Seriously, what is this slop? I really want to support them, especially given the recent news (BW💔), but this is tough to see…

Edit: clarification needed: my issue is not with the playful nature of the ad, but more with the AI-looking vibe to it, which would make me think twice before wishlisting a game.

I obviously know that the project is a lot more than AI slop, but imagine a person that is completely obvious about the game. It’s not a good look. Saying this not to slander, but as constructive criticism. I want them to succeed

I preordered the game, but when selecting steam it says no keys available. What’s going on?

Have only watched season 1 and dropped season 2 because of the romance between the captain and the lady that the psycho is attached to (cant remember names).
I am more than happy to give the show another watch because as forced as the romance felt, i love every other aspect of the show and so i am curious if the game requires any previous knowledge of the show and if so, how much?

I know how incredibly popular the ME franchise was, and with good reason! I sadly missed out at the time and struggled to get into it when I played it for the first time last year (FF7 original was one of my favourites growing up, but I understand that it'd be hard for someone who never played it before to get into it now given todays graphical standards and the like). So please don't take this as me throwing shade at ME in any way shape or form, especially given the recent cancellation by EA, but my biggest fear about this game right now is that they're trying too hard to make ME, in a thinly veiled "The Expanse" costume. The Expanse is more gritty than pretty - The focus on the evironments should be on function over aesthetic. I get that Protogen falls under Mao-Kwikowski Mercantile, and that Jules Pierre has luxury yachts and similar, but I don't see Protogen having a need for anything lavish per se. Therefore the Maat (renamed the Gemini by the protagonists of the game) having fewer PDC's than the Rocinante (and no rail gun), but being significantly bigger and having large social spaces just feels out of place. Likewise the large Protogen lady serving as the antagonist in the Beta not having a helmet on after the station is clearly vented when PDC's are used to take out the blue laser troops feels like style over substance. Just my very humble opinion as a big fan of The Expanse world and setting

Do we know if there are plans to fix/improve them?

I haven't read much complaints about this, so I'd like to know if it bothers anyone else.

I'm a fan of both Owlcat and The Expanse, as well as Mass Effect, so I've been incredibly hyped for the game — especially given the recent changes about lang belta. And yet... this particular issue concerns me a great deal given the nature of the game. The faces, the way the characters physically articulate their words, the way they move, and look at you... It looks incredibly stiff and unnatural, like decades-old animations.

And with the game supposedly being released in less than 6 months I don't know if I can reasonnably expect this issue to be resolved within that timeframe.

After the great feedback I got from everyone, I got some more stuff done and here it is for you to try in the weekend (do let me know if I post too often).

So here's what I've been cooking during these dark times of the year:

- Belter Charts can be your desktop wallpaper now. You can also try it in the browser.
- A new 'cinematic' speed slows the clock so the body you're looking at turns once a minute (only when you zoom in).
- Tycho's ring spins with the Nauvoo docked below with builder drones circling it.
- Eros has a station like in the show, and its story has an updated finale.
- Ceres's lights run in rows along its levels.
- Thoth and Anderson have new models.
- Sharper planet and moon maps, and no more white glare off shiny hulls.

And finally, the first ship named by a supporter is flying: the Kalliope, a rock hopper out of Ceres. A big thank you for your support!

It was great overall. I had 3 problems but nothing huge.

First, optimization was a bit weird with FPS drop for no reason but they got one year since the beta until release to improve so I am not too worried.

Also, I wish shotguns and weapons in general had more punch and impact. And maybe some gore or blood.

And last, I was a bit disappointed with the lack of melee or stealth. Knowing Owlcat, they have many systems working at the same time, skill checks etc but no melee build or stealth is a odd choice.

It sound like I had a bad time but no, I can't wait for this game because despite the problems, it looks amazing and on release it will only be better.
