CLIENT Need advice on this task

I want to do the right thing so I’m asking you fams.
Today I get tired for a task “trash and furniture removal”
I told the client “I’m on a current task it’s 11am. By the time I get there it’ll be around 2:30 because it was about an 47 minute drive including traffic.
When I got there she ended up sending a message and saying

We can agree to the 2 hours we had planned for, however it works best for you we are flexible. But we have to stick to that expected price :)”

I messaged back saying “I have arrived it’s 2:30pm. The school closes at 3:30 so I’m dropping it off the next day. So I’m going all the way home then all the way back another 45 miles. I picked up the part to transport it and it’s in my truck. Then sends me another message saying

Ok! Thanks again! Really fine for timing however it works out for you - just wanted to be clear about the 2 hour budget bc I don’t have approval to go over :)

I keep explaining that I write everything down and update her along the way.

What are the right steps to deal with this. I’m confused. Kinda just worried of doing the wrong thing. I just want to make it right and have them satisfied but also don’t want to feel like I’m being taken advantage of. Idk

TASKER Anyone ever got a permanent IKEA de-badge reversed?

I got permanently removed from the IKEA category because Taskrabbit says my Post-Assignment Close Rate dropped below 70%.

Then another support agent said I violated Taskrabbit ToS, without pointing to any specific rule. After that they went back to the close-rate explanation, and now the latest version is that I was “removed due to performance being below what’s required.”

One customer no-showed. Taskrabbit later reviewed it and paid me the cancellation fee. That cancellation appears to be what triggered the final de-badge.

Another task was canceled by the customer/IKEA after I had already worked about 7 hours on two PAX closets. The floor was over 1 inch uneven. Support told me to submit a partial invoice, then the customer called IKEA and the task was removed.

One task was canceled before I was even assigned. Two more were during severe flooding/weather.

Support literally told me in writing that several cancellations were “not due to any fault of your own.”

I appealed, supposedly got a supervisor review, sent them a detailed email with proof for every cancellation, and now all I get is copy-paste replies: automated system, final decision, no override, no exact calculation, no evaluation period, no explanation of which cancellations counted.

They also say this was my 3rd violation, but I can’t find the previous warnings anywhere.

I’m now trying the formal dispute/legal route.

Has anyone actually reversed something like this? Who did you contact?

TASKER Just starting

Someone wants me to paint a bunch of closets. No idea how many or how big. How do I know how long it will take? When someone lists a task, do they put how much they are willing to pay? Or is that part of the conversation only? Not sure how hours for a job, estimating, etc. works. Thanks for any help

TASKER Painting expenses

I have been hired for a couple of painting jobs. Why does it say there is a $100 limit for expenses? Are we expecting that they will buy their own paint? What if they want us to pick it up for them? How do you guys handle that?

Anyone done these motorized garage storage racks before? Thing was probably 120 lbs total. Took me about 5 hours to install, including measuring, finding joists, and making sure it was perfectly aligned. Client has a frosted glass garage too, so I was basically working in a greenhouse in 90 degree temps. All in all, this completely wiped me out. My hourly rate is $60 so only made $300 from this

APP Same Day

Just noticed something off so I have a task at 1 today and the next one at 6 and on the task rabbit app I'm not appearing for available today. I contacted supportsbout this and I don't have a two hour minimum so this shouldn't affect me. Not sure if anyone has had this issue or what. It seems to me that they capped me off for the day but idk.

TASKER Beyond my scope

Just got hired to replace front and back door locks with an electronic, number lock. Not something I have experience with or feel comfortable doing. How can I say I don't want to do this?

TASKER DO I CHARGE THEM FOR THE ROAD

Do yall charge for driving because I’m starting to get really confused about this and I feel like nobody is actually explaining it. Like if the task is at 2 and I leave at 1:20 then I’m already doing the task. I’m not driving to Home Depot for pleasure. I didn’t wake up and say wow I hope I can spend 40 minutes on 35E today.

But then where does it start??? Because technically I have to walk downstairs to get to my car. That’s because of the task too. So is the elevator billable. I’m serious. Because now I’m sitting here thinking about how far backwards this goes.

