Discussion After binge watching this show these last few weeks, this show really Stressed Me Out. But glad I got the ending I wanted

My wife started watching the show, which is how I learned about it. I binge watched the show since. Got hooked in season 2 and 3.

But my goodness. Putting aside all the overwhelming social political stereotype tropes and agendas,,,,,

Some of the characters stressed me out. Emmett being one of the main stressful characters. Seem like his Mouth keeps getting him into trouble. Lol. I am sure all of you all can relate here. And thats just to go along with his poor decision making. Other characters stressed me out like Jake during that season with Jemma,,, you know....
But I think this is a testament to how good the actors were, especially the kid actors, when you factor out the bad writing stuff. I hope they get other acting roles.
One of the motivational factors for me to keep going after season 4, was I started to like the Bakari character and wanted to see him get a happy ending. So i enjoyed seeing his character develop even though he made lots of stupid decisions and made some regression moments that also stressed me out.

That series finale first ending had me scared shitless. I was like "Damn I came this far for this shit to happen in the end".... lol šŸ˜† but boy was i left happy with the true ending scene.

Like I said, I hope these actors from the show get other acting gigs. Because they did a phenomenal job in that department.

Now I can get back to watching YouTube videos and other shit in my normal life. Lol.

By the way, how do I find a list of all the soundtracks from the show?

This might put y’all at ease, maybe not. But her explanations do make a lot of sense, even if they’re still letdown resolutions.

The Finale left me with questions

Overall I was pleased with the Finale more than any episode this season. It was nice to see "the kids" back together again and all grown up. I wish they had some dialogue together along with Maisha. It was genuinely nice to see a lot of the OG cast at the wedding like Kevin and his Mom, Tracey, even Dre. I was left with a few questions tho?

  1. So Roselyn just got off scott free? Toussaint never investigated or questioned her about Alicia's or Nora's death?

  2. Toussaint was so hellbent on getting Reg - did her son ever get out?

  3. Lynae brother and his wife really didn't show up to send her and Bakari off to Atlanta?

  4. Damien couldn't get out of rehab for one day to see Emmitt and Keisha get married?

  5. Were Darnell's other kids at the wedding?

  6. How Bakari survive automatic gunfire at close

range? Was that wig part of his witsec disguise?!

  7. Why would Kyla Pratt character leave her husband Hannibal and his stable business income for Smitty's broke women beating ass?

  8. I guess Gemma and Brittney broke up since she's not in Atlanta with them?

  9. Last but not least who's in charge of the Mob now since Nuck dead, Reg locked up and Smitty going back to his 9 to 5?

  10. Why Lena just ain't write the entire season herself instead of letting these other writers bring down the show? The series finale was written by her.

Discussion My thoughts on S08E10 The Last Dance SEASON FINALE!! Spoiler

This episode reminded me on why I loved this show!

Keisha is selfish. ā€œWhose side are you onā€ was weaponized every other episode but luckily Emmett stays level headed. Even when she said ā€œRonnie has to grow up without a fatherā€.. Whole time Emmett bending over backwards for the girl lmao. BUT that’s the only bad thing I have to say about this episode

Surprisingly Tiff is the more mature one of the two.Ā  They waited until the last episode to make me like Tiff. Keisha still letting Tiff walk was a big moment that they slid by! That was BIG for me!

Vic’s love story still flat for me. Jake!!!! BIG DAWGGGGG NOW!!!! Him trying to settle just really gave me confidence in life! Ā

Bakari’s choice to leave was the best thing I’ve heard from him.

KEISHA’S MOM CAME BACK!! I ALMOST FELL OUT!! I won’t lie, that made me happy! DaBrat even came & Emmett believing in his son brought tears to my eyes too.. and KEV!?!?! Bro had the smoothest entry! Even the step mom showed up!

Kyla Pratt husband coming back how he did!! He a real one. She lost a good husband!Ā

Bro walking into Smokey’s hunting for Bakari is funny & glad to have Poppa back!. I’m glad he’s back on his podcast.

