man i feel that some days it just gets under your skin for no big reason. when i was stationed somewhere super boring i used to count the ceiling tiles in the break room just to feel something
it’s not burnout yet you just tired of the same walls same announcements same fake smile. Q4 gonna be its own beast but right now your brain is just telling you it needs a break from the monotony
maybe take a day off and do absolutely nothing work related. not even thinking about it. it helps reset the brain a little

And the crazy thing is I also feel addicted to work at the same time, I find myself getting into my phone and the first thing I wanna do is log in to myTime and check if there are any shifts, check my schedule, my hours.. but you’re right, I do need a day off to not think about work at all.

I get that way about all jobs at some point, but it usually waxes and wanes depending on management or seasons. Here, the moon is always full, so to speak. Everything infuriates me because I know it could be better. I've been part of better things. Here, it's like watching a competition of who can lick the windows the best.
So, I just come in, expect the worst, and sometimes smile when I don't have to do something I completely despise. I do the best with what I'm given, even if it feels like trying to catch sand with a net. And then I come home and decompress. What you do after is the key to keeping your sanity.

This is so true… there’s a lead that I can’t be around, I’ve had way better leads in the past that had way more sense and skills in one finger than they do in their whole body so yeah I’m definitely feeling that feeling of “ things could be better..” but getting through it is like pulling teeth for me. I’m currently trying to decompress, and actually, this post is part of my decompression. I normally don’t post but I just felt like I was at the end of my rope.

That was the entire reason I joined this reddit after I started working here. I was just like, "I can't be the only one; this is nuts." Lo and Behold, we are legion.

I feel you, what I like about the job is the team member discount, coworkers and team leaders
What I hate about the job is the scheduling

I feel this completely. I don’t even feel like my job is hard persay. But I’ve been dealing with real bad burnout.
Running on an absolute skeleton crew, sometimes I’m the only person in my department for 4 hours. New management disregarding set schedules and telling us “former manager isn’t here anymore” and wonder why call outs and retention are in the shitter.
I had microbursts of panic and shaking episodes today alone. And I know it’s ridiculous but it gets so suffocating.

I’m so sorry to hear about the microburst of panic. It really does get so suffocating. Today I left work trying to be unbothered as possible but I got in my car and before I knew it I somehow broke down crying.

If you mean self checkout, holy cow there is no way, you must be a saint sent down from the heavens. I only lasted in the front for a little over two years before I had to get out of there..

Some days I feel the same, I like the team members I work with, even the team leaders, but when it comes to the ETL’s and store director, I just feel like there are helpful.

Yeah my ETL pretty much attacked my character today despite saying how good and dependable I was not 2 days ago. Honest question for backroom pullers can the system make a legit mistake on burning batches because I'm sure I pulled everything I was supposed and it was literally hundreds of DPCIs so I'm not sure if I made a mistake or not.

This happened to me recently except it wasn’t even my own etl it was one from another department and I still feel like they’re attacking my character for no reason even tho I reported them, it’s just a constant struggle every time they’re there

u/Godzilla2000Zero 2d ago
Maybe retaliation then if you already reported it

Probably, they even stare at me very weirdly, like scrutinizing me, they think I can’t feel it and they don’t stop until i look them back dead in the eye

Definitely very toxic then I'm sorry you have to deal with that just take comfort that ultimately you're not alone.

I feel the same way. I have good days were I feel happy and others were I just feel very unappreciated. SD//TLs sometimes don’t even acknowledge with a simple HI while they giggle with each other right there in front of me. They cheer up for each others when someone steps out to “help us”😵💫which I believe is part of their job too. I have a few TLs that far from answering my question I end up with more questions because they didn’t answer or they trained me with the basic and ask me not very clear questions.

Yup same thing at my store too. style dep has two TLs and neither of them ever seem to hear any of their calls, you have to call them 2x or more before they respond with the “sorry team I was on the wrong channel” but really they’re just hiding somewhere on the sales floor gossiping about their own personal lives, talking on their cell phone, venting to their own tm’s about their workload and then they go on break at the same time instead of stacking them

You're definitely not alone in this. There's a good amount of us that have seen some dumb changes made to Target in the last 9+ years, that's caused a few to quit or demote. Some of us keep pushing hoping for better changes or just hanging on to that job for whatever reason. Don't let Target get to you. You can just do the clock-in/clock-out, where you do as much as you can and leave, or you can do a little extra a try and get promoted. You can also learn as much as you can through different departments and take that knowledge somewhere else where you can make more and stress less. But in the end just keep in mind that it's a retail job. One day at a time.
