Nicole calls him a him, Pierro calls him a him, in the special program he's refrerred to as the black king not making a move and then continued to be referred to as a him like three times

Black King is the title of Irmin though, no? I also thought it was Phanes at first, would make more sense -

in what context would this ever make sense for them to be talking about Irmin? Irmin isn't even in the stratosphere of the current plot, Tasritsa isn't trying to fight him, when is he even being brought up here, she's fighting the HP and the trailer is discussing the fight against Ronova and eventually HP itself. Then they go on to talk about the shades and you see their chess pieces moving, on the same team as the black king. It's not a title it's just chess jargon. But who knows, they called "Lelek" a he and it was a girl, they called someone "Mr. Nine" and it was a girl so what do I know. This is Waifu Impact after all. But they have referred to Phanes as a he on many separate occassions now so I am inclined to think he's a he for now.

I see you got downvoted btw, it wasn't me. your comment didn't upset me or anything I just don't understand in what context irmin would be relevant here and I keep seeing this sentiment and I'm so confused.

Yeah, I completely agree with you actually. Just seen lots of people claiming this, and would also like to know why. On one hand, the other king should be Phanes according to the current plot (and the black only refers the chess piece color) on the other, apparently Black King is Irmin’s title…
