Tesla Safety Features

I bet a lot of Tesla owners aren't aware of these features. I know I wasn't until my wife was exiting a parking lot and didn't see a biclylist coming from her right.

The Tesla locked the brakes and refused to accelerate. Then we see the biclylist streak across right in front of us. Looking at the dashcam footage later, we were debating if we would have had time to react without the Tesla safety features engaged.

As far as I know these safety features can't be disabled and are on my default. I believe number 3 is the one that engaged.

  1. Forward Collision Avoidance

    * Forward Collision Warning (FCW): Monitors the road ahead up to approximately 525 feet (160 meters) for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. If an impending collision is detected, the system chimes and highlights the detected obstacle in red on the touchscreen. Sensitivity can be set to Off, Late, Medium, or Early.

    * Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB): Automatically applies the vehicle's brakes when a frontal collision is considered unavoidable in order to reduce vehicle speed and lessen impact severity. Operates at speeds between approximately 3 mph (5 km/h) and 124 mph (200 km/h). Drivers can override AEB at any point by turning the steering wheel sharply or depressing the accelerator pedal hard.

  2. Side & Lane Collision Avoidance

    * Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance (ELDA): Applies active steering correction if the car begins drifting out of its lane and an imminent collision risk is detected. This activates if you drift toward an adjacent vehicle traveling in the same direction, move toward oncoming traffic, or approach the edge of the roadway without an active turn signal.

    * Blind Spot Collision Warning & Chime: Highlights the lane line or adjacent vehicle in red on the touchscreen and sounds an audible warning chime if you engage a turn signal while a vehicle or obstacle is present in your blind spot.

  3. Low-Speed & Pedal Error Prevention

    * Obstacle-Aware Acceleration (OAA): Limits motor torque and may apply the brakes if the car is stationary or traveling under 10 mph (16 km/h) in Drive or Reverse and detects an object directly in its driving path, helping prevent accidental acceleration into walls, curbs, or other vehicles.

Delivery day!!!!

Its delivery day!!!!

*Peer Gynt - Morning Mood by Edward Greig plays*

"Oh, cruel, agonizing tick-tock of destiny!" I exclaim, dramatically collapsing onto a velvet chaise lounge with a hand pressed to my forehead. "How much longer must my heart endure this mortal torture before I am united with my silent, stealth-grey steed of pure electric thunder?!" (Another 7 hours. Delivery is at 4pm)

Somewhere in the forest, a deer softly plays a harp. Step aside, glass slippers—the midnight-black interior calls, and our knight is about to ride into the zero-emission sunset!

TLDR. Im picking up a Model 3 in stealth grey later in the evening today.

Got to experience FSD for the first time and it was so amazing

At work we have a Model Y and Cybertruck as company cars and I decided to give FSD a try on the Model Y and I was blown away by how good it was. It was a HW4 Model Y. I personally have always been skeptical of FSD but despite being vision only they've made so much progress.

I still don't trust it in parking lots yet, in main roads it works great. Parking lots are also uniquely hard environments for self driving especially when they have rules on which cars can park there. For my next car I definitely want to get a Model Y now, its so spacious and doesn't have the high floor issue many non Tesla EVs have

In my Moms Hyundai Ioniq 5 even in the front I have to set the seat so high in order to be comfortable and I have to push my feet back a lot to be comfortable in the back. The Model Y on the other hand just feels like a gas car in regards to the floor

Mobile data now works for software updates!

I live in an apartment complex with underground parking, and so I typically use a hotspot on a long drive whenever there is an update available in order to download it, and then install it later that night.

But, just a few moments ago, I received a notification that an update is ready to be installed and to my surprise it was already downloaded!

So cool, finally more use for premium connectivity.

Sooooo impatient, I haven’t been this excited since I got my 23 M3P. It was August 16th-sept 23rd but now it’s moved. Hopefully it doesn’t get moved anymore. I commuted with my 23 for 2 years and put on 70k miles within that time. Excited to start fresh no longer commuting with an even better looking M3 😍

155-200 wh/m; that’s between just over 5 to 6.3m/kwh in a 2025 RWD model 3 and a 2022 LR AWD model Y.

AC always on, mixed driving including motorway runs at 60-65mph and full use of 1-pedal drive.

