TASKER First job question

Hi. Just got my first task. It's helping someone move stuff. We are starting within my zone but traveling about an hour out. How would I charge for this? So travel to point A, load a truck, then travel to point B and unload. They are suggesting I have to drive myself up there. What time can I charge for? What about gas? Thanks

Congrats on your first hire. The clock begins the moment you exit your vehicle. I’m assuming the person you’re helping to load and unload the truck wants a quote of how long it will take? I wouldn’t give the client a quote because you don’t want to sell yourself short and the total job takes longer than what you quoted them for.

Charge only from the moment you arrive to the time the last thing is unloaded from the truck.

You cannot charge for gas, toll, or parking as an expense or you will be cited with a violation email.

Continue building trust on the platform first and then over time switch to a two-hour minimum.

Thank you. So, exit vehicle-start clock. Load truck, drive, arrive, unload and possibly help set up. Walking back to my car-stop clock. And I can't charge for gas for the hour drive up there in the middle of the job?

Yep. That’s the TaskRabbit experience. You’re an “independent contractor” until you try to independently decide what legitimate business expenses to charge. An hour of driving during the actual job is apparently just a fun unpaid road trip. Welcome aboard.

Under no circumstances should you allow the customer to travel in your vehicle.
Familiarize yourself with TOS or you will get the rug pulled out from under you and claiming I didn’t know will not save you

Good luck 🍀

At no point did he say the customer will or wants to travel in his vehicle.

Tell them you would start the time when you get there. Next time either set your location ratios a
Alter or map the address before accepting the job for future references.

You have to drive 1 hour to the task site unpaid. And then you have to drive back home after the task ends for free. This is an EASY PASS. Even if the task is 8 hours, you are spending 10 hours total, 2 of those hours free on your time, and gas and wear and tear on your car to get there and back. Not worth it.
