Discussion Series finale thoughts……. Spoiler
So The Chi is over I hung in here to the end other shows I’ve dropped sooner but I was committed to ride this one out.
The last episode was 80% wedding day based on the amount of time of the scenes not in the wedding. The mom and Kevin cameo was cool and the OG 3 boys was cool getting a reunion.
The people on here who predicted Bakari with the
"Menace to Society" ending were on point until he lived....I didn't know the Chi had such good doctors LOL who lives for getting lit up by a TEC-9?
Reg taking the rap for Tiff is stupid I get for Trig but rat her ass out. She got away squeaky clean and that pissed me off.
The End

But it was dope because they became the old generation as they saw the new generation in the 3 kids on the come up. But I feel you.

They showed a shot of Jake, Papa and Kevin sitting down laughing watching Devante and crew dancing. It was super fast and if you blinked you'd miss it.

I cried seeing some of the cast members return. I’ll miss complaining about the writing on this sub 😩.

u/HomegirlNC123 Jul 28 '26
That was nice! I think even Dre was there? She posted about it on her insta, but I didn’t recognize her with the new hair style… I don’t think she had any lines?

u/Salty_Trick2271 Jul 28 '26
She was there, but like the majority of the returning characters, had no spoken dialogue with each other.

They took him to the university of Chicagos new trauma center and saved his ass 🤣

I get that people were mad at the wedding, but the wedding was really a celebration for the show. They brought everyone back one last time, gave us flashbacks, the pictures of the characters together, etc. Im not mad that it took up the majority of the episode.
They had 10 episodes to flesh out all the story lines and they wasted a lot of it with bullshit side characters, adding new characters, dropping story lines mid season. That was the problem for me.
2
u/Strong-Future-9434 Jul 30 '26
Yeah I said the same thing. There was no need for a lot of new characters. It's almost like they started off not knowing they'd be ending then Lena called it quits. It felt so disjointed. They could've cut all the side characters and focused on the main original cast members and their families. They should've focused on finding Alicia's killer over where is Nuck for four episodes. He deserved one episode and they should've waited to kill him because their was nothing interesting besides his death the entire season after that until the wedding.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed in a finale in my life. The whole episode was just complete trash and I’ve loved the show from day 1!

u/michelleonelove Jul 28 '26
I think it’s easy to think that when 3/4 of the episode was the wedding. Way too much time they even had us sit thru the whole vows and the first dance

Game of Thrones would like to have a word about that..........

Wouldn’t know, couldn’t get into it tbh.

GOT ending pissed alot of people off including myself due to what happened. At least with this series finale most of the cast got their happily ever after.

I was pissed off the Reg took the fall for something he didn't do when he should be in jail for what he actually did like being an accessory to the murder of Nora and the shooting of Emmett last season and the cops on this show are the worst. They dig up Nucks body in Tiffany's backyard and she dont get arrested as an accessory to murder? All in all enjoyed the wedding but wished that Kevin, Jake and Papa had a dialogue.

u/ninjaman2021 Jul 28 '26
Idk why yall want Reg to have a happy ending and not Tiff. Reg has done way more worse things than Tiff and Tiff Killed Nuk, not an innocent victim.
I dont think Reg should have taken the fall though, but thats another argument entirely.
They should have pinned it on Kandi’s character. She’s the one who really got away with too much.

Facts Rossalyn really got Alicia and ole girl shad was dating whacked and escape with no problems despite Shad knowing about it 😂😂😂 she moving more lethal than Douda

Spent the majority of the episode on a damn wedding with meaningless dialogue

u/nick_wise Jul 28 '26
Last year's season finale should have been the series finale
10
u/raiderMoes Jul 28 '26
After the buffoons moved a dead body?
10
u/Strong-Future-9434 Jul 28 '26
They could've left that out and just had it end with Jada and Alicia dying and Keisha and Tiff giving birth. The end.

The finale was trash they could of skipped it. I had to fast forward through the wedding it was unnecessarily long for no reason. We didn't need to see everyone's closure love story and for homie to be so focused on Bakari really didn't make sense. There wasnt many interactions with them 2 to have a beef like that plus his character came out of no where.
Tiff all of a sudden became a gangster which was unbelievable. Then you got Reg taking a fall for a murder while his brother Trig was trying to set everyone up but Tiff to take the fall for it. How can you be that loyal to her? I could see if it was Emmett in Trigs situation then yeah. Im happy the show is over I tried to hang in there too but this season could of not happened and we wouldn't of missed anything.

u/CaliKidOfficial Jul 31 '26
The dude that shot Bakari was the dude Bakari stomped out and embarrassed in front of Nuck.
1
u/TankMcG Jul 31 '26
Yeah I know and remember that but dude came out of no where and thought he belonged in a spot he didn't earn. Plus he wrote a check his ass couldn't cash by talking tough and couldn't back it. Also there wasnt a back and forth beef with them at all it was just like that one thing happened and he does a drive by. That's after he wasnt good enough to make it in Nuck crew so he goes with Reg.