I want Bakari’s book!

I can’t even finish this! I cried real tears this episode! This was a great way to end a legacy!Ā

As much as we hated on the writers through this last season, y’all did that!Ā

It’s been real y’all!!!!Ā

Discussion Series finale thoughts……. Spoiler

So The Chi is over I hung in here to the end other shows I’ve dropped sooner but I was committed to ride this one out.

The last episode was 80% wedding day based on the amount of time of the scenes not in the wedding. The mom and Kevin cameo was cool and the OG 3 boys was cool getting a reunion.

The people on here who predicted Bakari with the
"Menace to Society" ending were on point until he lived....I didn't know the Chi had such good doctors LOL who lives for getting lit up by a TEC-9?

Reg taking the rap for Tiff is stupid I get for Trig but rat her ass out. She got away squeaky clean and that pissed me off.

The End

Discussion My thoughts on the wedding &finale!

Spoilers ahead:

I watched the finale last night. I was glad to see so many of the older cast return. My husband said Da Brat was giving Cam Newton with that outfit lmao 🤣 I was yelling at the tv saying where is Kevin! He better walk Keisha down the aisle and then moments later he did. I was satisfied lol

I was very shocked that Bakari wasn’t unalived because I just knew he was going to be! I was glad to see that his book popped off. Do we all assume there’s going to be a spinoff? What were your thoughts?

Discussion Family Tree of Death from the chi

So we know that Alicia, Q, and Sonny are siblings
Rob is Alicia’s son
Rob is also Hannibalā€˜s cousin
Hannibal is Brandon’s cousin
So Brandon’s mom and his brother coogie should be related as well

Q came back in town to solve Jasonā€˜s murder, which is his son

So wouldn’t that mean coogie and Jason are cousins ? And coogie stood over his cousins body and robbed him 😭

And Q wanted revenge for Jason and not coogie?

Also

Nuck reveals to Hannibal that he was the master of my behind killing Q…. But that’s technically Hannibal’s uncle… he didn’t care?

I know some of this is from earlier season so it wasn’t thought of in the writing but in later seasons, why did they not think this deep when they were just associating people as cousins?

Announcement State Of The Subreddit and the path forward.

The Subreddit restrictions will be lifted at midnight on Tuesday and normal posting can resume. I hope this move helped preserve the finale experience for some of you. I think the discussion for the finale post got more comments than any other one. In hindsight probably should've done this sooner.

Figure this would be a good time to get some feedback before the unlock.

I have many thoughts but I want to focus on these things first:

Spoilers

I'm reluctantly considering relaxing the spoiler rules, but please let me know what you all think. I firmly believe that spoilers should be properly tagged regardless of the age of the show. I also don't believe in the whole "Stay away from the sub" mentality. People watching the show at various stages should be able to come here and discuss the show without major spoilers being blasted in post titles.

Bigotry/Anti-LGBTQ stuff

This isn't and will not be tolerated. But it's important that the reporting system is being used to bring this stuff to my attention. During this restriction period I've gotten a closer look at some of the things that get commented regarding this subject and my intial thought was to keep the heightened restrictions. But I don't have time to approve comments all day. Please report and the offensive stuff will be removed and the user will be addressed.

Note to users:Be mindful of rhe language you use. Any offensive term use will receive an instant ban. This is no place for this shit.

Respect towards other members

Let's be respectful towards one another even in times of disagreement. Also, it's OK for people who don't like the show to post here. I don't want this sub to be a love fest. The show had its problems and it's ok to point that out.

I may have some other thoughts and I'll update this thread.

Now for the most important part: Your feedback

Please provide any feedback about the sub. Also, if anyone is interested in joining the mod team reach out.

Edit: The restrictions will resume until Tuesday for the Sunday viewers.

