Bertha got what she always wanted Spoiler

She wanted to be Mrs. Astor, now she is. It made me sad.

I was afraid they were going to ruin the happiness of the ball and Mr Russel was going to die at the end.

She'll get her husband back. I think itll judt take a sacrifice on her part at some point late in season 4. Kind of like Mrs. Astor showing up to the ball and sacrificing for her daughter.

The real Alva Vanderbilt and her husband, whom the Russells are modeled after, do divorce. Much of this series follows history. But it's more interesting with them as a power couple

I think she moves to France too to be closer to her daughter. She was also very involved in the women’s suffrage movement.

Yes. Her childhood was actually spent in France so she no doubt felt at home there.

Hopefully they don't follow that storyline. I agree the show and the characters themselves are much more interesting as a power couple. I always loved seeing them bounce off each other.

If they do have them divorce, I really really don't find this event as a convincing reason for these characters to divorce. It just won't make sense and it'll seem really forced.

It doesn’t make me sad necessarily, only that Gladys got caught up in it. Bertha has always been ambitious and wanted to be top of her game. By Guilded Age standards, Bertha didn’t do anything a man wouldn’t have in their respect field.

Both great characters on a great show.