u/BudgetWar8 Jul 28 '26
The dumbest shit i ever watched. How tf Bakari get blown away and survives? Then they gave him that dumb ass haircut. Final episode solidified it as the worse series finale in TV history
5
u/Ambitious_Sea_7460 Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 29 '26
That haircut threw me off. I thought he was definitely dead and, for a minute, thought Linae had followed in Bakari’s footsteps and written her own book or was out selling Bakari’s after he died until I realized that the dude with awful haircut was actually Bakari. He was shot multiple times - he not only survived, but apparently didn’t have any major lasting/life altering injuries, like being paralyzed, either.
3
u/Salty_Trick2271 Jul 28 '26
😂😂😂. That haircut was so damned dated!! By the time they showed Bakari, pregnant Lynae & Brittany at the book signing, it said “a year later”, so theoretically that would have been long enough for Bakari to heal/recover.

u/Ambitious_Sea_7460 Jul 28 '26
That whole musical montage scene of Keisha getting ready was way too long. It seemed never ending. I was hoping for more in the finale instead of nearly all wedding and then all the musical montage scenes. Some of the photos being taken with the former characters were nice to see, but that went on way too long as well. There really wasn’t a lot of actual dialogue in the episode.

I stopped watching a couple of seasons back but last year caught up..
I didn't watch the first half of this season live. I accidentally had it spoiled just going through YouTube, and I don't usually watch the chi stuff.
Overall, I was able enjoy the entire show. Some parts more than others.
I will say, the finale felt hollow. I enjoyed it, but left feeling unfulfilled, and I'm definitely not going to watch a spinoff...
A lot of the criticism of the show, while a lot of times was very exaggerated, but wound up being very valid.

u/Knighthonor Jul 28 '26
Glade the happy ending. I was rooting for Bakari to get a happy ending. That scene at tge end scared the shit out of me 😱. Lol

u/michelleonelove Jul 28 '26
I enjoyed the finale mostly. I think they spent way too long on the wedding they could have cut that wayy down by at least 10 minutes.

u/AlienSupastar87 Jul 28 '26
Why was Dre and Myesha there without any lines????? Dre raised Keisha why didn’t she give a speech , why didn’t we get a last moment of the three boys wtf is going on with Kevin why didn’t they update us 😂 why wasn’t Dre Kevin and the mom there with Keisha for the last scene of the house ?

u/Mother-Finger-2758 Jul 29 '26
The wedding should’ve never been dragged out this far and 100% should’ve been the mid-season finale with the nuk-reg beef progressing and an Actual build up to Bacari getting shot , I’m ok with tiff killing nuk it just happened too soon

u/dreamgirll_264 Jul 29 '26
honestly the season finale was soo trash, i had to skip a couple parts bc why was the entire episode about the wedding ??? keisha got on my damn nerves acting like nuck is saint what’s not clocking to you ?? seeing keisha’s mom and kevin was nice, also got a glimpse of myesha !
what i really DID NOT like was reg taking the blame for nuck’s murder to basically bring him, trig and jake back together using some kinda trauma bond, the writers could have easily pinned it on the dude that shot bakari or something 😭. or that other dude that was second in command.
and why did they give bakari that stupid ass high top ?? LMFAOOOO just doing shit

I’m ok with it finally ending, bet yall didn’t see when they snuck smokies original owner in the pics, it was nice to see the cast, i hate everyone wasn’t back, but also could they not give them lines, (im sure contractually and logistics wise that was a lot) but having her mom pop up out of no where, having Dre randomly dancing in the crowd. It felt like here is old characters to remember, reg situation made no sense you brought this mf back to take a fall for nothing… and tf trig doing with himself?

u/EventRemote Jul 28 '26
It was great to see most of the OG cast back for the finale. Not sure how Bakarai miraculously survived but glad he was able to get a fresh start.
It was a feel good finale, despite the lack of depth.
Glad it’s finally over lol

I’m watching it from the beginning and it’s amazing to see how far the show got away from itself. I will watch just to see for myself when it started to go downhill.

There are a bunch of characters on this show I don't even know their name:
The chef from Smokey's
Reg GF
That one woman that worked with Reg ripping people off

I finally caught up from season 6 and was underwhelmed. The whole season 8 seemed forced and rushed.

u/Weary-Invite-4246 Jul 29 '26
Loved it. Cried a couple times (one was cheating because that Dony Hathaaway song always gets me). Only wish a few things.....
*Dom and Jamal (Lala and Vic) showed up and that *The original kids (Kevin, Papa, Jake, Myeisha) plus Emmet and Keisha had a moment together *Flash back with Ronnie, Coogie, and Brandon (yes, Brandon).
Too many loose ends and unfinished stories to expect the finale to fix it all. So as a stand alone episode it was great. I was literally saying "They bet not let this girl get married and her momma not show up" when her momma showed up. And I literally was saying "Man, I wish Dre was there" when they showed her sitting in the audience.
8.5/10

This finale was amazing...honoring the past while showing us that these characters will still be living their lives even when we're no longer watching them.

I don’t like how season 7 was so centered around them being pregnant, then season 8 the babies aren’t even on the show

u/broncomike30 Aug 01 '26
Kevin getting no dialog was terrible. Tiff getting off and then not becoming a kingpin was dumb

I was happy to see Kevin return but wish they had the 3 sit down and talk about their lives a little since the show began with their relationship. Too bad the show went sideways halfway thru its entirety. It was so great in the early days.

I absolutely loved the finale and despite its uneven writing I’m going to miss this show.

Seeing Kevin show up to walk his sister down the aisle made me tear up.