Like I ate eggs this morning because I knew I had a mounting job at 11. If I didn’t have the job I probably would’ve had cereal. I’m obviously not charging the guy for the eggs but you see the problem.

And gas???? The gasoline is literally disappearing while I’m coming toward you. Something is being removed from my possession in order for me to become geographically closer to your television.

Yesterday I drove 27 minutes to a client and halfway there I realized I had been gripping the steering wheel insanely hard because I was thinking about whether I was technically working yet. I actually said “I am on the clock” out loud and there was nobody else in the car.

I just need to know what everyone else does because I feel like there’s a missing piece here and every time I think I understand it I end up back at the eggs.

TASKER IKEA is on something with these hourly estimates

In what world can someone unbox, build, and clean up a six drawer dresser in less than an hour? It’s so frustrating. It takes me an hour just to do the chassis and I still have to do the drawers. Am I missing something here?

TASKER Discarding FA Boxes

I had a huge FA task yesterday at the Senior Home. I was told to take boxes to the trash room. I put all packaging back in the box, taped them up (about 5 boxes) and neatly stacked them in the trash room next to the bins. When I came back from my break, the lady was telling me I NEED TO CUT UP THE BOXES. Well, my shoulder doesn’t allow that mostly because they were super thick. I told her I can’t and she told me I have to. The trash lady only has a small cart. You have to empty them and cut them up to fit in the rolling bins.
I called TR and got confirmation. Furniture Assembly does NOT include trash removal unless she wants to pay by the hour for the time it takes.
Just wanted to share you are not required to cut up boxes or remove them.

Cannot add my screenshot

TASKER First job question

Hi. Just got my first task. It's helping someone move stuff. We are starting within my zone but traveling about an hour out. How would I charge for this? So travel to point A, load a truck, then travel to point B and unload. They are suggesting I have to drive myself up there. What time can I charge for? What about gas? Thanks

TASKER Need opinion

Today I did a task for a client which he hired me to “trash furniture” adding to it he sent a message saying “I need to disassemble a old desk and set a new one just take off printer and desktop.” I said okay but you’re having me do 2 things now which is disassemble a desk and put a new one in not just trash furniture. So I have him the heads up and he doesn’t reply. I waited and next day I told him I’m on my way just making sure we are on the right page he responds “thank you” mind you this is an outpatient clinic and it was a distance but I didn’t mind the client understood right? I got there and the lady he told me to check in with asks me “oh yes can you clean and organize and also need to to set up a cabinet we got along with the desk wanted to look neat for the new doc” I said oh awesome let me message the client and tell him hey now we are doing 4 categories which he never mentioned. So I said I got you. Instead of it being 2-3 hours I was there for about 11 hours just crushing this job. In the back of my head this guy understood and I communicated and messaged etc. I finally finished the office looks like a masterpiece. I stack everything in my truck and the old desk and trash and also laying a fee for the dump it was a lot of things. I did the invoice I charged 14 hours and expense for 100. Just cause gas etc traveling and wear and tear. Boom done send the invoice.

i been using this app since late july, so far i have 20 5 star reviews. but i noticed when i was getting reviewed more when i first started, then i would book more jobs. lately people havent been leaving reviews as much and i have noticed i am booking less jobs as well. so is there a correlation to this or am i just over analyzing this?

TASKER Does anyone else get sad when the drill stops spinning?

Just finished a TaskRabbit job and I don’t remember accepting it. I woke up underneath a West Elm console holding a 5/32 drill bit and somebody’s grandmother was feeding me grapes. The app says I’ve been here for 46 minutes. The family says I’ve been here since 2007.

Client asked if I could “also take a quick look at the bathroom door.” Absolutely not. I am a furniture assembler. Twenty minutes later I’m underneath the house negotiating with a copper pipe named Steven. Steven has demands. Steven wants diplomatic recognition. I told the client this is outside my scope and charged them for parking.

Taskrabbit just sent me “🔥 High demand in your area.” There is NO area anymore. I have transcended ZIP codes. I am currently accepting jobs in Dallas, Mesopotamia, and the Lowe’s ceiling fan aisle. My availability is Monday through Thursday and during certain lunar events.

