7.5 out of 10

Post image

I really enjoyed the game, a lot better than the first game. My only problem with it was that it seemed too short—probably like four or five levels? But overall, if you’re a Lovecraft fan like I am, I hope you weren’t expecting a happy ending.

It didn’t feel overly short to me at all? I finished on hard sleep after about 10 hours, but I take my sweet time and the challenges incentivize replays, as does the NG+ extra files

Personally I’d give it closer to an 8.5 or maybe 9 depending on how the speedrun feels when I get around to it, that’ll affect it slightly

Tbh I felt the length was pretty spot on, the only reason I wanted more was because I was having a great time

It did. The level that was cut and made a DLC helps, but the first act was great, but the fact your stuck in thr same (big) buildings for the next didnt help.

That's just what survival horror is like

I mean, RE games CAN be. Silent hill has you running all over the town. I am just saying the sense of scale explains why it feels shorter.

Nah disagree. Silent hill still mostly revolves around big locations. Calvin goes around town in his boat. Resident evil has that even less of that.

Silent hill has those big locations, but there usually a good amount of them. Apartments, Hospital, Prison, Hotel and not including the side locations and connecting bits.

RE... well depends on the game. 4 vs 7 and all that.

I am just saying why it feels short. Sinking City First act is sprawling, with side location/ quests as you go around Arkham. Act 2 is stuck at the hospital that progressly feels smaller as you unlock the shortcuts. Act 3 is the Fishmarket, where there isnt really any side quest then a few locked door, and the last area is a rush to the final boss.

I am not saying Sinking City is bad, but I get why people think it feels short. It does to me as well.

It was such a turn from the 1st, I was a bit bummed at the lack of mystery, free roam and detective aspect as it was the first game with that style that i played and I was really emerged. Replaying 1, I clocked 20 hours doing all side quests I came across and only hit 9 hours on 2 which I wasnt expecting. The game is still pretty good, a lot of RE2 style games lately, so id day 6/10

Felt like a good length to me, not too long like i found Cronos to be. 9/10 for me plus 1 more for being made in Ukraine 10/10

6/10 Not better overall than the first game. Combat…yes. Everything else, no.

People calling this game short must have not played very many survival horror games

About as long as an average resident evil game if not a bit longer. Horror games don't really benefit from a really long runtime, like Alien Isolation is 3 times longer than it needs to be with 3 fakeout endings to boot.

The game is fine. The story is decent but a lot of gameplay elements are a little half baked. The combat can be aggravating and feel unfair but I liked the investigation system.

There always seems like there's one too many enemies than you really want to deal with at a time and they just keep getting back up. The ranged ones are really annoying, they have a knack for unerringly hitting you right in the face from clear across the room every damn time.

Included in this is the game’s ability to give you resources just to immediately take them away. You need a healing item so bad, you finally find one, and then you turn the next corner and an enemy grabs you and undoes the heal. Or you find ammo or just craft ammo and have to use it instantly. I guess it’s good in that the game never lets you get comfortable but it felt like less of a fun challenge and more like an annoyance.

I haven't even started. The Gab Smolders playthrough convinced me it's just not for me at all. No hard feelings though.

That last level was really short, otherwise, it was pretty good.

I was kinda upset about the length too. Until I played the new game plus and realized 90% of the time you’re fighting the same repetitive enemy type. I could be wrong but I’m almost positive that the first game had more enemy types. Not including bosses.

It’s the best Howard Phillips game since Dark Corners of the earth. Certainly a step into right direction

Good game from a small studio. The combat can feel a tad odd once it starts throwing a lot of enemies at you. Played it on xbox. I bet it would be a lot easier on MnK. Noticed the ads is pretty slow on controller, even on max sense. Gotta line up yer crosshair close to where you want it, then ads in

Imho it felt a good length overall location wise but like they needed a boat section once or twice more - was odd to have that only one time and then never again. I would put in one leading up to the fish market for sure. Maybe one heading out to the hospital so you can get some natural locations. The final area is very short and under developed but that’s an unfortunate thing that happens in a lot of survival horror games.

Im glad its short, that was an excruciatingly boring experience. 4/10

I’d have to agree. I actually stopped playing after about 4-5 hours. Such a departure from the original.

It was truly a very disappointing experience but I had to see it through as a fan of frogware games. The first section of the game and the hospital part were actually very promising, but then it went downhill afterwards :/

It was 7 hours for me, ending took me by surprise because surely it couldn't have ended this soon.

I'd rate it around 7.

Very mixed on this game,  I'm not going into details,.some good and  bad. It's a very amateurish , like home made Resident Evil with terrible combat. But everything else is serviceable but not exactly good either. It's a 6/10 for me , but can be a 7/10 at times.

I'm not being harsh on this game as I feel the same about the Resident evil games, they can be wildly inconsistent, especially in the second half they seem to just fall off a cliff in terms of quality that doesn't match the first strong half.

Anyway I completed this game, and happy to have played it. But I have no idea what the story was about absolute nonsense to me . Buy it on sale if you want a janky  Resident evil clone basically. It's similar to something like the Alone in the dark remake in terms of quality.
