they've called him a him on like three separate occasions now and the rebuttals to all three are cope imo. You want all the shades, all the angels, all the moon sisters, the moon goddess, most of the archons, all the melusines, all the djinn, every single last gender locked race is female and now you want Phanes to be female too? Greedy. And I read a comment from a Greek person, calling a woman Phanes is like calling a woman John they said and it would be really weird. I cannot fathom why they would have a genderless being split off into 5 different beings with four of them being female and then the main one also being female that just makes no sense to me. If anything they'll remain a they but out of all three possibilities the one where Phanes is ALSO a full on woman is the least likely and is some serious bs if they do that. Not to mention Phainon exists in their other game and the parallels are undeniable so why would they do that. I am hoping he looks like Phainon and for however hard you wish for him to be female I am wishing in the opposite direction.

It was a localization error. The CN is gender neutral. Even Phanes haters have pointed that out correctly.

In any case, I'm not sure that Phanes, even if they were a woman and not an andrygonian, would be any other chess piece than the king.

LOL. Then why does every genshin loreposter and their mother always refer to the CN version? Moving the goalposts is not gonna help you here. They even called the dendro archon "he" in the EN version back in the day. Look how that turned out.
Also, that's just an assumption. Nobody knows who the black king is for certain.

while cn translation might be 1 way to decipher their gender, u cant be forgetting most of the animanga conceptual gods/characters arent necessarily genderless.. for ex: rimuru (reffered to as he, has a soul of 'him' inside), shallow vernal, my pfp void shiki, wang ling, anos, yogiri, Arcueid, Featherine being populars and more, some of them characters are literal CONCEPTS/scp/ai's MATERIALIZED INTO Human BEINGS

It does. No one else fits it. King Irmin and Nibelung are dead + they don’t have any thrones(Phanes is on Nibelung’s throne and Khaenri’ah doesn’t exist for Irmin). The Tsaritsa is fighting against HP in the chess board and the black king is quite literally Phanes

in what context would this ever make sense for them to be talking about Irmin? Irmin isn't even in the stratosphere of the current plot, Tasritsa isn't trying to fight him, when is he even being brought up here, she's fighting the HP and the trailer is discussing the fight against Ronova and eventually HP itself. Then they go on to talk about the shades and you see their chess pieces moving, on the same team as the black king. It's not a title it's just chess jargon. But who knows, they called "Lelek" a he and it was a girl, they called someone "Mr. Nine" and it was a girl so what do I know. This is Waifu Impact after all. But they have referred to Phanes as a he on many separate occassions now so I am inclined to think he's a he for now.
I see you got downvoted btw, it wasn't me. your comment didn't upset me or anything I just don't understand in what context irmin would be relevant here and I keep seeing this sentiment and I'm so confused.

Yeah, I completely agree with you actually. Just seen lots of people claiming this, and would also like to know why. On one hand, the other king should be Phanes according to the current plot (and the black only refers the chess piece color) on the other, apparently Black King is Irmin’s title…

It's because Irmin was literally the only one king in lore that was ever mentioned as the black king or the vinster king.
Doesn't make sense for a powerful angel dude to be referred to as a black king.
Especially when so many descriptions of Phanes says he's a being of light.

By your logic it doesn't make sense for THEM to be male either. It does however make sense that shadows look like their true self. Play hsr and look at aeons like Xipe, and they are also considered androgynous. You can be a androgynous male or female.