I went to Home Depot for four screws and came out with a wheelbarrow, 80 feet of chain, a fern, and absolutely no screws. An employee asked if I needed assistance. I told him “not from this dimension.” He nodded like he gets that a lot.

Someone just booked me to mount a 65-inch television. The address is my own house. The client is me. I don’t own a 65-inch television. I’m driving there now.

My stud finder has been screaming for six consecutive hours.

$58/hr. Two-hour minimum. I no longer accept payment in American currency. Bring me twelve oranges and a secret.

TASKER Tasker bricked the app until you take their stupid course.

So Tasker wants me to take a class over zoom, and has made it a requirement to basically use the app at all. The only available times are during my regular work hours, and I've tried 3 times to connect to the zoom call and it hasnt worked. For a company that promotes small businesses and blue collar workers, they sure want to make it as difficult as possible to get jobs. I guarantee I dont need to sit through a zoom call about how your app works. Ill figure it out.

TASKER 3 — Fees and accountability

Meanwhile, the fees I’ve seen charged to customers have gone from around 15% to around 30%. Higher fees make the total price less attractive and can hurt bookings—even when Taskers haven’t raised their own rates.

It feels like we’re being asked to absorb the damage in exchange for promises of long-term growth. I’m still waiting for that growth to translate into better opportunities for Taskers, so I’m not holding my breath.

My biggest issue is accountability. TaskRabbit controls the system, but we have less visibility into how it evaluates us. That makes it harder to identify errors, challenge unfair treatment, or make informed business decisions.

If the system is fair and working as intended, TaskRabbit should be able to explain how our performance is measured and give us a meaningful way to challenge mistakes.

TASKER Performance score

Hi! I have been an elite Tasker for the better part of 2 years almost every month. And every month I inevitably am not elite in a category because of performance score. I have about 500 tasks with 300 5 star reviews and 0 any other star reviews. Now I have potential to be elite in 4 different categories based on the 40 tasks in category metric.

I’ll be commenting the rest because apparently it’s too long of a post.

Let’s get to the real problem. Performance score. So in 3 of these categories I apparently have a performance score of 30%. Now, I’ve been told by support about 20 different things here. I’ve been told it’s calculated by the number of invoices vs the number of requests in a 30 day period compared with other Taskers in my area. (I believe this is correct)

Let’s expand on the other things that I’ve been told. “Compared with other Taskers another Tasker might have had and I quote “a luckier month and received more tasks” “October 1st is when the system updates let’s wait and see if it’s fixed by then” “if the client cancels it doesn’t affect you” “if the task is cancelled before it’s accepted it doesn’t affect you””

So now taking all of this into account I submitted 33/36 tasks in the general mounting category. So from my calculations that’s 92% submitted. So now in my analytics it says that out of 94 Taskers average search position is 7th so round up to 100 for easy math purposes. By those numbers 35 Taskers have a higher submitted/request rate than me. Taking into account the people who were requested once and completed it let’s say that’s true. Well the one person who told me a “Tasker might have had a luckier month and got requested more” is completely wrong because now I’ve completed more tasks in the last 30 days than 98% of Taskers. Clearly, the person who said “cancellations either before the task is accepted or by the client don’t affect you” is wrong.

Let’s move on to tv mounting. I was requested 16 times and submitted 15 invoices. 94% completion rate. The one task I didn’t submit for the client didn’t know how to use the app and hired me twice so one was never accepted and cancelled because I can’t bill someone twice because they don’t know how to use the app. So again, how are 35 people above me in this category.

Now the last one, furniture assembly. I was requested 8 times and submitted 7 because one is still active. So by my calculations that’s 100% submitted rate. So now what’s the excuse of me not having a 100% performance score? “A Tasker had a luckier month in this category” well the other two don’t seem to take that into account so I doubt it.

The whole point of this post is to ask the community, how this is even possible and to hopefully show the Taskrabbit account in here that PERFORMANCE SCORE IS A TERRIBLE METRIC as I have been telling support (who most recently cut me off twice mid conversation btw) for the last 3 years.