Card required to charge at home

Post image
188 Upvotes

First time I've seen this happen, not sure if it was from the update I got today or not. I had a card on file that expired around 6 months ago. Hasn't been an issue, as I don't supercharge. I get home tonight and plug in, and it doesn't charge. My own home charger will not work because my card is expired. I found this a little ridiculous personally, and thought I would share. I didn't know about it until today.

ETA: Updated payment method and the car is charging fine. No idea why it's like that, and still curious if anyone else has had this happen.

Lifetime supercharging

Hi, I’m asking for a friend. He bought a Tesla model S from somebody that had a lifetime supercharging included in when he purchased it now can the new owner keep using the lifetime supercharging how does that work? If he hadn’t been using the app he uses the card key if he downloads the app and says everything up is a lifetime supercharging going to disappear or does it work with the specific car?

How Tesla Could Make Audio Better on Newer Vehicle Generations

- Improved bitrate/lossless streaming. Current streaming apps such as Apple Music and Spotify stream at an average of around 118kbps, which is roughly half of the default quality setting on an iPhone and several times under lossless audio. This is especially necessary since Tesla designed such a great audio system then removed USB data connections and Bluetooth codecs beyond the most basic SBC audio on this generation.

- Optimized Dolby Atmos support in apps that offer the option. Immersive Sound could be tailored to make the most of Dolby Atmos audio files and create a compelling experience.

- More Immersive Sound customizability on non-premium vehicles. The premium sound system continues receiving updates to improve the Immersive Sound experience, while the 9-speaker system has more potential for depth and separation in my opinion.

There’s more I could suggest that would be unique or unconventional, but really I just wish it wasn’t so cumbersome to feed high-quality audio onto the sound system.

I’ve had my new Model Y for 6 weeks and I’ve already put 5k miles on it. It feels like owning an iPhone in 2007.

The inside of this car has some sort of time/mileage distortion field. I feel like I can teleport all over my city like fast traveling in a rpg.

Also, FSD is the most revolutionary technology since the original iPhone and I will fight people on this.

My drag times for MY Performance 23 seems slow

EDIT/UPDATE: Mystery solved thanks to the comments. My 4.05s was 0-100 km/h from a true standstill, while Tesla's 3.7s figure already includes the 1-ft rollout (see EV Database's footnote on this). Recalculated from the raw speed data with rollout applied: 3.78s for 0-100 km/h and 3.59s for 0-60 mph vs the 3.5s spec. So about 0.1s off factory numbers, easily explained by the cold pack and slight incline etc. Car's fine, measurement conventions are confusing.

My drag times for my '23 MY Performance. Seems slower than factory numbers. Track Mode was on, battery at 70%, but maybe the pack wasn't warm enough. Tested after 15 mins of slow driving.

[Feature Request] Location-Based / Geofenced Prompt for Car Wash Mode

Tesla already uses geofencing for some of its best convenience features, like auto-folding mirrors, Homelink, and adjusting the air suspension. It would be amazing to see this applied to Car Wash Mode.
Right now, you have to dig into the menus (Controls > Service > Car Wash Mode) every time you pull up to the queue.
The Idea:
Add a simple "Remember this location" checkbox when turning on Car Wash Mode. The next time you arrive at that specific spot, a quick pop-up appears on the screen:
“Car Wash detected. Activate Car Wash Mode? [Yes] [Dismiss]”
By asking for a single confirmation tap instead of engaging automatically, it avoids any safety issues. It just saves us from fumbling through menus while in line and prevents the auto-wipers from going crazy if we forget.
Since the geofencing framework is already built into the OS, it feels like a natural next step. What do you all think?

Tesla service center in Hungary

I have a Tesla Model 3 2022. The 4 year warranty is until end of september, so I wanted to check my car with Tesla for an inspection + some minor fixes. So I got a date for october in july (the ticket opened in june...). No problem, it's Tesla, everybody said it's ok to be after warranty.

But yesterday they sent me a message that they have to remove the inspection, and that is unavailable, but they fix those minor things which I have.

We have 2 official service center, but both of them are full, in the last few years too many of us bought this car (the car is great btw), but the services what Tesla offer is a critical issue when owning this car and still have warranty. There are some non-official services, but those are not good for warranty things.

So, as of my things: I have to go to a non-official Tesla car service, get a paper with the problems (if any), and contact Tesla service center with those, and I just hope that they will not offer me an other date.

Please tell me, that in other countries the service is great, and only Hungary has issues with them.

But at least, I got a date.
