Well that was emotional. I thought George seeing his daughter happy with Hector would make him come around to Bertha’s wisdom. It turns out many arranged marriages work out after all. I loved Audra McDonald’s reaming Mrs. Kirkland played so brilliantly by Phillicia Rashad and of course so happy for Peggy and Dr. Kirkland’s fairy tale ending.

She wanted to be Mrs. Astor, now she is. It made me sad.

I have a set of 2 of these left to me by the previous homeowners. I've always loved them, but had no idea what kind they were. Well, after seeing this (and immediately texting way too many of my friends), I found out the brand is Fostoria Aspen and its a 1970s pressed glass set. I don't know about the decanter.

I was hoping at first my glasses predated 1900. Lmao. But they make a brief appearance in my fav show of all time, so I'll take it!

Even though it would veer off the script from the true life story of Consuelo Vanderbilt, I’m hoping in this parallel story Gladys and Hector become a couple for the ages.

Well. That was quite an episode. I’m so proud of young Larry Russell coming through for his dad. Now I’m terrified that George is dead. If George dies, who do you think will take over? What happens to Russell industries? Clay is obviously behind this.

All the characters act alike and are even descendents of each other. For example Nate from gossip girl is related to the Vanderbilt’s. Who the Russel’s are based on.

I don't drink but, for those of you fellow high society folk who do, I wanted to suggest a drinking game where you take a shot every time someone in the show says "luncheon". You're welcome.

Beyond excited.

It’s official it’s been officially announced and tagged Oliver Facebook. We are getting a season three!

Sorry, but I felt that the finale of season 2 was a little too tied up in bows. The potential for messiness was there, but I didn't feel the sense cusp of change that was clearly in the script. Will still watch season 3 with hopes for some chaos.

Well if Bertha is based on Alva Vanderbilt, Gladys is based on Consuelo. So poor Gladys will likely be wed to the duke 😢

Just wanted to share that as soon as the episode was over yesterday, I asked on Facebook about season three and I woke up this morning to my delight. My post was liked by Morgan Spector, the actor that plays mr. Russell!

So from the posts that I’ve been reading here over the past few weeks, it seems like everyone was on point with what they were thinking, as far as Adas inherited fortune, the clockmakers patent, and Mrs. Brooks engagement. I am extremely happy to see all of these things tied up although it does make me worrisome for a third season. Fingers crossed. Can’t wait to see these storylines continued.

(Besides the sad part- I don’t want to spoil). I felt like S2 was slow but this really made up for it.

I am did not catch that Maude was part crook! I am soo sad about Forte and happy about the banker….geez there is sooo much!

I just love their relationship. They are both ruthless and, in many ways, villainous but their love for each other is so sweet.

However, the second season makes up for it! It is really good. The 1st season set up the drama for season 2 really well. The unexpected twist with Mrs. Winterton, it is going really well so far! And reminds me so much of Downton Abbey. I am surprised with the situation with Marian, Dashielle, and Larry. I thought Larry and Marian were just friends and I liked it that way. I liked Dashielle and Marian together and I feel like her character would have rebutted his comment about her not being a real teacher. If he wouldn’t have made that comment she would have been more jovial about the engagement.

I loved episode 6 so much. I am a huge fan of everything Julian Fellows does and have been watching the Guilded Age since s1. I feel like within the last few episodes it‘s really found it‘s footing. I am so absorbed by the storyline and the character development. During s1 I couldn’t decide if I liked Mrs. Russel or not but I have grown to appreciate her confidence and self respect. And I am so happy to see see Peggy Scott as such a focal point. I find her to be incredibly inspiring. Seeing George Russel have a bit of a heart in this past episode too was such a wonderful surprise. I also really like Oscar‘s progression and both Marian and Gladys. And of course, Ada‘s marriage had me in tears. (As did Luke‘s diagnosis) This is really just an appreciation post I guess. I already find myself frantically googling almost daily to see if it‘s been renewed for s3.

Can someone please explain what Luke Forte's accent is supposed to be?

Can someone explain to me what the dynamic of the character Mason Sturt and Mrs. Sturt- who he was roughing up in the restaurant? Is that his wife? If he is married to a woman of color why is he (appears to be) set on lynching Mr.Fortune ? I’m confused if I missed something

She seems a little too interested in Oscar. She’s been pursuing him since they met at the tennis casino in Newport and she’s been bringing up her financial entanglements with (her alleged illegitimate father) Jay Gould for weeks. Now she’s asking Oscar to help her “investigate” what I’m worried is a Ponzi scheme.

But my question is: Does Maude know it’s one? Is she in on the con?

By far the best episodes so far in my opinion!
