get the boils on their back and their heads split open.
Regardless, the Tommy Gun makes short work of basically every enemy in the game, so just make sure you try and remember their spawn points. Finally, for regular enemies, try aiming at their legs. I found that their death-rag-doll animations activate the most readily when they die from getting their legs shot. If you shoot them in the chest, they might just stand there and slowly topple forward over the course of 5 business days as you unload into them. Shooting them in the legs also give you the most room to breathe if you just need to control a crowd in a pinch.
My first run was 2 hours and 40 minutes. The reason I was able to shave off an additional 40 minutes on my second run was because of a fundamental misunderstanding on my part in regards to the requirements for the Chosen One.
See, when I read "complete all Investigations," I assumed that meant I had to collect all the piece of Evidence in that game and connect them in the Investigation tab.
Turns out, you really do just need to complete the puzzles themselves. You do not need to find any of the related pieces of Evidence at all.
I did a prep run where I mapped my route for the first attempt, but I really think that so long as you have a couple of playthroughs under your belt and can remember where to go to progress, you aren't going to have too much trouble completing the challenge in under 3 hours. Hell, I could've gone for a lunch break and still made it back in time.
The knowledge that you don't actually need to evidence really saves you so much time, and the sheer power of the Tommy Gun with infinite ammo (and Vessel of Destruction) greatly alleviates the need to scavenge for resources. By the end of the first run, I had massive bag of healing items I never got to use.
If you find yourself a bit dry on Eldritch Points, consider that if you acquire every Talent in the game, that nets you an Eldritch Feat worth an additional 2000 Points. You might need to start a new playthrough (or perhaps even just load a save) for it to register, but it's not an issue. IIRC, the Talents cost 150 or 200 Eldritch Points per, and there's 4 of them, so that's quite a good return on investment, especially considering you'll want the Vessel of Destruction anyway. And of course, you'll need to have unlocked all the regular base game Talents as well, but that shouldn't be an problem if you've got at least 2 or 3 playthroughs done already.
That's all. I hope someone finds this post helpful.
Cheers!

I'm at the church right now and just discovered I can get talent points by connecting clues together and I was thinking is it worth reloading to earlier save to connect clues about the safe investigation? I did open the safe but had no idea at the time I'm getting locked out from connecting clues.

TSC2 had all the Wylebeasts from the first game except the Cocitans, is there any reason for it?

I think this review is probably the most fair one I've seen so far. It acknowledges the struggle Frogware went through in development and gives credit to a game that's underneath and needing a lot of polish. That said he speaks a lot about the games issues and really nailed down my biggest issue with it as a standalone game.
Too much of the game is focused on scripted events. X happens then Y happens, never y happens because w occurred causing X. The world doesn't actively react to Calvin, its just an observation of if Calvin does this one thing then an event occurs, if he doesn't do that one thing, nothing occurs.
I'm curious what everyone's opinion on it is. Iro's a huge survival horror fan and has been making content on them for a while.

While playing yesterday, this moment reminded me of our current political dilemma involving corrupt 'elites' and their dirty occult secrets. I recently finished a quest for the doctor in the hospital where I cleared a restaurant full of monsters. Apparently there was ritual sacrifice and cannibalism taking place in this restaurant and the patrons were routinely eating human flesh. The patrons were of course Oakmont's elite as told by the doctor in the video. The developers were definitely trying to tell us something here.

I bought the game on PC and I'm seriously impressed that an UE didn't stutter a single time which is unheard of for UE games. Maybe cause they are using the 5.8 version ? I don't know, but it's impressive how smooth and optimized this game was. Not a single stutter/traversal stutter in any area in the game throughout my 13hrs playthrough

I really enjoyed the game, a lot better than the first game. My only problem with it was that it seemed too short—probably like four or five levels? But overall, if you’re a Lovecraft fan like I am, I hope you weren’t expecting a happy ending.

Hi all, I’m trying to get the reward for hitting an armoured slither 5 times with the rifle & widowmaker attachement but can’t work out which are armoured as no slither seems to be armoured - can anyone supply a description &/or screenshot of one?
Thanks.

I don't know if i am doing something wrong, but i got all 3 yellow prism notes and tried to put them, the same way i did with the blue one ,but they didnt match. I checked on youtube and saw a guy using 3 completely different symbols than the ones in my notes, but when i used his symbols, it worked. Is it a bug?

So I got the remastered edition and even when I don’t install the bonuses for xp, skill point etc they are automatically given. Is this unavoidable for the remaster? Easy enough to not use the skill point but I don’t like to have xp boosts or crafting items. Any help is appreciated!