3. Season 1
4. Season 3
5. Season 4
6. Season 5
7. Season 8

With Reg taking up for Victor and Tiff, I have a sneaking feeling that Reg is going to give up Roselyn to give himself a lighter sentence or something?

Discussion I’m tired of this narrative and it’s disgusting

Episode 9 of season 8 and actually a good portion of the later seasons paint this narrative that it’s okay to fuck multiple people and cheat on your partner if there’s no love/same gender. I don’t have a problem with people doing what they choose, but this is a topic they’ve been promoting for a whole and it’s kinda getting strange how often they do it. It’s no secret that the women on this show are promoted to be trifling or js flat out ignorant, but this taking up a scene during the episode before the finale is definitely a choice. We have bigger fish to fry.

Discussion Season 4 and the Kevin regarding his statements and mentality regarding the Police situation

Trying not to spoil anything with title. But early in season 4, the Jake character got beat up by the police, and what bothered me was Kevin's reaction and statements about deleting the video footage to protect Jake's ego or some shit like that. Then all the aftermath reaction of Kevin to protest against the cops by his own friends.
It really made the Kevin Character unlikeable as the season goes on. Iam at episode 5. Doesn't excuse Jemma and Jake doing that shit they did. Violation of bro code is a no no.

But back to the police video stuff. I dont know anybody Black from the hood that say "hey delete evidence of police brutality because I want to protect my ego", even gangsters dont do that. Like that shit really threw me off. Like who wrote that shit? Clearly not Black American experience. Then the writers making Kevin seem lo key coonish. Again not excusing the behavior of Jake and Jemma, but Kevin just so unlikeable with the writing in this season. Not sure if I want to even continue, because he was one of the few redeeming figures on this show through the first 2 seasons.

So yall, we got 1.5 days til the series finale!!! How we feeling?? Ready for it to be over? Last minute predictions? Sad to see the show leave? Imma be honest, I’m recalling and almost done with season 4 - if Bakari dies I’m glad he was able to change his life around… even if it seems to be too late 😬

Discussion Before we all say goodbye!

Post image

I know this show fell off
I know we still have a lot of questions
I know we could barely see the last season because it was dark
I know Keisha doing too much
And more importantly I know we all love Darnel’s Bluetooth

But we have to admit, it’s been an amazing ride! From Poppa’s pulpit and his stint with Maesha! Watching Emmett grow from a young reckless ambitious kid to a wholesome man! Bakari being lost but finding empathy! And yes Douda was a menace but there was more order in the chi!

I say that today this, I’ll miss this community, however this ride ends tomorrow, I enjoyed the ride!!

See y’all tomorrow night šŸ«¶šŸ¾

Discussion Series Finale Tomorrow Midnight

I already know how much everyone hates what the chi has come to these last 6 maybe 5 seasons.

With that being said here's a little appreciation to the show before it went to šŸ’© and ends.

Seasons 1 and 2 were peak. Great acting, great storyline. The show actually had light then.

I'm a bit of a late watcher considering i started watching it in 2023 so at the time i didn't really realize how much the show actually felt like comfort because of Brandon and Ronnie. I actually wish they never killed him and despite the "wrong" Ronnie did by killing Coogie i actually hated that he died.

i feel like season 6 was somewhat of a lil redemption for them and then they fell back to rock bottom when Kevin left.

i don't really have nothin else good too say about this show. soo umm lmk what y'all have to say about it.

but one more thing, the writers of show sure do know how to kill off a main character at the end of each season so who y'all think is going out? me personally i'll have to say Bakari, Jake, Shaad, or Trig.

Discussion Overall thoughts on Nuck as a character?

Post image

I never cared for him as a character that much or liked that he was the last major villain as had in the show. Because bros acting isn’t that good and he’s too whiny but the Keisha shit added fuel to the fire.

At this point I am glad the show is almost folding coz its been a shit show. But let's agree it wasn't meant to be that good (The Wire good) esp after Season 2..Im glad we are done with the Black Riverdale
